Abstract: There is disclosed a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive composition based on a siloxane resin component, a polydiorganosiloxane polymer component having unsaturated groups in its molecule, a silicon hydride-functional crosslinking agent and a hydrosilation catalyst, wherein the crosslinking agent is a reaction product of a cyclic or linear organohydrogenpolysiloxane and an unsaturated organic compound selected from alpha-alkenes having 6 to 28 carbon atoms or aromatic compounds having the formula Ph-R.sup.4, wherein Ph represents a phenyl radical and R.sup.4 is a terminally unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
Abstract: A curable fluorosilicone resin composition is disclosed, which composition comprises(A) 100 parts by weight of a fluorosilicone resin obtained by cohydrolyzing a mixture of(a) 50 to 95 mole percent of a perfluoroalkyl-containing organosilane having the formula R--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 SiX.sub.3,(b) 5 to 50 mole percent of an epoxy-containing organosilane having the formula Z.sub.w SiX.sub.4-w and, optionally,(c) up to 50 mole percent of an organosilane having the formula R.sup.1.sub.n SiX.sub.4-n,wherein R is a perfluoroalkyl group containing 4 to 15 carbon atoms, X is a hydrolyzable group, Z is an epoxy-containing monovalent organic group, R.sup.
Abstract: Moisture-curable silicone pressure sensitive adhesives can be covered with an addition-cured fluorosilicone release coating to provide a releasable laminate. The release force of the laminate is low to moderate and the subsequent adhesion and tack of the adhesive is high and all three values are stable with time.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method for forming a solid, epoxy-functional silicone resin by hydrolyzing and condensing a mixture of at least one organoalkoxysilane and a beta-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)-functional trialkoxysilane in the presence of an organotitanate catalyst. The silicone resins prepared according to the instant method find utility in the formulation of powder coatings, either alone or in combination with organic resins.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method for foam control wherein the antifoam agent is an emulsion gelled silicon composition prepared by first dispersing a curable liquid organopolysiloxane composition in a liquid continuous phase to form an emulsion and then curing the liquid silicone organopolysiloxane in-situ to a gelled state. Preferred compositions of the present invention find particular utility in the control of foam in aqueous detergent systems.

Abstract: A process is disclosed wherein a telomer having the formula BrCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 (CF.sub.2 CFX).sub.n CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 Br is prepared by reacting a telogen of the formula Br(CF.sub.2 CFX).sub.n CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 Br with ethylene in the presence of an organic free-radical generator, wherein X is fluorine or a trifluoromethyl radical and n is an integer having a value of 1-5. It has been found that, when at least 0.05 mole of said free-radical generator is used for each mole of said telogen, the conversion of the telogen to the telomer is surprisingly increased.
Abstract: There is disclosed a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition based on a silicone resin and a polydiorganosiloxane polymer wherein the resin component has a number average molecular weight of about 950 to 1,600 and consists essentially of triorganosiloxy (M) units and silicate (Q) units wherein the molar ratio M/Q is in the range 1.1/1 to 1.4/1, inclusive. The adhesives of the invention exhibit improved adhesion to low energy substrates such as polyethylene and polytetrafluoroethylene.

Abstract: A film-forming organopolysiloxane composition is disclosed which imparts an excellent releaseability and lubricity to the surface of various types of rubber materials. The composition comprises a solvent dispersion of(a) 50 to 90 weight percent of a block organopolysiloxane copolymer;(b) 2 to 50 weight percent of a compound selected from the group consisting of an organosilane or a partial hydrolyzate thereof;(c) 4 to 40 weight percent of a mixture an epoxy group-containing organoalkoxysilane and an alkenyl group-containing organoacetoxysilane in a weight ratio of 1:9 to 9:1 or a condensation-reaction product thereof;(d) 0.1 to 10 weight percent of an hydroxy or alkoxy terminated diorganopolysiloxane; and(f) 0.1 to 10 weight percent of a condensation-reaction catalyst.
Abstract: A method for the preparation of an organopolysiloxane comprising polymerizing at least one organosiloxane in the presence of a strong acid catalyst, and subsequently neutralizing said catalyst by the addition of a neutralizing agent, is disclosed wherein the neutralizing agent is ammonia gas. The invention leads to a substantial abbreviation in the neutralization time and, because it affords a nearly complete neutralization of the acid catalyst, the method provides an organopolysiloxane which has excellent heat resistance.
Abstract: A primer composition, and a method for its use to improve adhesion between a silicone substrate and a subsequently applied paint film, is disclosed. The primer composition consists essentially of a mixture of an alkoxysilane, an organotitanate and a tin salt of a carboxylic acid, each component being present in a specific critical molar proportion.

Abstract: A two-step process for the preparation of a silicone resin-modified phenolic resin is disclosed wherein an alkoxysilane-modified phenolic resin is first prepared by reacting an alkoxysilane with a phenolic resin. In a subsequent step, the alkoxysilane-modified phenolic resin is hydrolyzed and condensed by heating and stirring it with water. The resulting silicone resin-modified phenolic resin, which is free of diorganopolysiloxane units, has excellent heat resistance and excellent electrical insulating properties.
Abstract: An organopolysiloxane graft-type polyester is prepared by reacting, in the presence of an effective amount of a hydrosilylation catalyst, a polyester containing at least one alkenyl group and having no unsaturated terminal groups, said polyester having a number average molecular weight of about 500 to about 5,000, and an organopolysiloxane containing one hydrosilyl group. The organopolysiloxane graft-type polyester has excellent compatibility with polyesters and can improve the surface smoothness and hydrophobic property of the polyester when modified therewith.
