Patent number: 8061324Abstract: A piston-type internal combustion engine is formed of a high performance synthetic resin material. The cylinders and pistons have an octagonal profile. Two or three rows of pin roller bearings are positioned in transverse semi-cylindrical grooves formed on the cylinder walls, to afford smooth, low-friction rolling contact and to seal the compression from leaking around the piston. There are angle support pieces fitted within the annular channels at respective vertices or corners, and are adapted for rotationally supporting the ends of adjacent pin roller bearings.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2009Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Inventor: Michel Dauphin

Patent number: 7892319Abstract: A crust breaker and ore feeder device for electrolytic aluminum smelting employs an in-line three-position pneumatic cylinder capable of moving the plunger shaft to a fully raised position, to a fully lowered position, and to an intermediate, partly lowered position. The full stroke is used for a conventional combined ore dispensing and a crust breaking operation; a partial stroke between the fully raised position and the intermediate position permits ore dispensing without a crust breaking; and a partial stroke between the intermediate position and the fully lowered position permits crust breaking operation without ore feeding. The cylinder can take form of a tandem cylinder having upper and lower axially aligned cylinder portions, with rods not connected to one another.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2008Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Trol-Mation, Inc.Inventors: Peter C. Patent number: 7802443Abstract: A self-contained air conditioner unit incorporates an energy recovery ventilator portion that brings about several changes of room air per hour with outdoor fresh air. There is an outdoor air intake plenum which furnishes the fresh air and the condenser air for the condenser coil, and a return air plenum. Air from the room return air plenum is HEPA filtered and conducted to the evaporator coil and evaporator fan, and is supplied back into the conditioned space. The energy recovery ventilator has a counterflow heat exchanger core situated between the return air plenum and the fresh air intake plenum, as well as two ventilation fans, one (or both) of which may be of variable or multiple speed. By controlling the fan speeds, it is possible to produce a neutral pressure, a positive or overpressure, or a negative or underpressure in the conditioned space. The unit can be wheeled into place and installed easily by personnel without special training.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2007Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Air Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Lawrence E. Patent number: 7728711Abstract: A remotely or locally actuable refrigerator door lock has a body portion that is attached to the cabinet and a door portion that is attached to an edge of the door. A latch in the body portion engages a strike plate in the door portion and can be lifted out of engagement to open the refrigerator. The door lock assembly may be connected to a touch-screen device or via a USB or ethernet connection to a remote host computer. The host computer keeps an audit trail of the times and personnel accessing each refrigerator, and a temperature audit trail. The system may be used in hospital for controlling access to pharmaceuticals or may be used in a weight loss program. Temperature and humidity sensors are positioned within the refrigerator cabinet. The door lock may have battery power for portable or mobile applications.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2007Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: S&S X-Ray Products, IncInventor: Norman A. Shoenfeld

Patent number: 6581837Abstract: A powered wireless link device powers a bar code scanner or other optical symbol reader and connects it with a remote computer terminal. The link device has a housing that contains a battery, a data-powered RF (or IR) interface unit, a serial data connector on the housing for connecting to a connector on the cord of the scanner, and a wiring assembly to connect data pins of the connector with corresponding pins of the interface unit, and leads that impose a dc voltage on selected pin or pins of the connector and the interface unit. The wiring arrangement may include a voltage regulator IC. The battery may be removable for replacement or recharging. The wireless link device can be belt worn, where the belt has holsters for the device and for the scanner. The link can be effective up to 500 feet or more, facilitating inventory control or similar functions. A link of over a mile is possible.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2000Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Industrial Data Entry Automation Systems IncorporatedInventor: John R. Hattersley

Patent number: 6381304Abstract: A compensator filter is used to adjust the radiation therapy beam of a linear accelerator device to compensate for tissue that may have been removed surgically. The compensator filter is formed of a plastic material having a density of about one to two times that of the patient's tissue, and is disposed in the filter tray of the linear accelerator for selectively attenuating the radiotherapy beam to compensate for the missing tissue. Preferably, the filter can be made from a blank cast of polyurethane filled with glass microspheres, such that the filter is substantially free of heavy metal substances and toxic materials. The blank can be milled in a compensator filter milling machine of the type that is found in radiotherapy clinics.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2000Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: S&S X-Ray Products, Inc.Inventors: Norman A. Patent number: 6148710Abstract: A slitter-and-hole-punch and quick change adapter combination fits a bag machine or the like for punching holes and slits in a web of film material. A hole punch and a slitter blade are unitarily formed on a base member. Left and right resilient arms extend from distal to proximal, and have free ends that project proximally of the base member. The quick adapter can be an extruded block with a T-channel formed on a lower side with a passage or gap to accommodate the hole punch and the slitter blade. The T-channel has inwardly directed flanges that create side recesses to accommodate the resilient arms of the slitter-and-hole-punch. The side recesses have cooperating hollows to receive detents of the associated resilient arm. The slitter-and-hole-punch can be slid in and out of the T-slot, and when slid in, the detents on the resilient arms keep it in position. The slitter-and-hole-punch can be changed out in a few seconds by hand. The slitter-and-hole-punch units can be color coded, e.g., for gap size.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Pearl Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Earl T. Pottorff
