  • Patent number: 6821320
Abstract: A dust collector for collecting fine dust in air and for cleaning the air is provided. A first friction disk is produced from a first substance. A second friction disk is produced from a second substance that is chargeable triboelectrically in a polarity different from a polarity of the first substance. The first and second friction disks frictionally contact one another. The second friction disk moves relative to the first friction disk, to generate electrostatic charge and thereby attract fine dust.

  • Patent number: 6800106
Abstract: A filter apparatus includes a filter panel having inner and outer surfaces and a configuration for completely covering a computer housing ventilation opening. The filter apparatus includes an adhesive layer permanently adhered to the inner surface of the filter panel. A thermochromic region is positioned on the outer surface of the filter panel which changes color as temperature increases. The thermochromic region includes an ink layer and a wax layer positioned atop the ink layer. The wax layer includes a thermochromic dye having a color different from the color of the ink layer. The color of the thermochromic dye blocks the color of the ink layer at an ambient temperature and is transparent to allow the ink layer color to be seen at an activation temperature. Therefore, the filter apparatus provides an indication when the filter is full and heat is building within the housing as a result.

  • Patent number: 6572684
Abstract: To provide chargeable tow and a laminate thereof, which can be produced with no restriction by the production or processing method, and without troubles such as twining on a roll or single thread snapping caused by static electricity generated in the production steps. Tow, in which the value (D/W) obtained by dividing the total fineness of tow (D) by the tow width (W) is 1,000 to 8,000 dtex/mm, is produced by making a fiber-processing agent adhere thereto, preferably using a particular amount of the agent, wherein the agent has a particular structure and contains a polyoxyethylene higher fatty acid ester and a sorbitan fatty acid ester in a particular blending ratio.

  • Patent number: 6547860
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a triboelectrically charged nonwoven, wherein a fiber blend made of polyacrylnitrile fibers with a titer of ≦1.7 dtex and of polyolefine fibers with a titer of ≦1.7 dtex is freed from lubricating agents and antistatic agents by washing, is dried down to a moisture content of <1% by weight and is carded on a longitudinal or randomizing card into a triboelectrically charged web with a mass per area unit of 15-80 g/m2. This web is taken off by two simultaneously running rolls and a transfer roll, so that the web is laid on to a conveyor in machine direction, and bonded directly inside a bonding set, the unbonded web being forwarded via 1 to 3 points of transfer only.

  • Patent number: 6296691
Abstract: The present invention is an improved molded filter which performs multiple filtration functions within an enclosed environment, such as within a computer hard disk drive. In a first embodiment, the filter is capable of removing particulate contaminants from both incoming (external) air and recirculating air by performing both breather and recirculation functions when placed over a breather hole in a disk drive. In an alternative embodiment, the filter also incorporates an adsorbent material which allows it to remove both particulate and vapor phase contaminants from incoming (external) air and recirculating air within the disk drive.

  • Patent number: 6231646
Abstract: A paint overspray exhaust air filter for air laden with liquid paint overspray particulates being exhausted from an overspray paint booth includes an electrostatic charged or electret media used in conjunction with and positioned downstream of a primary high efficiency, high holding capacity overspray collection filter. The overspray air filter is designed to capture and retain virtually all of that overspray particulates contained in the air stream being exhausted from an overspray paint booth. The upstream overspray collection filter can include a single filter or additionally a secondary filter, but should be optimized to collect the overwhelming majority of the overspray particulates of a given size whereas the downstream electret media is adapted to collect overspray particulates that are smaller than the given size. The upstream overspray collection filter and the electret media can be separated or mechanically attached together.
