Patent number: 3973602Abstract: A funnel apparatus for use in filling a container without overflowing and which sealingly engages the filling opening of an imperforate container when the container is being filled with liquid and such apparatus has a vent which terminates below the normal liquid level in the upper portion of the apparatus when in use and through which air displaced from the container being filled must pass. The displaced air from the container creates a signal in the form of bubbles which pass through the liquid within the apparatus until the liquid level in the container closes the vent at which time the bubbles stop and the user is apprised of the fact that the container is substantially full and that pouring into the apparatus should stop. Thereafter the liquid remaining in the funnel apparatus can drain into the container without overflowing.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1974Date of Patent: August 10, 1976Inventor: Frederick W. Kruse

Patent number: 3964523Abstract: An apparatus mounted on a weaving loom for moving a weft thread carrying mechanism from one end of a loom lay to the other through the shed of the warp threads. The apparatus includes a linkage having a drive mechanism which is rotated continuously and which maintains the weft thread carrying mechanism in a fixed position for an extended dwell period and then propels the weft thread carrying mechanism across the lay after the lay has beat up a prior weft thread and has been retracted to an inoperative position. The apparatus provides a substantial reduction in the noise level and power requirement over conventional looms and permits the speed of operation to be increased to improve production.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1974Date of Patent: June 22, 1976Assignee: Wayne H. Patent number: 3946752Abstract: To prevent explosions in oil tankers, flue gases from a furnace or boiler are used to fill the oil tanks or gas tanks to reduce the oxygen content below the burning point and below where explosions would occur and it has been the practice to use the flue gases from the boilers for this purpose. However, the flue gases must be cleaned and scrubbed to remove soot and particularly sulphur dioxide to prevent corrosion in the oil receiving tanks of the tanker. However, in prior practice there has been no satisfactory way to prevent flue gases from getting into the scrubber and pump for delivering the scrubbed flue gases to the tanker tanks and the present invention includes a valve structure for preventing the passage of flue gases beyond the valve. The conventional valve is not entirely fluid tight and therefor some flue gases have entered into the scrubber and the pump and the piping to the tanks resulting in corrosion of the scrubber, pump, pipes and tanks which resulted in great loss.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1974Date of Patent: March 30, 1976Inventor: Arao A.
