Abstract: A method of sequentially coloring individual, precut, backed carpet tiles comprising moving an individual, precut, backed carpet tile into overlying spaced relationship with a tuft dye mold of substantially the same size as the carpet tile, with the tuft dye mold having a plurality of dye mold sections therein separated from one another by a vertical divider walls within the tuft dye mold. The tufted side of the carpet tile is brought into engagement with the tuft dye mold which has predetermined amounts of fluid colorant in any one or more desired sections thereon for imparting color to a portion of the carpet tile corresponding to said section or sections. A predetermined amount of pressure is exerted on the carpet tile on the tuft dye mold and on the fluid colorant therein and thereby minimizes the migration of colorant from one portion of the carpet tile to another portion while thoroughly impregnating each of said predetermined portions with said fluid colorants.

  • Patent number: 4225309
Abstract: A shrinkage setting process for a cloth material carried out by impregnating the cloth material with a caustic liquid or a liquid mixture prepared by mixing auxiliaries in the caustic liquid or with a dyeing liquid. The cloth material is then subjected to a hygro-thermic treatment to shrink or dye the cloth material in a no tension state within a high pressure steamer the inside of which is kept at conditions of high heat and humidity. Following the hygro-thermic treatment, the cloth material is subjected to a no tension boiling treatment carried out with a liquid flow within a boiling tank which is disposed inside the same high pressure steamer. Then, the degree of shrinkage of the cloth material is set by gradually cooling it down to about 50.degree. C. to let the cloth material permanently retain a sufficient degree of stretchability.

  • Patent number: 4165547
Abstract: An improved process for dyeing carpet by intermittently moving the carpet along a path having horizontal and vertical portions. The horizontal portion of the path is immersed in a print form having compartments separated by thin walls and filled with liquid dyes of varying colors, to impart a desired pattern to the fabric. After the horizontal portion of the fabric is withdrawn from the print form, the fabric is moved along its path so that the immersed portion is moved along the vertical portion of the path. A vacuum slot along the vertical portion of the path adjacent the horizontal portion is activated only while the carpet is in motion, and serves to draw the dye toward the backing of the carpet while removing excess dye therefrom. Thereafter the carpet is steamed to set the dyes.

Abstract: Exhaust process for the isothermal high-temperature dyeing of textile material made of hydrophobic synthetic fibers in a closed dyeing system with water-insoluble disperse dyestuffs, according to which the disperse dyestuff predispersed in water of 40.degree. to 60.degree. C is introduced into the aqueous bath free of dyestuff that is already circulating and heated together with the material to a dyeing temperature within the range of from 115.degree. to 140.degree. C and adjusted to pH 4 - 6, which comprises evaluating the number of the bath circulations per minute by measuring it and the amount of dyestuff exhausted onto the fiber at the same time, and introducing the predispersed dyestuff in doses into the dyebath, depending on the obtained measuring values.

  • Patent number: 4033717
Abstract: Drawn but undyed synthetic continuous filament yarn is formed into a prefabric, selected portions of the prefabric are dyed while leaving other selected portions free of any dye, the prefabric is raveled, the resulting partially dyed yarn is formed into a partially dyed prefabric, and this partially dyed prefabric is then substantially completely over-dyed to produce a novel over-dyed fabric. This method produces a novel form of crimped and drawn continuous filament synthetic polymeric yarn, a substantial portion of which is undyed, and the balance of which consists of random, intermittent dyed lengths consisting of at least two different colors (A and B) intermittently and randomly arranged along the length of the yarn.
