  • Patent number: 5039843
Abstract: A safety cutout device for electric loads, particularly for use in pressing irons and portable heating apparatus, has a temperature switch, such as a bimetallic switch, which is adapted to be connected in series with the electric load. An electrical component adapted to be connected in parallel with the load and having an open and a closed switching state, and being normally open, is connected in series with a resistor adapted to be connected in parallel with the load and arranged in heat transfer relationship with the temperature switch and for heating the temperature switch to its operating temperature to open the switch. A further resistor, which continuously bridges and heats the temperature switch to an extent sufficient to maintain the temperature switch in its actuated open position, is connected in parallel with the temperature switch and adapted to be connected in series with the load.

  • Patent number: 4991279
Abstract: A clamp for a fuel injection nozzle of an internal combustion engine includes a beam element which is forked at one end for engagement with surfaces on the nozzle and at its other end engages a reaction member. Intermediate its ends the beam element is apertured to receive a threaded member engaged with the cylinder head of the engine whereby the nozzle is clamped in a bore in the cylinder head. The beam element is formed from strip material and is dimensioned so that the force which can be applied to the nozzle is limited by the elastic deformation of the beam element.

  • Patent number: 4964424
Abstract: This invention relates to a pneumatic valve assembly for controlling a compressed air stream in response to a non-contacting actuation. It is desired to provide such a valve assembly which is adapted to control high working pressures without an intermediate amplifier. This is accomplished in that a pivoted one-armed or double-armed lever is provided with a permanent magnet on one side or on each of both sides of its pivotal axis and via a ferromagnetic or magnetic actuating member which is moved into the proximity of the permanent magnet or magnets and via a plunger causes a pilot orifice to be opened or closed, which orifice is adapted to be flown through by a pilot air stream for actuating a pilot piston for moving a valve piston to positions in which the valve is opened or closed.

  • Patent number: 4949632
Abstract: A circuit permits of monitoring the temperature and the color of coffee in the drums of roasting equipment, and controlling the flow of hot air with dampers operated in pairs by respective stepping motors. The dampers are moved through a succession of proportioning positions in a definite sequence of two stages; an initial, continuous movement that approximates to the thermal transition required, followed by a series of discrete steps producing a fine adjustment; thus it becomes possible to ensure that the set pre-roast and roast temperatures are reached in the drums at the prescribed moment in time.

  • Patent number: 4947834
Abstract: A device is disclosed which comprises at least one sleeve having a number of chambers. The sleeve may be placed around the patient's extremity which is to be treated, and the chambers can be inflated and deflated by means of valves. To accomplish an optimum treatment of the patient and an uncomplicated construction of the device, all the valves are connected in series and arranged to be operated successively in cascade-fashion via common feed and control pipes which are connected only to the first valve, whilst downstream each pair of mutually adjacent valves are interconnected via sections of feed and control pipes. In each valve a valve member such as a diaphragm separates a supply volume of the valve, which is in constant communication with an infeeding feed pipe section and with the assoicated chamber, from a valve control volume which is in constant communication with the control pipe.

  • Patent number: 4946528
Abstract: An improved method for producing a protective-coated steel pipe in a construction work site by spirally winding and melt-bonding a belt-like thermoplastic synthetic resin sheet around the outer peripheral surface of a steel pipe, for use as a construction member in corrosive circumstances, the method provides a winding step winding the sheet around the outer peripheral surface of the steel pipe while contacting adjacent side end faces of the sheet in a face-to-face relation to each other and a bonding step of heat melt-bonding the adjacent sheet portions to each other in the contacted state of the respective side end faces while pressing both sheet portions together by a pressing means when they begin to melt. Also disclosed is an equipment used for practicing the said method. According to these method and equipment, the resin of the sheet comes into completely close contact with the steel pipe so the corrosion resistance of the pipe is improved remarkably.

  • Patent number: 4938975
Abstract: A method of preparing a food product, such as a pizza, supported on a handle held by a diner while being eaten. Pizza dough is prepared and then rolled out into sheets of dough which are cut into rectangular-shaped pieces. A handle with a disc is laid within one longitudinal margin of the piece. Two longitudinal margins and one transverse margin are moistened to develop adhesiveness. The central portion of the piece is filled with a food filler abutting the disc. The unmoistened margin is lapped over the food filler to form a generally cylindrical pouch. The transverse moistened margin is lapped over the unmoistened margin to form a seal. The upper longitudinal margin is crimped together to seal the pouch at the top, and the lower longitudinal margin is crimped against the disc and the handle to provide good support of the food product on the handle. Thereafter, the formed food product is heated for a predetermined time to form an edible pizza.

  • Patent number: 4936755
Abstract: A rotary distributor fuel pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine has a pair of pumping plungers housed in a diametrical bore formed in the distributor member. The plungers at a predetermined position during their inward movement open a spill path to terminate delivery of fuel through an outlet. The one plunger defines a plunger bore and the other plunger has an integral piston slidable therein. The piston has a relieved portion adjacent the other plunger which with the wall of the plunger bore forms a flow path from the pumping chamber the flow path communicating with a port at a predetermined position during the inward movement. The pumping chamber is of annular form and is defined between the plungers and the wall of the bore in the distributor member and the piston.

  • Patent number: 4930998
Abstract: A rotary distributor type fuel injection pump has a pair of angularly adjustable stop rings having shaped internal surfaces which can engage with the cam followers of the pump to limit the outward movement of the pump plungers. The stop rings are interconnected by a saddle member and a spring biases the saddle member into engagement with a stop. The stop which may be adjustable determines the normal maximum amount of fuel which can be supplied by the pump. For starting purposes the stop rings are moved to an excess fuel position which is achieved by a pin engaged in a slot in one of the rings. The pin is spring biased to move the one end and hence the other ring to an excess fuel position and is coupled to a fluid pressure operable piston which when the associated engine is started is moved by fluid pressure to move the pin to allow the spring to move the saddle member and stop into engagement with the stop.
