Abstract: A stock pusher for a bar feed apparatus includes an improved bar gripping collet in which the bar gripping force applied by the collet may be easily adjusted in the field.

Abstract: A pair of coupling members are symmetrically positioned either on the opposite outermost diametral edge portion or on the innermost diametral edge portion of a first bearing ring. The coupling members can be used as inserting members in assembly with a second ring. Alternatively, the pair of coupling members are positioned on an opposite outermost diametral bent portion or on an innermost diametral bent portion of the second bearing ring, so that the coupling members can be used as receptacle members in assembly with the first bearing ring. The second bearing ring is assembled through the coupling members, either on the opposite diametral outermost bent portion, or on the opposite diametral innermost bent portion of the first bearing ring to provide a non-separable type thrust rolling bearing.

Abstract: A simplified sound reproducing device for randomly selecting recordings to be reproduced, having a free gear formed with one or more intermittent tooth portions with tooth crest in the direction of rotation longer than that of other normal teeth. The gear system which includes this intermittent tooth portion is constructed such that this portion can contact any one gear tooth among other normal teeth of the mating gear in the gear system including the free gear and a center gear disposed at the center of the record disc. When the swing arm approaches the end point of sound reproduction at the urging of pickup, the free gear can engage the center gear. A cam member is interposed between the record disc and sound transmitting member. The cam member has two cam pieces axially stacked one on another such that the total length of the cam member can be lengthened when the two pieces are twisted. One upper piece 7 is capable of engagement with the free gear.

Abstract: An automatic control apparatus and method for sprinkling water over a predetermined area includes a control apparatus having first and second sensors disposed underground within the predetermined area, with the first sensor being disposed in a horizontal orientation immediately below the plant root level and the second sensor being disposed in a horizontal position a predetermined distance below the first sensor. The predetermined distance between the first and second sensors is selected to provide a measurement of the wilt-point moisture content of the type of soil found within the predetermined area. The first and second sensors are provided to measure the impedance of the soil therebetween, with the impedance being proportional to the moisture content of the soil. The output of the first and second sensors is compared with a predetermined electrical reference value established for the wilt-point moisture content of the type of soil found within the predetermined area.

Abstract: A slit for inserting a record disc is formed to extend from one side of the casing toward the other side so as to establish continuous communication between both sides and being parallel to the record disc carrying face of the turn table. A sound transmitting member carries a pair of stylus force releasing projections, and within the casing, a centering projection is resiliently supported and aforesaid stylus force releasing projections are disposed at the inlet portion of the slit for inserting a record disc, at the further interior part of this slit, the centering projection is positioned so that the centering projection and the stylus force releasing projections can be extended to intersect the slit for inserting a record disc.

Abstract: A slit for inserting a record disc is formed through a casing of a selective play type of sound reproduction device and made parallel to a record disc carrying face of a turn table inside the casing. A sound transmitting member carries a pair of stylus force releasing projections disposed at the inlet portion of the slit. Within the casing, a centering projection is positioned and resiliently supported near the center of the slit. Both the centering projection and the stylus force releasing projections extend to intersect the slit. A resiliently protruding record disc locking projection is disposed on the record disc carrying face, while the record disc is formed to have a notch engageable with the record disc locking projection.

Abstract: A hose coupling for permanent attachment to a hose having a reinforcing braid layer intermediate inner and outer layers of rubber or plastic has an outer sleeve which is circumferentially crimped to the hose at at least four axially spaced rings. The coupling includes a smooth walled insert inside the hose engaging the inner surface of the hose.

Abstract: An amusement device comprising first and second magnetic members; the first magnetic member being freelymovable in a base and the second magnetic member suspended from a tether and support arm attached to the base to a position within the influence of the first magnetic member. The second magnetic member is secured at one end to the tether in a manner by which the repulsive interaction between the two magnets maintains the second magnetic member essentially parallel to the base and perpendicular to the tether. The second magnetic member is freely rotatable around the point of tether attachment such that movements of the first magnetic member cause corresponding changes in the rotational orientation of the second magnetic member.

