  • Patent number: 5544501
Abstract: A knitting needle for a chainstitch knitting machine is disclosed wherein protuberances are introduced into the shank of the needle in order to prevent the needle from changing its position within a groove of the needle bar so that the needle hooks maintain an even distance between each other to avoid flaws in the knitted material such as striping. The protuberances are impressed into the material of the shank of the needle by pressing tools. In one embodiment, three protuberances are pressed into the shank to thereby create a three point abutment on one side of the shank against one wall of the groove, while the other side of the shank abuts against the other wall of the groove. In another embodiment, wave-like through bends are created which create linear bends normal to the longitudinal extent of the needle shank. this will assure a linear abutment of the protuberance against one wall of the groove rather than a point contact.

  • Patent number: 5491301
Abstract: A shielding method which utilizes a three dimensional structure and is effective to a source of the electromagnetic radiation noise, and a circuit board employing the same are obtained. Further, for the purpose of making the shielding function at an enclosure level unnecessary and realizing the recycling of enclosure materials by using this circuit board, in a circuit board structure having at least a signal layer, a power source layer and a ground layer, a signal line on the signal layer which is sandwiched between the two conductor layers made up of the power source layer and the ground layer, or the power source layers or the ground layers, is enclosed in a three dimensional manner with the conductor layers, thereby to form a single or double electrical closed loop current path or paths. By adopting this structure, there is obtained the effect that the electromagnetic radiation noise radiated from the circuit board is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 5483443
Abstract: A process is disclosed for calculating a Current Procedural Terminology ("CPT") code from input received from a physician or other medical professional. The physician is prompted with lists of choices corresponding to a patient's medical status. The physician makes selections from these lists which are then input into a computer. The computer then determines intermediate codes from the physician's selections. After the physician has completed entering selections, the computer then calculates a final CPT code for reimbursement purposes based on the previously calculated intermediate codes.

  • Patent number: 5480238
Abstract: The invention aims at selecting a recording sheet discharge mode in accordance with user's priority of printing speed or printed image quality. In the thermal transfer printer, when discharge concurrent with printing is selected, a microcomputer operates to rotate a mode motor to close a transport passage between a guide member and a platen roller by means of a sheet discharge plate. Starting printing by rotating the platen roller in this state, the leading end of a recording sheet is delivered to a discharge opening, which is defined by the guide member and a guide plate, and introduced between sheet discharge rollers and idler rollers. When separate discharge after printing is selected, the microcomputer starts printing without rotating the mode motor. The sheet discharge plate closes the discharge opening defined by the guide member and the guide plate. The leading end of the recording sheet is delivered to the transport passage between the guide member and the platen roller.

  • Patent number: 5466641
Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide a process for forming a practical polycrystalline silicon film of large crystal grain diameters, which is for use in channels of thin film transistors. The polycrystalline silicon film is formed by surface-pretreating a surface of a silicon oxide film as the undermost layer with an etching liquid, e.g., rinsing the surface with an etching liquid, such as hydrogen fluoride, ammonium hydrogen peroxide or others, then depositing an amorphous silicon film, and annealing the amorphous silicon film.

  • Patent number: 5462384
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-contained bollard device of variable height for dispensing electricity supplies or various fluids, the device comprising vertically movable equipment, supporting a bollard, which contains a co-axial rotary shutter. Rotation of the shutter, which is controlled by a lock with pins, presents a dispensing surface to the user or closes the window of the bollard. A single wrench-type key controls holding of the bollard in the raised or lowered positions, and also rotation of the shutter, by means of two identical locks. The bollard includes safety devices, in particular to interrupt the electricity supply when the shutter starts to rotate or the bollard starts to descend, and also in the event of a shock. The field of the invention is that of street furniture, and in particular for equipping places open to the public, such as marketplaces, camping sites, quays or piers, and service stations.
