  • Patent number: 6997569
Abstract: Actuator mechanism for adjusting the position of a mirror element in a wing mirror for a motor vehicle, comprising an electric motor and a mirror adjusting element movably coupled therewith via a drive train. The drive train comprises a main gear which is included in the drive train nearer to the mirror adjusting element and further comprises a pinion being in mesh with the main gear, which pinion is included in the drive train nearer to the electric motor. The main gear and the pinion cooperate through an evoloid toothing. The invention also relates to a wing mirror for a motor vehicle in which at least one actuator mechanism is included.

  • Patent number: 6989680
Abstract: An impedance spectroscopy technique and system for detecting in real time engine coolant contamination in lubricant. A probe is disposed in the lubricant and the probe excited with an a.c. voltage frequency sweep over a selected frequency range. The current and current phase angle are measured at selected frequency intervals and the reactance and resistance computed and plotted at each frequency internal as Nyquist plots. The Nyquist minimum is determined at various lubricant temperatures and a database compiled. The probe is then excited in-situ and current measurements taken for a selected frequency lower than the Nyquist minimum to insure measurement of electrode surfaces characteristics. The reactance and resistance are then computed and the angle ? of change (slope) of reactance with respect to resistance computed. The value of ? is then compared with values of contamination concentration ? versus ? in a database, and the value of ? determined by interpolation.

  • Patent number: 6984986
Abstract: A database is compiled of values of the frequency fNM corresponding to the minimum reactance Z?MIN (Nyquist minimum) versus temperature TL over a selected range of temperatures for a probe immersed in a sample of the fluid to be monitored and excited by an a.c. voltage and the frequency swept over a range to cover both bulk fluid and electrode interface impedance characteristics. The probe is then excited in situ and the temperature measured. The Nyquist minimum is then determined from the database and the current measured on the low frequency (interfacial) side of the Nyquist minimum. The angle ? of the rate of change of resistance Z? with respect to resistance Z? and magnitude of the impedance ZS is then determined from the current measurement; and, the fluid condition ? determined from a previously compiled database of values of ?, ZS and ?.

  • Patent number: 6959727
Abstract: A check valve for connection in a fuel tank filler tube. The valve has a tubular body with a plurality of radially inwardly extending vanes or ribs in the inlet end about a portion of the circumference. The ribs are tapered in the flow direction to deflect the end of a siphoning hose to an offset opening. A valve seat and poppet with a tapered surface are disposed downstream of the ribs, clearance apertures are formed in the side of the tubular body downstream of the valve seat. The tapered surface of the poppet, upon being opened by insertion of the end of a siphoning hose deflects the hose outwardly through the clearance apertures to facilitate further insertion into the tank. The poppet is biased normally closed by a spring.

  • Patent number: 6948514
Abstract: A solenoid operated spool valve has a dampening reservoir formed at one end of the spool and which is ported for immersion in a fluid sump. The reservoir port is oriented vertically above the spool and a cap with an offset port is received over the reservoir port to baffle fluid flow from the reservoir and prevent the reservoir from draining when the port is fluid starved in the sump.

  • Patent number: 6945290
Abstract: A check valve assembly is designed for insertion in an existing fuel tank filler tube having a mechanical nozzle seal and a vapor recirculation port. The insert has an integrally formed ground strap/tab for grounding a refueling nozzle and an attached flexible flapper positioned adjacent the recirculation port by an integrally formed spring tab. The insert has friction tabs for engaging the inner surface of the filler tube for retaining the check valve assembly in the filler tube.

  • Patent number: 6932100
Abstract: A flapper valve for push-in snap-lock attachment to a spud to be welded to a fuel tank and attached to a flexible filler tube hose. The flapper has an annular flexible seal overmolded thereon, preferably of elastomeric material. The flapper has a pair of trunnions, one of which has an extension or spindle with a torsion spring received thereover with one end of the torsion spring slidably anchored to a post on the flapper to form a flapper subassembly. The opposite end of the torsion spring is deflected to fit in a slot or groove in the body when the trunnions are snapped into slots formed by deflectable fingers formed integrally on the exterior of the tubular valve body for pivoting the flapper. Deflector vanes are provided on the upstream side of the flapper to protect the seal from the end of a siphon hose.

  • Patent number: 6929374
Abstract: A movement mechanism comprises a substantially spherical holder and a substantially bowl-shaped ring, which, when inserted into each other, are rotatable relative to each other about at least one first axis (A), which lies in a plane which is substantially parallel with the top face of the holder. Driving means are provided for enabling movement of the holder relative to the ring. These driving means comprise a non-straight driving rod bearing-mounted in the holder and means for activating the driving rod. The driving rod is further connected with a driving part, which is rotatably mounted in a recess in the ring relative to a second axis (B), which second axis (B) lies in a plane equal or parallel to the top face of the ring, and which second axis (B) lies at an angle of approximately 90° to the first axis (A).

  • Patent number: 6929031
Abstract: An electro-hydraulic manifold assembly with a plurality of solenoid operated valves disposed on a manifold block and each operable to control pressure from the inlet to a separate outlet. Sensing ports are provided in each outlet with a pressure sensor sealed over the sensing port for providing a signal indicative of the sensed pressure. The pressure sensors are mounted on a lead frame and connected to conductive strips in the lead frame. The lead frame has slots therein which permit the frame to be simultaneously electrically connected by bayonet connection to the terminals on each solenoid valve as the transducers are sealed over the sensing ports and the lead frame attached to the manifold block.