Abstract: An improvement of at least one clamping member for use in a rotisserie with a cradle having a pair of longitudinally spaced opposite end plates, and a plurality of longitudinally extending and circumferentially spaced rods fixedly secured to said end plates. A pair of adjacent rods are circumferentially spaced from each other a sufficient distance to define a longitudinal opening for the passage of food into the interior of the cradle. The clamping member has a leg with a longitudinal axis, a first end, and a second end. A food clamp having an L-shaped member is attached to the first end of the leg, and a U-shaped member is fixedly secured adjacent to the corner of the L-shaped member. The second end of the leg is pivotally secured to an adjacent rod, allowing pivotal rotation about and longitudinal movement along the adjacent rod. The second end of the leg is anchorable in a desired angular and longitudinal position on said adjacent rod.

Abstract: A shaft melting furnace for melting metals is proposed with an interior receiving the molten bath, a charging shaft for supplying the melting stock and a burner supplying heat to the latter. The charging shaft is funnel-shaped and passes into a melting zone of constant cross-section leading to a melting bridge.

Abstract: A container for storing reels upon which magnetic tape is wound. The container comprises a body and a cover which are integrally connected by means of a hinge which permits pivotal movement of the cover with respect to the body such that the cover may snap lockingly engage and enclose the mouth of the container to seal the contents of the storage container therein.

Abstract: A protector/holder for a computer, video or phonograph disk. The protector/holder is in the form of a housing having spaced top and bottom wall surfaces, two opposed side walls and an enclosed bottom edge forming a three sided closed enclosure with an open top end. The spaced edges of the top and bottom wall surfaces at the open top end are formed with inwardly tapering surfaces. The bottom wall surface extends a short distance beyond the length of the outer edge of the top wall surface. A pair of aligned slots are formed centrally within the top and bottom wall surfaces adjacent the open edges to provide access to the disk contained within the housing. An outwardly tapering notch is formed interiorally within the housing at the bottom end of the housing to securely receive the bottom edge therein.

Abstract: A collapsible mirror-heater unit for assisting in the application of ostomy pads is disclosed. A dual-faced mirror is pivotally mounted in a frame to expose either face and a heater is also pivotally mounted on the frame to be located in either of a stored or operative position. The device may be collapsed into its frame to provide a compact, box-like unit for storage.

Abstract: An above ground--below ground pump apparatus for use in pumping underground fluids to the ground surface. The pump apparatus includes an above ground pump for alternately propelling fluid into a well casing surrounding the pump apparatus and discharging underground fluid therefrom and a second pump is mounted underground within the well casing at a pre-determined location. The second pump includes alternately movable pistons which draw in fluid from the well casing and discharge the fluid through conduits to the ground surface. An anchoring device is attached to the exterior of the first and second conduits for anchoring the second pump at a pre-determined position within the well casing.

Abstract: An additive for use with fuel oils, in particular, automotive diesel fuel, consists essentially of a hydrocarbon petroleum distillate, and, in particular, kerosene; an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and an anhydrous lower aliphatic ether. The ether, which is employed herein, is, preferably, ethyl ether and the aromatic hydrocarbon is, preferably, xylene. Minor amounts of the additive are mixed with the diesel fuel to enhance the efficiency thereof.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing chemical oxygen demand levels in water which includes the steps of:(a) mixing the water to be treated with at least one oxygen source;(b) contacting the water with a first, activated alumina catalyst;(c) contacting the water with a catalyst selected from the group consisting of Group VIIIB metals, Group IB metals or mixtures thereof;(d) reacting chemical contaminants in the water with the oxygen source; and finally(e) contacting the water with an adsorptive material such as activated carbon.The present invention also includes a method and apparatus for regenerating the catalyst in situ by contacting the catalyst with alkaline and acidic aqueous inorganic regeneration solutions.

Abstract: A rock drill for drilling a plurality of arrayed continuous bores includes a plurality of rods positioned so as to be able to drill several arrayed continuous bores, a rotating member to give rotation to the rods and a single percussion member which imparts percussive force to the plurality of rods. The plurality of rods may be passed through integrally formed rod guides by connecting several cylindrical members juxtaposed in parallel. The guide rod may optionally include, at its rear end, a swivel which also acts as a rod holder.
