Gravitational Moment Tilts Rotor About Axis Transverse To Spin Axis Patents (Class 73/482)
  • Patent number: 11391156
Abstract: An exemplary static rotor blade assembly balancing tool includes a vertical rod having a top end with a tip located at the top end on a vertical axis of the rod and a sleeve having a bore terminating at a socket, in use the rod is disposed in the bore and the tip and the socket form a pivot connection where the sleeve is balanced to settle in a level position with a vertical axis of the sleeve coaxial with the vertical axis of the rod, and the sleeve has an outer profile configured to mount a hub of a rotor blade assembly.

  • Patent number: 4489605
Abstract: A machine for balancing large rotatable parts such as marine propellers in the plane of rotation. A swing assembly hangs from a support assembly such as two spaced posts on a stand by means of two or more thin metal sheets which extend from the support assembly to the bottom of the swing assembly. The rotatable part is centered on the top end of a vertical arbor mounted for rotation about a vertical axis in a vertical column on said swing assembly. As the arbor and part are rotated, any imbalances causes a deflection of the swing in a plane perpendicular to the thin metal sheets which act as sensitive leaf springs. Deflection is measured by an indicator adjacent to the swing. Since the metal sheets are very strong in tension, very heavy parts can be tested. These sheets, due to their length and slight thickness, are easily deflected sideways by very small off-center loads. Thus, small imbalances can be detected, measured and corrected.

  • Patent number: 4407154
Abstract: A bowling ball weighing device is provided for determining weight imbalance between various opposed sides of bowling balls comprising a support stand having two substantially vertically oriented standards supporting a circular cradle freely and pivotally therebetween for free rotation of the cradle about an axis of rotation extending between the standards. The cradle is adapted to receive a bowling ball therein, with the geometric center of a bowling ball lying in a vertical plane which includes the cradle axis of rotation and which divides the ball into opposed sides. An elongate indicator is securely attached to the cradle and registers on an indicia carrying field attached to the support stand the degree of weight imbalance between the opposed sides of the bowling ball.

  • Patent number: 4046018
Abstract: A stand assembly having an upright standard and a support plate affixed to the upper end of the upright standard. A pair of balancing posts are affixed to the support plate, each balancing post being disposed adjacent one end of the support plate. A wheel support includes formed in the underside thereof a pair of depressions, the balancing posts fitting within the depressions when the wheel support is mounted upon the stand assembly. A sensitivity adjustment is attached to the wheel support and depends therefrom. The sensitivity adjustment indicates the degree of tilt of the wheel support when a wheel is mounted thereon, and has a movable weight member which is operated to adapt for wheels of different sizes and ground or floor surfaces of different degrees of smoothness.
