  • Patent number: 4128184
Abstract: A child-proof container and cap combination is disclosed which seals the contents of the container against moisture vapor deterioration by making a seal which is "tight" by industry standards. The cap requires less than seven inch pounds of torque for removal. The seal is obtained by the cooperation of a flexible sealing lip on a separate element supported or disposed on the interior surface of the cap and cooperating with a rigid tapered sealing surface on the container.

  • Patent number: 4030857
Abstract: This invention relates to a fluid actuated paint pump for high pressure airless spray guns and includes a novel unloading system in combination with a self-reversing fluid motor connected to a double-acting pump which supplies paint from a reservoir to an airless spray gun at a pressure which may run as high as 3500 psi.

  • Patent number: 4020965
Abstract: A two-piece "push and turn" child resistant closure is disclosed in which an inner cap member has a threaded connection with a vial or bottle which is capable of making a good sealing connection to protect the contents of the container against deterioration. The outer member has a series of protuberances, or a preferably square configuration which greatly improves the utility of the closure for persons having arthritis or other ailments which make it difficult to turn a round closure. Leaf spring operating spring elements are housed in the corners of the protuberances of the outer member.

  • Patent number: 3990609
Abstract: A spill preventing diaphragm attachment for a paint spray gun paint cup as shown. The diaphragm is engaged around the mouth of the paint cup and forms, with the undersurface of the paint cup lid, a chamber above the paint in the cup that is deeper at one side than the other. At the deep side, oriented 180.degree. away from the vent opening in the lid is a vent opening in the diaphragm. Any paint that might flow through the diaphragm vent opening as a result of tipping the spray gun drains back into the cup as soon as the gun is righted. The diaphragm is readily replaceable without tools.

  • Patent number: 3975140
Abstract: Space heaters employing an omnidirectional infrared radiant burner are disclosed. Cylindrical in shape, the radiant burner includes an inner cylindrical mantle comprised of three concentric fine-mesh grids which are formed from flat mesh stock. The outer of the mantle grids has a seam which is bonded to form a continuous cylinder, while the inner grids each have the shape of a split O with an open break line therein. The inner two concentric mantle grids are inserted inside the outer bonded grid, which retains them against their tendency to spring outwardly. Concentrically outward from the mantle is a larger mesh outer grid defining a radiant element, both the mantle and outer grid being retained by a pair of end caps having inner and outer annular flanges. In the lower end cap is an inlet opening for air and fuel and across the opening is a very fine mesh grid which causes turbulence and insures proper mixing of the air and fuel. The two opposed end caps are retained together by axially extending pins.

  • Patent number: 3967149
Abstract: This invention relates to spark plugs for internal combustion engines and is particularly directed to a center electrode having a sparking tip composed of a precious metal and to the method of making the same. The known advantage of the use of a precious metal electrode is that considerably greater spark plug life is achieved. The invention achieves the advantage while greatly reducing the mass of precious metal employed. A further feature of the invention is the co-planar disposition of the end of the center electrode and its supporting insulator.

  • Patent number: 3966071
Abstract: A pressure relieving bottle closure is disclosed. The closure is of thin metal construction having an internal sealing disc and adapted to be received by a preferably screw threaded bottle neck to form top and side seals with finish surfaces of the bottle. The sealing material comprises a resilient liner within the closure. In the area of the side skirt of the metal portion of the closure which forms the area disposed over the side seal is at least one opening. If excessive pressure develops inside the bottle, pressurized fluid first escapes through the top seal of the bottle and, upon reaching the area of the side seal over which the said opening is located, pushes the sealing liner outwardly into the opening to escape through the side seal to the exterior of the bottle. The closure again seals when the excess pressure has been relieved, provided that the sealing material used possesses sufficient resiliency.

  • Patent number: 3963417
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing solid tires from tubular rim bands is disclosed. A transverse cut is first made through the annular rubber tire, then the tubular rim band is heated at its inside surface to a temperature high enough to break the bond between the tire and the outer surface of the band. Also disclosed is an apparatus utilizing gas-fired infrared heat to effect the heating of the rim band.
