  • Patent number: 8159367
Abstract: A method and apparatus for validating a distance output of a phase ranging RFID location system, based upon the phase readings included in data sets obtained from monitoring reply signals corresponding to interrogation signals at multiple frequencies and a common interrogation signal beam direction; by comparison of measured phase and frequency data sets with theoretical phases calculated with respect to the same frequencies over a range of positions corresponding to a beam extent of the interrogation signal. The distance output validated by comparison with theoretical threshold data processed to generate an extreme values distribution from which a cumulative distribution function is extracted and against which a confidence level is applied.

  • Patent number: 8157587
Abstract: A stabilizing coupling body assembly for a coaxial connector is provided with a coupling body dimensioned to couple at a connector end of the coupling body with a cable end of the connector. A jacket grip of rigid material is retained between the coupling body and a stabilizing body coupled to a cable end of the coupling body. An outer diameter of the jacket grip abuts an annular wedge surface of the stabilizing body. The wedge surface is provided with a taper between a maximum diameter proximate a connector end of the jacket grip and a minimum diameter proximate a cable end of the annular wedge surface. The jacket grip is driven radially inward as the stabilizing body is advanced axially towards the coupling body. Methods of manufacture include forming elements of the coupling body assembly via injection molding.

  • Patent number: 8155050
Abstract: A satellite communications interoperability module and method for frequency down-conversion. The module insertable in-line with an intra-facility link communicating a multiplexed signal between the outdoor unit (ODU) and the indoor unit (IDU). Electrical circuitry of the module transforming and forwarding the multiplexed signal over the intra-facility link, the multiplexed signal including at least direct current, a standard tone, and L-band data signals. Switching means of the module specifies operations performed by the electrical circuitry to transform the multiplexed signal frequencies, waveforms and voltages according to predetermined parameters compatible between the ODU and the IDU. An interoperability method for compatibility with a range of different indoor units applied by the interoperability module and or incorporated into an integral ODU is application of a second frequency shift upon the L-band signal output from the ODU primary down-conversion circuit.
