In some embodiments, a method for detecting advertisements is provided, the method comprising: receiving an advertisement request from a web browser loading a web page; selecting an advertisement from a plurality of advertisements to be placed on the web page in response to receiving the advertisement request; loading an event listener associated with the advertisement that receives advertisement information associated with other advertisements on the web page; and transmitting advertisement information associated with the advertisement to frames on the web page, wherein the event listener receives responses to the advertisement information that includes the advertisement information associated with the other advertisements on the web page.

Abstract: Systems and methods create new viewership estimates to drive linear ad schedule optimizations. The systems use machine learning techniques to predict granular-level television viewership metrics for any consumer segment measurable at a national level. The systems provide capabilities beyond merely estimating and forecasting television viewership for age- and gender-based demographic segments. The systems accurately estimate viewership for any consumer segment, including behavioral, demographic, and other segmentation techniques and provide reliable viewership predictions. The systems model viewership by training an ensemble of machine learning models using historical consumer segments data and TV viewership data.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided personalizing recommendations of items with associated explanations. The example embodiments described herein use contextual bandits to personalize explainable recommendations (“recsplanations”) as treatments (“Bart”). Bart learns and predicts satisfaction (e.g., click-through rate, consumption probability) for any combination of item, explanation, and context and, through logging and contextual bandit retraining, can learn from its mistakes in an online setting.

Abstract: Method and systems generate optimized and online targeted messages. Various campaign criteria are provided having different advertising or marketing goals that cause the delivery of targeted messages. Messages may be generated based upon customer data, customer preferences, life events, marketing campaigns, predictive models, and/or propensity scores. For instance, messages may be sent when a propensity threshold score is exceeded indicating a high likelihood of a milestone event, which may be indicative of customer behavior or an event that is relevant to the campaign goal, thereby sending more relevant messages to customers. A milestone propensity score may be calculated using a predictive modeling algorithm having weighted data variables, which may include data provided by the customer or accessed through various sources, such as monitoring customer online interactions with their permission.

Abstract: Risk associated with end-user computing tools can be discovered automatically. Machine learning and other approaches can be employed to automate discovery of risk associated with end-user computing tools. In one instance, a machine learning model can be constructed and fine-tuned through training that can classify end-user computing tools in terms of risk. The risk can be of a particular type, such as financial or reputational risk, and extent, such as high or low. In another instance, end-user computing tools can be subject to automatic clustering and subsequent risk assessment. Mitigation action can be performed to reduce risk associated with high-risk end-user computing tools.

Abstract: A media content packaging and distribution system that generates a plurality of disparate live media output streams to be viewed on a plurality of consumer devices, receives a programming schedule for a channel from a network scheduler. The programming schedule corresponds to a first manifest associated with a first pre-encoded media asset. Information related to a plurality of media segments from the first pre-encoded media asset indicated in the first manifest is inserted into a live output stream manifest. Transition occurs between first media segments of the plurality of media segments from a first data source to second media segments of the plurality of media segments from a second data source, different from the first data source, where the transition is based on additional information. Based on the transition, a disparate live media output stream is generated for a channel viewable on a consumer device via a media player.

The method also allocates, by a real-time bidding process, unplanned bookings to the time periods. Forecasts of unplanned bookings demand are taken into account in allocating planned bookings.

This method allows the platform to present the most relevant hyper-personalized in-channel content to the publisher platform users in endemic banners that run on the platform which then correspondingly helps drive user reach. An example embodiment operates by implementing personalized content banners that may act as a hook for channel users opening their streaming device, both active and lapsed, to enter back into the channel.

The method further comprises enriching viewing data with consumer demographic data; and selecting viewed media among the aggregated viewed media having the highest similarity to the product purchasers as target media for the advertising content.

The marketplace system may include a seller-controlled marketplace system which connects sellers with buyers and offers revenue management tools for optimizing yields across direct and programmatic channels. The advertisement inventory is bought and sold as canonical inventory units which group similar but discrete advertisement slots together. The marketplace system may include a real-time bidding (RTB) adapter through which digital advertising buyers may place bids for such inventory units using standard protocols utilized in digital RTB systems.

In some implementations, a method for presenting search results is provided, the method comprising: receiving, using a hardware processor, a query related to media that is currently being presented; identifying a program that is currently being presented; identifying a plurality of keywords associated with the identified program; determining one or more of the plurality of keywords that are contextually relevant to the query; obtaining a plurality of search results based on the query and the one or more contextually relevant keywords; and causing at least one of the plurality of search results to be presented to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining emotional responses to videos, generating emotional arc based on the responses and reactions, and determining the type and/or point of insertion of secondary content based on the determined emotional responses are disclosed. The methods display primary content to a plurality of users and determine their emotional response as they consume the primary content. An average emotional arc is generated based on the determined emotional response and it is compared to a current emotional arc generated based on emotional response from a current user. When values of the current emotional are within a predefined range of the average emotional arc at a particular play position in the timeline of the primary content, a secondary content that is designated for the value of the current emotional arc is inserted in the primary content at the particular play position.

