Patent number: 7355258Abstract: An electronic circuit is formed by closely spacing metallic gate and drain interconnects to a flexible portion of a source interconnect. A gate voltage results in electrostatic attraction and lateral mechanical movement of the flexible source interconnect portion and causes an electrical short between source and drain. VanderWaals attraction between contacting source and drain can be used to provide volatile switching (springy thicker source portion) and non-volatile switching (limp thinner source portion). In accordance with the invention, an easily fabricated, high speed, low power, radiation hard, temperature independent, integrated reconfigurable electronic circuit with embedded logic and non-volatile memory can be realized. The switch uses patterned interconnect material for its structure and can be incorporated to a 3D layered structure consisting of three dimensional interconnect in which different layers and portions of the circuits are linked through volatile and non-volatile switches.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2005Date of Patent: April 8, 2008Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Sergio Osvaldo Valenzuela, Douwe Johannes Monsma

Patent number: 7318076Abstract: A comprehensive Memory-Resident Database Management System architecture and implementation is disclosed where a) all data storage in database is in memory, b) all database management functionality is in memory except backup and recovery storage based on hard disk, c) all database objects including tables, views, triggers, procedures, functions . . . are in memory, d) all data security is at memory level, e) all data indexed, sorted and searched based on the selected search algorithms are in memory, f) all logging functionality to refresh in-between transactions reside in memory. Therefore, the processing speed of database query will take advantage of speed of RAM (Random Access Memory) without sacrifice any speed losing on Hard disk I/O. Not only the whole database is running in RAM, but also all or pre-selected database table columns are default to be indexed. All internal processing of database query is based on indexed columns.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2003Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Intelitrac, Inc.Inventors: Tianlong Chen, Jonathan Vu

Patent number: 7315800Abstract: The system and method of the present invention provides comprehensive design and installation management for agricultural water management systems. Maps and grade profiles are created from data collected by Global Positioning devices in the field. Latitude, longitude, and elevation are triangulated from GPS data to develop contour, grade, and profile maps, used to design drainage systems in real time. Customer billing information and vendor pricing information are produced from map and grade profile data. Interfacing and machine control for machines used to install drainage and/or irrigation systems are generated from contour, grade and profile data. Data is exported and imported in common file formats for efficient data exchange.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2003Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Inventors: Robert E. Meiners, Chad R. Meiners

Patent number: 7297014Abstract: An engagement system having a spring lock design to initially attach the two halves of the system together. After which the use of a multi start Acme lead screw provides a, consistent, low torque means of engagement. Although the engager requires the use of lubrication, to be applied initially, the lube is contained in a sealed environment. This eliminates the risk of contamination to electrical components and eliminates the need to apply additional lube during the products life. Because the present invention allows the ACME threads to be “meshed” at all times, it also eliminates the possibly of cross-threading.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2006Date of Patent: November 20, 2007Assignee: Virginia Panel CorporationInventors: Jeffery P. Patent number: 7255192Abstract: A self-actuating robot or vehicle tether capable of moving itself, remaining free while traversing around obstacles, and free itself is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a valve is mounted to the tether or robot. An inflow conduit attached to or in the tether is connected to the valve. A fluid flows through the tether and the valve is opened and closed to create a waterhammer effect in the inflow conduit. The forces created on the tether from the waterhammer effect result in motion of the tether and in freeing of the tether from obstructions. Closing and opening the valve further creates pressure changes in the tether, thereby causing momentary dimensional changes in the tether. In an alternative embodiment, a plurality of valves are placed along the tether. Pulsing of the plurality of valves while a fluid flows through the tether results in the tether effectively moving itself.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2004Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Douglas P. Patent number: 7187787Abstract: A method and implementation of enhancing a facial recognition process to increase the judgment confidence on identifying a person from a large image database of multiple persons. The method may include reconstructing a database of 2D images having only a small number of images with respect to each person into a database having multiple images, perhaps hundreds or thousands, of each person. The multiple images represent different camera angles or different lighting conditions. The method further includes adding an extra confidence percentage to matching images in the database when multiple images of a person are identified as matching.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2003Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Assignee: Intelitrac, Inc.Inventors: Donald A. Patent number: 7184577Abstract: An architecture and method useful for fast one-to-many image matching and image indexing. A plurality of images in a database are digitized into a plurality of descriptors. The descriptors are separated into a plurality of index groups. Index values for the images in the database are then calculated for the various index groups. An index value, for example, could be calculated as the average of the descriptors in a particular group. A source groups of images having particular index values over a particular threshold value are identified. When matching a target image to images in the database, the index values are calculated for the target image and compared to the threshold value. Source groups of images having similar index values over the threshold are then identified for further matching to the target image.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2003Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: InteliTrac, Inc.Inventors: Tianlong Chen, Yi Rui, Yingbin Wang, Yinong Wei
