  • Patent number: 6895402
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for detecting framing of a network (such as the Internet or an intranet) resource identified by a target uniform resource locator (URL), by locating a suspect URL and an associated suspect page which reference the target URL, examining the suspect page for the existence of framing, if framing exists, then checking to see if the target URL is referenced within a frame, and if the target URL is referenced within the frame, then identifying the suspect URL and the associated suspect page as framing the network resource.

  • Patent number: 6721746
Abstract: A computer-based method and system for facilitating production changes in an extended enterprise via a network environment. The system includes a manufacturing enterprise system including a host system operating a web server, a data storage device in communication with the host system, and at least one terminal for accessing the host system. The manufacturing enterprise system runs on a network that is coupled to the Internet and is accessible to an outside enterprise or trading partner identified with having proper access permissions. The server executes a set of programs for the process and product change notification application of the present invention. PCN notices and EOL requests are inputted into the manufacturing enterprise system via the process and product change notification application where required data are supplied, destination resources of affected parties are determined and decisions are calculated according to these inputs.

  • Patent number: 6611835
Abstract: A system and method for updating search engine information that is more efficient, less time-consuming, and less costly than prior techniques. In order to carry out the method a uniform resource locator indicating a Web page for which the search engine information is to be updated is selected. The selected uniform resource locator is transmitted to a server on which the Web page is located. A response code indicating a status of the Web page is received and the search engine information is updated based on the response code.

  • Patent number: 6604079
Abstract: Calendar entries provide for a wealth of information. For example, for a meeting, information such as the start date, subject, attendees, and location are provided. Yet, when writing a follow up e-mail, that's exactly the information a user has to copy/or cut and paste from the calendar entries to the e-mail. Significant time is saved by automatically finding the relevant calendar entry(ies), extracting the known information, and augmenting that information into the e-mail and sending it via a server.

  • Patent number: 6577755
Abstract: An optical character recognition (OCR) system is provided, in which syntactical and semantic rules, provided along with an input image to be scanned and applicable to the contents of the scanned image, are used in connection with the results of the OCR scan to identify the scanned characters. As a result, the recognition rate and confidence are enhanced. By providing the checking based on syntactical and semantic rules within the OCR system, application programs which would receive and use the OCR results are freed from the added burden of having to perform their own syntactical and/or semantic checking on the OCR results the application programs receive from the OCR system.

  • Patent number: 6564257
Abstract: Protecting a searchable repository containing a document locator when a user searches the repository for the document locator, by replacing the document locator with a unique time-sensitive key. The document locator may be a uniform resource locator, or URL. A user search request is intercepted, each URL in the original search result is extracted and replaced with a key, and the altered result returned to the user. When the user selects the key from the search result within the expiration interval, the associated URL and document are able to be retrieved.

  • Patent number: 6529939
Abstract: Maintenance of a repository of summary data about documents associated with document locators, the repository of summary data stored separately from the documents and containing the document locators, when a user requests a document associated with one of the document locators, by requesting the document associated with the document locator; receiving a result based on the request; analyzing the result to determine the validity of the document locator; and requesting an update of the repository based on the validity of the document locator. In a network environment, the document locators are uniform resource locators, or URLs. The repository update may for example take the form of deleting the URL from the repository, or moving it to another location for further examination.

  • Patent number: 6519699
Abstract: Private user data is securely entered from a public location in a way that the private user data cannot be ascertained by observers. A voice agent generates vocal instructions for a user, instructing the user to enter response data. The vocal instructions are communicated to the user with a telephonic link, in a manner that is secure from observers of entry of the response data. The instructions implement an encryption function, which causes the private user data to be encrypted within the response data. The response data is entered by the user vocally into a telephone, or by pressing buttons on a telephone keypad, or by pressing keys on a computer keyboard. The response data entered by the user is received by a security agent, which ascertains the private user data from the response data, and which also determines the validity of the data.

  • Patent number: 6487553
Abstract: A method and apparatus which enables a user to streamline the number of results presented to the user during a search session most typically performed over the Internet. The present invention allows the user to select specific results from a search result set which are to be excluded and are not to reappear in a subsequent result set in the search session. The present invention is capable of automatically excluding results from a search result set unless the user specifically flags the specific search results they want to keep and have reappear in a subsequent result set in the search session. This allows a user to save time during a search session by not having to view repeated results, and allows the user to focus on more relevant and related results.

  • Patent number: 6276987
Abstract: Determination of an endpoint for removing a film from a wafer, by determining a first reference point removal time indicating when a breakthrough of the film has occurred, determining a second reference point removal time indicating when the film has been polished almost to completion, determining an additional removal time indicating an overpolishing interval, and adding the second reference point removal time with the additional removal time to get a total removal time to the endpoint.

  • Patent number: 6268259
Abstract: An overhanging separator structure with a post projecting from a surface which may be a substrate, an underlying layer on the surface, and a separator layer on the underlying layer, with the separator layer overhanging the underlying layer. A discontinuous film is then formed in a single process step having a first portion on the separator layer and a second portion on the post, the discontinuity caused by the overhanging separator layer. The structure is made into a stacked capacitor with the second (post) portion of the discontinuous film being the bottom electrode, by forming a continuous dielectric layer on the bottom electrode and a continuous top electrode layer on the dielectric layer.

  • Patent number: 6228280
Abstract: A method for detecting the endpoint for removal of a target film overlying a stopping film by chemical-mechanical polishing using a slurry, by removing the target film with a polishing process that generates a chemical reaction product (for example ammonia when polishing a wafer with a nitride film in a slurry containing KOH) in the slurry, adding to the slurry a reagent which produces a characteristic result upon reacting with the chemical reaction product, and monitoring the slurry for the characteristic result as the target film is removed.

  • Patent number: 6204112
Abstract: A method for forming an integrated circuit device, and the product thereby produced, are disclosed. The disclosed method includes the steps of obtaining a substrate with a patterned gate conductor and cap insulator, forming a dielectric masking layer having at least one opening, and, using the opening in the dielectric masking layer as a mask, forming a trench capacitor which is self-aligned to the cap insulator edge. The method is particularly useful for a producing a DRAM device having a dense array region with self-aligned deep trench storage capacitors connected by buried straps.

  • Patent number: 6194230
Abstract: Detection of the endpoint for removal of a target film overlying a stopping film by removing the target film with a process that selectively produces a gaseous chemical reaction product (for example ammonia when polishing a wafer with a nitride film in a slurry containing KOH) with one of the stopping film and the target film, mixing the gaseous chemical reaction product present with a separate gas to form solid particles, and monitoring the amount of the solid particles as the target film is removed. Also, detection of a substance at very low concentrations in a liquid, by extracting the substance present as a gas from the liquid, mixing the gas with another substance to form solid particles, and monitoring the amount of the solid particles to detect the substance.
