  • Patent number: 8076895
Abstract: A method wherein the signals (SW1, Sw2, Sw3) controlling the power supply (10) of the phase windings (4) of the motor consist of signals (So1, So2, So3) that are out-of-phase by a phase angle (f) which is continuously variable in relation to synchronization signals (Si1, Si2, Si3) generated by sensors (1) detecting the position of the rotor. According to the method, a processing unit (5) comprises inlets (8) for receiving the synchronization signals and outlets (6, 7) for transmitting the out-of-phase signals. The synchronization signals are binary signals presenting synchronization fronts and the rising and falling fronts of the out-of-phase signals are generated, following a level switching time depending at least on the phase angle, from at least one reference front selected from the synchronization fronts such that the switching time is minimum.

  • Patent number: 8072716
Abstract: An arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) device prevents malfunction of an electric circuit and checks the state of the circuit and connection state of lines. One of a phase conductor line and a neutral conductor line is wound around a transformer which converts a current difference flowing in the AC line into voltage to detect whether an arc fault occurs, and a voltage induced by the wound line is rectified into direct-current and is converted into constant voltage to obtain power for the AFCI. An arc wave generator includes a rectifier to generate a rectified signal; a drop resistor which drops the voltage of the rectified signal to generate a voltage-dropped signal; and a mono-stable multivibrator which adjusts a voltage level and a pulse width of the voltage-dropped signal and generates a pulse signal that is used to generate a false arc for testing the AFCI.

  • Patent number: 8066196
Abstract: A water saver system that includes a temperature-sensitive valve, connected between the shower water control valves and the shower head, diverts water to a bladder pressure tank until the water warms up. The temperature sensitive valve opens when the water reaches a preset temperature. The water stored in the pressure tank flows back through a metering orifice and mixes with the warm water over the course of the shower so little water is wasted. The pressure tank could be placed on the floor of the shower or outside the tub (under sink) in a retrofit or built into the wall stud cavity in new construction.

  • Patent number: 8061076
Abstract: A large animal trap (especially for wild hogs) that is easily moved by a single individual and takes only ten minutes to unload and set up and walk away. It is approximately 7½? diameter across the center allowing a trapper to potentially catch a whole herd at once, but overall it is still light enough for a single individual to pick up and roll anywhere owing to its approximately circular drum shape. Overall, the trap includes 750+ welds making the trap exceedingly strong for its weight and size. The trap further includes triple offset walls to help keep all trapped animals in. In use, the trap is firmly secured to the ground by a chain and allows nothing to get out except turkeys which can fly out the escape hole in the top. It is easy, fast and fun to set the trap. A user only needs to tie the rope on the door and set the pins to engage the ground and suspend the door in the open position using the rope. A user then pours corn in and waits until the hogs come into the trap.

  • Patent number: 8037865
Abstract: A compression-release brake system for operating an exhaust valve of an engine during an engine braking operation. The compression-release brake system comprises a self-contained compression brake control module (CBCM) operatively coupled to the exhaust valve for controlling a lift and a phase angle thereof and a source of a pressurized hydraulic fluid. The CBCM includes a casing defining piston and actuator cavities, a slave piston mounted within the piston cavity, a check valve provided between a supply conduit and a slave piston chamber and a compression brake actuator disposed in the actuator cavity. The compression brake actuator includes an actuator element and a biasing spring. The actuator element selectively engages the check valve when deactivated so as to unlock the slave piston chamber, and disengages from the check valve when activated so as to lock the slave piston chamber. The actuator element is exposed to atmospheric pressure.

  • Patent number: 8021556
Abstract: A method is provided for clarifying wastewater containing contaminants including soluble organic compounds and insoluble organic compounds. The wastewater is treated with a paculant admixture including a cationic coagulant polymer and powdered activated carbon. The cationic coagulant polymer is polydiallydimethylammonium chloride, poly quaternary amine, and/or a starch-based organic polymer. After an at least 2 second delay, a flocculent is added to the wastewater to achieve (i) microcoagulation of the cationic coagulant polymer with the contaminants to form coagulated particles having an effective mass and cationic charge to react with an anionic flocculent to be added thereafter, and (ii) absorption of the soluble organic compounds on the powdered activated carbon. The anionic flocculent as added and reacted with the coagulated particles to form a sludge, containing agglomerated particles including the coagulated particles and powdered activated carbon, of sufficient size for mechanical removal.

  • Patent number: 8011347
Abstract: An exhaust brake has a body with a passageway for exhaust gases therein. A valve member is movably located within the passageway for selective movement between an open position where the valve member opens the passageway and exhaust gases are free to move through the passageway and a closed position where the valve member blocks the passageway and the passage of exhaust gases through the passageway. The valve member has an aperture therethrough to permit a limited flow of exhaust gases through the aperture when the aperture is open. An exhaust valve actuator mechanism is coupled to the valve member for moving the valve member between the open position and the closed position. A closure member is positioned adjacent to the aperture.
