  • Patent number: 5011327
Abstract: This apparatus is directed to an erosion barrier for use with a shoreline of tidal water having a flood and ebb phase in each tidal cycle in which a first tire barrier has a plurality of vertically stacked tiers of tires cut in half and positioned side by side in rows and the rows arranged in stacked tiers staggered and each tier connected to the tier immediately therebeneath. The half tires are positioned with their rounded tread positioned toward the tidal source and their open portion toward the shoreline to receive soil and sand during the ebb phase of the tidal cycle and form a tire revetment. A second barrier is spaced from the first barrier and has a plurality of horizontally disposed vertically pivoted slats positioned to unseat with the flood phase of the tidal cycle and permit water, soil and sand to pass therethrough but upon cycle change to ebb the slats will close stopping tidal flow to permit the soil and sand time to settle out to form land about the barriers before tidal cycle change.

  • Patent number: 4929408
Abstract: Electroweldable pipe sockets and fittings by forming a first tube being internally sized and cooled and on the outer side provided with a groove, having preferably a raised edge part, winding an electrical conductor in the groove, and the outer side of the first tube with electrical conductor is coated with plastics thereby maintaining the internal size of the first tube by internal cooling and sizing. In this continuous process the speeds of the first tube and of the continuous tube leaving the coating extrusion stage are equal. In the coating extrusion stage a negative pressure is maintained between the first tube and the coating to be applied.

  • Patent number: 4928422
Abstract: In accordance with my invention I provide a molded crab-like artificial lure, legless and weighted toward one end. A line attaching eye is attached to the upper side at one end and a hook is attached to the underside at the other end. The buoyant material in the construction of the lure body will cause the lure to surface when retrieval of the attached line is stopped. In one embodiment of the lure employing a bill-like projection forming a planing surface which causes the lure body to dive and which due to the light weight buoyant material will cause the lure to surface when retrieval of the fishing line is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4927109
Abstract: My invention represents an improvement over the prior art show identified in providing a combination of elements which interact in a novel way to exert a positive force to keep the boat cover taut without yielding under the rain or snow load as will happen in the Burns covers 2,390,986 and 2,474,031 as well as Wright 3,106,218. The structure of my device is provided with two end supports, one for contacting the boat floor and the other for bearing against the under side of the boat cover each support has a knurled or roughened end portion which acts as an anti-skid surface to assist the support in remaining in its installed erect condition. My support device can be easily manually rotated about the central portion to extend its length and assure positive engagement with the cover and boat floor.

  • Patent number: 4912778
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a heat reflective shield having a plurality of spherical triangular panels each having aluminum foil on one side and a heat resistant fabric adhered to the other side, for use with a hard hat. The panels are stitched together along their long sides and along their bases with binding tape to define an equatorial stitched bound base border to form a highly reflective side of the shield directed upwardly toward the crown of the hard hat thus forming a reflective heat shield to direct the heat from the sun or other hot heat sources away from the skull of the wearer of the hard hat. A strip of double sided adhesive tape is provided, one side of which is adapted to be adhered to the outside of the top of the heat reflective skull cap and the other side of which is adapted to adhere to the inside of the crown of the hard hat.

  • Patent number: 4912854
Abstract: The liquid indicating leveling device consists of a modular unit having four walls each at 90.degree. to one another, the inside surfaces of the walls having a flat non-reflective white surface together with a white back wall and having an open viewing front defining a viewing chamber. The bubble vial is disposed in the viewing chamber parallel to the bottom wall of the viewing chamber so that the vial may be viewed through the open front for both vertical and horizontal leveling. Illumination is provided for selectively maintaining the light level within the viewing chamber at a level sufficiently above ambient for taking a bubble reading without glare or reflections from outside elements. A beam is provided in which the modular unit is mounted to increase the accuracy of the unit over a greater length for more accurate readings. A cross bubble device is provided for taking both vertical and horizontal readings.

  • Patent number: 4887319
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a weather protective unitary contiguous substantially flat face and neck cover for use with hard head gear. The cover has an outer layer of non-stretchable waterproof highly reflective nylon having a liner of thermally insulated material. The cover has a top bridge portion above the face of the wearer which terminates in side flaps. Waterproof elastic piping is secured about the free edge of the cover to seat tightly about the portions of the hard hat with which it is in contact as well as to seat tightly about the face and neck of the wearer to shut out weather elements such as wind, snow, rain and the like from contact with the wearer over the area covered by the unitary face and neck cover. The side flaps extending off the top bridge portion have flap securing means to maintain the flaps connected at their free ends beneath the chin of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 4886438
Abstract: A pipe of thermoplastic polymer, e.g. polyvinylchloride is extruded by an extruder comprising an extrusion die (2) having a moulding end part (2a) with heating elements (11) located about said end part. The wall thickness of the pipe is controlled in order to obtain a pipe of a substantially even wall thickness. For said control the wall thickness of the extruded pipe is measured at 360 points equally distributed over the circumference and moreover the average is determined in eight measuring sectors comprising 45 measuring points per sector. The average of the measuring values of one measuring sector is compared with the circumferential average of the 360 points, the deviation of the desired wall thickness in said one sector being counter balanced by the action of the heating elements. In a preferred embodiment a polyvinylchloride pipe obtained by means of an two screw extruder presents an even wall thickness over the circumference.

  • Patent number: 4876789
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an apparatus for simultaneously measuring and cutting 4.times.8 panels of sheetrock having a measuring unit which has a stylus supported thereon for both vertical and horizontal movement to trace out the outline from a ceiling or wall of a panel of sheetrock to be cut directly form the wall or ceiling upon which the panel is to be installed. The cutting unit has sawing means mounted thereon for both vertical and horizontal movement positionable over a stack of 4.times.8 sheetrock panels. Electrical means connects the measuring unit to the cutting unit so that the sawing means on the cutting unit cuts a 4.times.8 panel of sheetrock both vertically and horizontally simultaneously as outlined by the stylus of the measuring unit outling the area to be paneled.

  • Patent number: 4872781
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a watertight floodable barge repair box of generally L-shape, viewed from its end, having a leg and a foot. The leg has an open front and the foot has an open top so that the box may be placed against the side of the barge and the foot beneath its bottom. A flexible waterproof membrane strip has one edge secured to a flat bar anchoring plate welded to the repair box adjacent its leg and foot openings upset at an angle thereto. A backing of flat rubber conveyor belt is bolted between the waterproof membrane and flat anchoring plate. The waterproof membrane is of a width to overlap the connection between the barge hull and barge repair box when the repair box is in place against the barge in a flooded down condition in a body of water. Cable harness or other suitable lines or chains are used to maintain the barge in place against the repair box.