Disclosed example apparatus include means for determining reference media, the means for determining reference media to identify a plurality of first signatures in a database that matches a plurality of second signatures included in media presentation data representative of media output by a media device in response to a mismatch between the media presentation data and reference data associated with first reference media corresponding to a first station, the plurality of second signatures generated from the media output by the media device; and determine second reference media corresponding to the plurality of first signatures; and means for storing the media presentation data.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to methods and systems for playback of adaptive music corresponding to an athletic activity. A user input is received from a user selecting an existing song for audible playback to the user, the song comprising a plurality of audio layers including at least a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. Augmented playback of the existing song to the user is initiated by audibly providing the first layer but not the second layer. Physical activity information derived from a sensor corresponding to a real-time physical activity level of a user is received. If the physical activity level of the user is above a first activity level threshold, the augmented playback of the existing song is continued by audibly providing the first layer and the second layer to the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and programs are presented for determining exposure rate. One method includes an operation for operation for receiving a request, from a client device, for a value of an exposure rate of a zone within a webpage, the request comprising at least one search parameter and information about a viewport of the presented webpage. A check is made to determine if the exposure rate has been previously calculated. When the exposure rate has not been previously calculated, a visibility height of the zone is calculated and stored in a memory. When the exposure rate has been calculated, the visibility height is retrieved from the memory. Recordings of members accessing the webpage are analyzed to determine when the visibility height of the zone is visible in member devices accessing the webpage. The exposure rate of the zone is calculated based on the determinations of visibility of the zone.

Embodiments of the present disclosure related to systems for: receiving an identification of a user profile from a client device; retrieving user identifiers associated with the user profile and a user profile associated with the client device; selecting an animation script from among a plurality of animation scripts, the animation script including a set of graphical elements; generating a composite user identifier based on the user identifiers associated with the user profile and the user profile associated with the client device; and causing display of a presentation of the composite user identifier at the client device, wherein the presentation is based on the animation script.

Software on the device can then schedule the event into an electronic calendar system, and/or may use data associated with the media segment. Abstract: In one aspect, an example method includes receiving, from a first content-presentation device, a request for supplemental content for use in connection with performing a content-modification operation; identifying a download conflict between the first content-presentation device and a second content-presentation device having a same IP address as the first content-presentation device; and providing, to the first content-presentation device, a response to the request, with the request including a download delay instruction. Reception of the download delay instruction by the first content-presentation device causes the first content-presentation device to wait until a condition associated with the download delay instruction is satisfied before downloading a supplemental content item specified in the response.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining emotional responses to videos, generating emotional arc based on the responses and reactions, and determining the type and/or point of insertion of secondary content based on the determined emotional responses are disclosed. The methods display primary content to a plurality of users and determine their emotional response as they consume the primary content. An average emotional arc is generated based on the determined emotional response and it is compared to a current emotional arc generated based on emotional response from a current user. When values of the current emotional are within a predefined range of the average emotional arc at a particular play position in the timeline of the primary content, a secondary content that is designated for the value of the current emotional arc is inserted in the primary content at the particular play position.

Abstract: Technologies for audiovisual communication include an audiovisual server and a number of audiovisual client devices, including a presenter device and a number of audience devices. Each audience device captures an audiovisual stream and transmits the audiovisual stream to the audiovisual server. Each audience device also captures sensor input data such as eye tracking data or facial expression data and transmits abstracted sensor input data to the audiovisual server. The abstracted sensor input data may be based on the captured audiovisual stream. The audiovisual server determines an interestingness rating associated with each audience device based on the sensor input data, and selects one or more audiovisual streams based on the interestingness ratings. The audiovisual server transmits the selected audiovisual streams to the presenter device. The audiovisual server may update the interestingness rating algorithm based on feedback from the presenter device or the audience devices.

Abstract: Interactive video game content for a video game is streamed to a client device using a first streaming protocol configured for low-latency streaming. When an indication of non-interactive content to be inserted into the video game is detected, streaming of the interactive video game content to the client device is paused and the non-interactive content is streamed to the client device using a second streaming protocol configured for adaptive bitrate streaming. Upon receiving an indication that streaming of the non-interactive content to the client device has ended, streaming of the interactive content to the client device is resumed using the first streaming protocol.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing personalized media content by a personalized media content delivery system are disclosed. One method includes identifying a user of an information handling device associated with the personalized media content delivery system utilizing user identification data. A user profile that is associated with the identified user may then be accessed. The user profile may contain one or more content viewing preferences of the user. One or more articles of media content stored in a content database associated with the user's content viewing preferences may be determined. A personalized media stream containing these articles of media content may then be assembled and subsequently provided to the user on a digital channel of an application platform running on the information handling device.

