Patent number: 7497620Abstract: A radiographic inspection system includes an electron gun, a fixed anode of a dense material, and apparatus for steering an electron beam generated by the electron gun to multiple focal spots on the anode. A detector includes a plurality of individual detector elements. Operation of the system includes is carried out by directing the electron beam at a first time interval to a first focal spot on the anode, generating a first X-ray beam aligned with a first detector element. During a second time interval, the electron beam is directed to a second focal spot on the anode, spaced-away from the first focal spot, generating a second X-ray beam aligned with a second detector element. This cycle is repeated with additional focal spots in a one-dimensional or two-dimensional pattern. The detector element output is read in coordination with the position of the electron beam.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2006Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Thomas William Birdwell, Andrew Joseph Galish

Patent number: 7467824Abstract: A seat for providing an improved level of protection to a child by reducing the amount of force restraining straps exert upon the child during a collision. The seat includes a seat frame and a cover positioned over the seat frame to provide comfort to a seat occupant. The seat frame includes a seat back with a slot for receiving a strap for restraining a seat occupant and an energy absorbing member. The energy absorbing member reduces the amount of force applied by the strap to the seat occupant during a sudden deceleration of the seat and comprises an elongated weakness area extending from a bottom edge of the slot. The energy absorbing member is adapted for progressive separation from the seat back during a sudden deceleration, whereby the strap is allowed to move forward, at a controlled rate, a predetermined distance during the sudden deceleration of the seat.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2007Date of Patent: December 23, 2008Assignee: Britax Child Safety, Inc.Inventors: Said Nakhla, Pankaj Tulsidas Amesar

Patent number: 7458774Abstract: A first stage turbine disk section for a gas turbine engine, including a centrally disposed disk hub having an integrally-formed, radially outwardly extending web terminating at an outer end. The disk hub has a convex, curved hub surface exposed to high pressure, high temperature compressor bleed and discharge gases during engine operation, and the convex, curved hub surface acts to reduce the axial constraint at the location of peak axial stress, thereby mitigating the formation of undesirable axial stress in the disk hub and allows separation of the peak axial and hoop stresses, thereby reducing the magnitude of the peak hub surface effective stress.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2005Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Richard William Albrecht, Jr., Craig William Higgins
