Abstract: Gel compositions are disclosed comprising a silicone elastomer from the reaction of an SiH containing organopolysiloxane resin and an organic compound having at least two aliphatic unsaturated groups in its molecule.
Abstract: Aqueous emulsions of a silicone resin are disclosed that provide a solid silicone resineous coating upon removing water from a film of the emulsion. The silicone resin emulsions are useful for treating various substrates for imparting water resistance/repellence and improving wear/weather protective properties. In particular, they are useful for rendering mineral-based building materials water-resistant, and also as binders in paints.

Abstract: Oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions and microemulsions containing elastomeric silanes or siloxanes preferably having quaternary ammonium groups are generally made by reacting organic quaternary ammonium compounds having epoxide groups or halohydrin groups, with silanes or siloxanes having amino groups. The reaction is carried out in an aqueous polar phase containing a crosslinking agent and surfactant. The emulsions and microemulsions are especially useful for treating hair, skin, or the underarm.

Abstract: An aqueous silicone emulsion forms a resin reinforced elastomeric film upon water evaporation. The emulsion composition contains a dispersed phase consisting of a silicone mixture composed of (i) a linear hydroxy terminated polydiorganosiloxane, (i) a silicone MQ resin, and (iii) an organofunctional polysiloxane. The aqueous silicone emulsion is prepared by mixing ingredients (i) to (iii) to form a mixture, adding emulsifiers and water to the mixture, mixing the ingredients to obtain an aqueous base emulsion, adjusting the pH of the base emulsion to an acidic or basic pH to facilitate crosslinking, and subsequently neutralizing the emulsion. Elastomeric films can be obtained by drying the emulsion on a substrate at ambient conditions.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the preparing silicone polyethers by reacting; (A) a polyether having at least one terminally unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group and an alkali metal content of less than 50 ppm, (B) an organohydrogensiloxane having an acid number of less than 0.005, via a hydrosilylation reaction. The process is particularly useful to prepare silicone polyethers of improved quality via a continuous process.

Abstract: An organopolysiloxane containing both an amino functional organic group and a mercapto functional organic group is disclosed. A method of making such amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes is by reacting (A) a silanol-functional polysiloxane, (B) an amino functional alkoxy silane, and (C) a mercapto functional alkoxy silane, via a condensation reaction. The amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes products are useful in textile and fabric treatments.
Abstract: A process for preparing aldehyde functional organopolysiloxanes and the products prepared therefrom is disclosed. The process involves a hydrosilylation reaction between an aldehyde having a non -conjugated unsaturated group with a polyorganohydrogensiloxane.
Abstract: A composition containing (A) a compound having at least one aliphatic unsaturation; (B) a cyclic organohydrogen-silicon crosslinking compound containing at least one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom (Sift) per molecule, prepared by a platinum catalyzed coupling reaction of a methylhydrogen cyclosiloxane, with a reactant containing aliphatic unsaturation, hydroxy functionalities, or a mixture of both; and (B1) a linear or branched acyclic organohydrogensilicon Crosslinking compound containing at least one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom per molecule. The composition can be used to prepare release coating compositions by adding (C) a platinum group metal-containing catalyst. Release coating compositions containing Components (B) and (B1) have better cure, better adhesion, and lower release forces, than release coating compositions containing only Component (B).