Therefore, embodiments are directed to relevance ranking of query results based on external context. A search service may receive a query and an external context list, determine a relevance value for each entry in the external context list, and perform the query, where a search index comprising items may be returned in response to performance of the query. The search service may then match entries in the external context list against associated properties of the items, compute a score for the items based on the matching, and rank results of the query based on the score computed for the items.

Abstract: Systems and methods for inserting auxiliary content slots within portions of media assets determined to be of interest to users. Segments of a media asset being viewed by a user are identified as being of particular interest to the user, with reference to a stored set of user preferences. User preferences may be consulted to determine which of these segments may be of likely interest to the viewer. Slots for auxiliary content, such as an advertisement, are then added to those segments deemed to be of likely interest. Auxiliary content such as ads may accordingly be displayed to a user at points within media assets at which the user is more likely to be paying attention, increasing the likelihood that auxiliary content will be viewed and perhaps interacted with by the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to selectively stream content based on parental control ratings. At a client device, a manifest identifying sequential segments of a media asset and versions of a particular segment of the sequential segments may be received, and a graphical user interface may be generated for display to simultaneously depict a respective portion of each respective version of the particular segment and respective selectable options associated with each respective version of the particular segment. A selection of a first option may be received that is associated with a first version of the particular segment, and during playing of the media asset, in response to determining that the particular segment is the next segment to be played, the first version of the particular segment may be requested from the server.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein generally provide for the compensation of asset providers and/or communications network providers for the non-consumption of assets provided with programming. In this regard, when users elect not to consume the assets associated with the programming, the asset provider loses the opportunity to present their assets to such non-consuming users and is thereby injured in relation to the price they have paid for the delivery of their assets. In one arrangement, a reporting module at a customer device is operative to identify when a user skips an asset and report that skip event to the network. This information may then be utilized to adjust the bill of the asset provider and/or to bill the user associated with the skip event.

In one embodiment of the system, the set-top box is configured to receive a source signal which includes a stream of network programming having time slots interposed therein. The set-top box detects signaling data indicative of a designated time slot within the network programming and responsive thereto, interposes content stored at the set-top box at the designated time slot within the network programming. The set-top box then forwards the interposed content to the display. Following the forwarding of the interposed content, the set-top box returns to receiving network programming and forwarding the network programming to the display. The set-top box also provides confirmation of the displayed interposed content to a server, which may map the confirmation information.

A system can receive, at a first time, a request for content to broadcast identifying a content publisher. The system can obtain cluster data of the content publisher corresponding to a first time, the cluster data identifying content selection metrics based on predicted characteristics of the cluster corresponding to the first time. The system can determine a subset of content items having cluster filtering criteria that satisfy the content selection metrics. The system can rank the subset of content items based on the content selection metrics to create an ordered list of content items. The system can transmit data identifying the order of the content items to the content publisher. The content publisher can insert the content into a broadcast in the order identified by the system.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling whether to have a content-presentation device dynamically replace a modifiable content segment, such as a replaceable ad, that is upcoming on a channel being received by the content-presentation device. Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for determining personalized timing for generating for display advertisements to users. Rather than an expert determining time segments of a media asset most suitable for presenting advertisements to users, the most suitable time segments in a media asset for presenting advertisements to users may be customized based on a user's profile information and/or the user's level of engagement in a media asset. The media guidance application may parse a media asset into multiple time segments and determine one or more time segments associated with metadata that matches content characteristics preferred by the user. One or more advertisements may be presented to the user in these time segments determined by the media guidance application instead of the time segments determined by the expert.

The devices, systems, and methods described herein can be used to collect and generate online web content and communications. In particular, the systems and methods described herein provide a video stream received from a broadcaster client device to one or more viewer client devices. The systems and methods receive poll responses from the one or more viewer client devices, compile poll results based on the received responses, and provide the poll responses to the broadcaster client device and the one or more viewer client devices.

Based on a reference time of the reference clock and play events from the live playout system, a normalized event metadata is converted from a play time of pre-produced media asset metadata to the reference time. The play events exists for the pre-produced media asset as start and stop times per the pre-produced media asset support inclusion of non-programming content and restart of the pre-produced media asset during a playout. Start and end messages are transmitted for publishing the normalized event metadata each time the pre-produced media asset is started and stopped during the playout in a disparate live media output stream.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and programs are presented for determining exposure rate. One method includes an operation for operation for receiving a request, from a client device, for a value of an exposure rate of a zone within a webpage, the request comprising at least one search parameter and information about a viewport of the presented webpage. A check is made to determine if the exposure rate has been previously calculated. When the exposure rate has not been previously calculated, a visibility height of the zone is calculated and stored in a memory. When the exposure rate has been calculated, the visibility height is retrieved from the memory. Recordings of members accessing the webpage are analyzed to determine when the visibility height of the zone is visible in member devices accessing the webpage. The exposure rate of the zone is calculated based on the determinations of visibility of the zone.
