  • Patent number: 8272998
Abstract: The present invention includes a treadmill system including a support platform, a liquid tank, and a lift support structure connected to a treadmill assembly by a lifting mechanism. In general, the liquid tank and the lift, support structure including the treadmill assembly move horizontally relative to and independent of one another along the support platform to position the lift support structure away from or about the liquid tank. In addition, the treadmill assembly moves vertically relative to and independent of the lift support structure using the lifting mechanism to lower or raise the treadmill assembly within an interior of the liquid tank or exterior of the liquid tank. More importantly, the combination of the horizontal movement and the vertical movement of the treadmill assembly permits a mammal to step onto the treadmill assembly before the treadmill assembly is raised and then lowered into an interior of the liquid tank.

  • Patent number: 8250798
Abstract: A frame back retainer for a multi-use frame includes a tab-like structure and a fastening structure. The tab-like structure defines an aperture at a first end and defines a graduated ramp portion at a second end. The tab-like structure includes at least one securing arm depending from the tab-like structure near the aperture. The fastening structure is positioned through the aperture of the tab-like structure and mounted to the multi-use frame. The fastening structure defines a raised pedestal profile from a surface of the multi-use frame for allowing rotation of the tab-like structure relative to the fastening structure. The at least one securing arm engaging an outer edge of the fastening structure to rotatably attach the fastening structure to the tab-like structure. In operation, the user rotates the tab-like structure relative to the fastening structure about an axis to engage or disengage the graduated ramp portion within the multi-use frame.

  • Patent number: 8246354
Abstract: A new apparatus, system and method for fall prevention training is provided that delivers, studies and analyzes the biomechanics of a disturbance event, such as a slip or trip incident, so that an appropriate response can be executed by the person to reduce or eliminate the number of falls experienced. The apparatus includes a platform that delivers a disturbance event in less than about 500 ms and preferably in the range of about 100 ms to about 200 ms. The method includes a unique protocol for fall prevention training using the apparatus. The disturbance event can create instability in the joint of the individual. An individual's walking gait can be monitored with the portions thereof detected. A disturbance event can be triggered when a given portion of the walking gait is detected. Also, the disturbance even can be triggered manually, at preset intervals or according to preset script.

  • Patent number: 8245864
Abstract: A diaper pail includes a pail, an upper enclosure having a substantially smooth and continuous outer surface, and a drum assembly mounted within the upper enclosure for transferring a soiled diaper into a disposal bag while minimizing the release of odor from previously disposed diapers already within the disposal bag. The outer surface of the upper enclosure and drum cooperate to form a smooth continuous outer surface which is easily cleaned. The drum assembly includes a flexible plastic seal received around an opening in the lower portion of the drum housing. A deck portion of the seal engages an outer surface of the drum, with the free edge of the flexible seal being movable relative to fixed edge to conform to irregularities in the outer surface of the drum. An actuator handle actuates movement of the drum.

  • Patent number: 8246522
Abstract: An exercise apparatus includes a housing, a pair of pivoting foot treadles and a pair of reciprocating bellows that support the foot treadles. A sealed air system including a conduit interconnects the bellows and is operable for reciprocating transfer of air from bellow to bellow. Each of the foot treadles is pivotably movable between upper and lower positions, and has a resting position between the upper and lower positions. The resting position of the foot treadles defines a resting position of the bellows while the upper and lower positions of the foot treadles respectively define elongated and compressed positions of the bellows. In use, the elongated and compressed positions of the bellows are each no more than 5 degrees off the center resting position thereby reducing stress on the bellows.

  • Patent number: 8240761
Abstract: The coupling includes a main body with a fixed frame and a locking pawl. A carriage and impact member are connected in spring-biased fashion to the frame. The carriage controls locking of the pawl while the impact member continually urges the pawl in a counterclockwise direction. Pressing the release button causes the carriage to separate from the pawl permitting the impact member to rotate the pawl to permit entry and exit of a LATCH loop into locking communication with the tooth of the pawl. When the button is released, the carriage maintains the pawl open until a LATCH loop is impacted into the back of the pawl to disengage it from the carriage to lock the pawl closed. The invention includes a fail safe measure to maintain locking when any of the springs fail and the ability to accommodate loads much heavier than prior art couplings.

  • Patent number: 8221885
Abstract: An injection moldable, thermally conductive polymer composition that has ultra low CTE properties is provided. The composition is suitable both for substrate applications in high precision electronics assemblies as well as over molding applications in conjunction with ceramic substrates. The composition includes a base polymer matrix material loaded with thermally conductive filler, which imparts thermal conductivity to the polymer matrix while also maintaining or enhancing the dielectric properties of the base polymer. The resultant composition exhibits CTE properties in the range of between 9 ppm/° C. and 2 ppm/° C., exhibits an optical anisotropy of below 1.5, and a thermal conductivity of greater than 2 W/m° K. The composition is suitable for use in over molding applications in conjunction with virtually any suitable electronics substrate material without the introduction of mechanical stresses produced by large CTE differentials.
