  • Patent number: 5158235
Abstract: A turbulence-quelling fluid-flow controller and method having a housing with a fluid flow passageway and a vane member disposed in the passageway. Inclined surfaces extend on the member between the vanes, and the inclined surfaces and the vanes have the fluid flowing thereagainst and direct the flow to a nozzle, all for quelling turbulence in the flow. The method diverts the flow from the first path and into a second path, at a right angle to the first path, and between vanes, all for quelling.

  • Patent number: 4995454
Abstract: A heat exchanger with two concentrically disposed corrugated tubes nested one within the other for the flow of two separated fluids through the exchanger. Each tube has convolutions, and fluid openings or passageways exist for directing flow completely through each convolution of each tube for optimum heat exchange. Endplates are provided on the exchanger for assembly, and also for ease of repair and cleaning of the exchanger. The arrangement of the convolutions and openings is such that a cardioid flow pattern is obtained for the maximum efficiency of heat exchange.

  • Patent number: 4924663
Abstract: A mower-mounted grass catcher and reel lawn mower assembly and method of making same. The catcher has two spaced-apart bores which receive two pins on the mower for mounting the catcher in a cantilever manner and on the mower. The bores are strengthened and are located in the opposite sides of the catcher which also has two handles for maneuvering the catcher. The upper panel and the lower panel of the catcher, adjacent the opening for the clippings, are reinforced with ribbing. The catcher is molded for extra-strength in the area defining the bores.

  • Patent number: 4923381
Abstract: A press tooling transfer system which includes a track system having a turntable for directing a carriage, with the tool set, between several stations and a press. There is overhead service and power supply connected with the carriages for reaching to all station positions of the carriage, and there is no requirement for any power drive or the like below the level of the tracks supporting the carriages. Also, the system is in duplicative form with respect to its carriages, tracks, presses, and overhead supply, but the system can utilize a common or single knock-out station for the duplicative portions of the system, as mentioned.

  • Patent number: 4819929
Abstract: Apparatus and method of feeding sheets to a sheet gatherer, comprising moving the sheets along a horizontal path and then arcuately downwardly to lay the sheets in the gatherer hopper. The sides of the sheets are supported by members which have irregular surfaces disposed in vertical upstanding planes for engaging the opposite sides edges of the upstanding sheets and thereby support the sheets while advancing them toward the hopper. The sheets are continuously moved from a loading position and in the horizontal direction and then through a downwardly extending arc and into the hopper.

  • Patent number: 4793227
Abstract: Apparatus and method for trimming signatures moving in a continuous stream and in an arcuate path as controlled by a conveyor. A trimming knife is stationarily disposed adjacent the arcuate path for engaging the marginal edges of the signatures and trimming those edges. Input and output conveyors are in signature-flow communication with the conveyor of the arcuate path, and either input or output conveyor can be reversed for the input and output function, and also the conveyor having the arcuate path can accordingly be reversed so that the signatures can move in either continuous arcuate path of movement for the trimming process.

  • Patent number: 4747593
Abstract: An upstanding sheet support system which utilizes either brushes or a jagged configuration member for engaging the opposite sides of sheets standing in a horizontal bundle where the sheets are standing on their edges on a floor. The side support members can either be stationary or moving, for supporting the sheets, and there is no requirement for any other support of the sheets, such as the requirement of the usual backstop, special handling, or binding of the bundle, since the sheets are self-standing by virtue of the spaced-apart engaging the opposite sides of the sheets in the bundle.
