  • Patent number: 4132251
Abstract: Apparatus for deploying a plurality of twisted pairs of wires and separating the two wires of each pair comprises a templet having recesses extending thereacross in one direction. Each recess has one portion which is dimensioned to receive a single twisted pair of wires and the one portion of each recess merges with another portion comprising two separate recesses, each of which is dimensioned to receive one wire only of a twisted pair. The twisted pairs are pressed onto the recesses by a roller which moves across the surface. A controller is mounted adjacent to, and in advance of, the roller and the twisted pairs extend from beneath the roller over the controller. When the roller approaches the portions of each recess which receive only a single wire, the spacing between the roller and the controller changes so that they are separated by a distance substantially equal to the diameter of a single wire.

  • Patent number: 4132252
Abstract: Templet and roller means for deploying a plurality of wires comprising a templet block having a working surface extending thereacross to one end and a triangular deploying surface and staging surface recessed within the working surface at a position intermediate of the surface. A plurality of grooves and ridges diverge from the deploying surface and extend to the one end, each groove being dimensioned to receive one wire. Upon positioning the wires upon the staging surface with the axis extending toward the other end, and upon movement of the roller over the working surface towards the other end, the wires are successively diverted into the grooves and positioned in side-by-side spaced-apart relationship.

  • Patent number: 4128295
Abstract: Connecting device which is intended to be installed on a conductor comprises rotatable male and female parts having conductor receiving bores extending therethrough. The bores are eccentric relative to the axis of rotation of the parts so that the opening defined by the bores is constricted when the parts are rotated relative to each other thereby to establish an electrical connection with the conductor. The invention is characterized by its simplicity, ease of manufacture, and by the fact that it can be applied to the conductor without the need of specialized tools.

  • Patent number: 4128296
Abstract: A two piece electrical terminal for use with stranded electrical wires such as those used in aluminum utility cables is disclosed. A device for establishing this electrical termination comprises two mutually rotatable members each having eccentric bores. Misalignment of the bores results in the establishment of intimate metal-to-metal contact between the individual strands and between the outer strands and with the die-cast body of the connector.

  • Patent number: 4127312
Abstract: Multi-conductor electrical connector comprises a body member having oppositely directed first and second faces and contact terminals mounted therein. The terminals have wire-receiving portions extending from the first face and have receptacle portions on the second face, the receptacle portions being dimensioned to be mated with a contact portion of a similar or identical terminal. The first and second faces are complementary to each other so that the connector body can be plugged at both faces to another connector body. The connector body can be used with an identical connector body or with other housing parts to form a pluggable multi-wire splice, a tap connection, and to install new equipment in a telephone cable.

  • Patent number: 4125137
Abstract: Apparatus for deploying a plurality of wires in predetermined co-planar relationship to each other comprises a templet plate having a plurality of wire-receiving grooves extending thereacross. The grooves diverge from each other so that wires positioned in the grooves will be located in predetermined spaced-apart relationship. The wires are pressed into the grooves by a roller which is movable across the templet plate. In order to control the wires and to ensure proper placement of the wires in the grooves, a controller member is disposed in front of the roller and movable with the roller across the templet. The controller elevates portions of the wires which are adjacent to the roller and approximately aligns the individual wires with the grooves into which they are to be pressed.
