Abstract: Novel s-triazine compounds containing at least one N,N-bis(alkoxy or hydroxyalkoxy-carbonyl-amino C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkyl) amino substituent function in self-condensation and as cross-linkers for compounds containing active hydrogen groups. The compositions cure to coatings with excellent properties, especially corrosion resistance, humidity resistance, abrasion resistance and flexibility. The coatings have excellent exterior durability.
Abstract: Glycoluril based amino resin powder coating compositions have improved flow out and viscosity characteristics when a rheology improving additive selected from alkali metal oxides, alkali metal hydroxides, alkali metal carbonates, alkaline earth metal carbonates, alkaline earth metal oxides, alkaline earth metal hydroxides, aluminum oxides, aluminum hydroxides, aluminum carbonates, zinc salts of long chain fatty acids, aluminum salts of long chain fatty acids, monoamines, dismines, or mixtures thereof are added.

Abstract: Substantially alternating, organic solvent soluble copolymers of 2000 to 4000 molecular weight useful as crosslinking agents and containing monomeric units derived from monomers comprising (i) 40 to 50 mole percent of an isopropenyl-.alpha.,.alpha.-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate, and (ii) 60 to 45 mole percent of an unsaturated ester are described together with processes for their preparation. Abstract: A novel, one component self-crosslinking resin and a process for its preparation are provided. The resin is the copolymer of:(I) N-hydroxysuccinimide-blocked meta-isopropenylalpha, alpha-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate;(II) a hydroxy group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer such as hydroxyethyl acrylate; and(III) optionally, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer free of hydroxy groups such as methylmethacrylate or butyl acrylate.The copolymers are useful as thermally stable fast curing one component resins for paint, and produce, upon heat curing, films and objects with good hardness and solvent resistance.

Abstract: An improved process for preparing a one component self-crosslinking resin is provided. The process for making the self-crosslinking resin is carried out by copolymerizing an oxime-blocked m-isopropenyl-alpha, alpha-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate (m-TMI), hydroxyethyl acrylate, and another unsaturated monomer at 75.degree. C. to 85.degree. C. in a polar organic solvent having a dipole moment of at least 3, such as acetonitrile. The polar solvent retards the thermal deblocking of the blocked TMI, thereby preventing the premature self-crosslinking and gelation of the copolymerization product prior to its use as a self-crosslinking resin.
