Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for determining the emotional content of an electronic correspondence to route or prioritize the information, to set the expectations of a customer support worker, to flag those workers who are using inappropriate language with the customer, or to determine another best course to send the correspondence. In a preferred embodiment, a customer sends an electronic correspondence to a company via email. Emotionally charged words or symbols in each sentence are detected. The message is then given an emotional ranking which is used to determine what future action is most appropriate for the correspondence.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an III-nitride semiconductor light emitting device in which a single layer or plural layers made of SixCyNz(x?0, y?0, x+y>0, z>0) are inserted into or under an active layer and it is directed to a technology in which Al(x)Ga(y)In(1?x?y)N(0?x?1, 0?y?1, 0?x+y?1) of the hexagonal structure and SixCyNz(x?0, y?0, x+y>0, z>0) of the hexagonal structure are combined together in view of the properties of the SixCyNz(x?0, y?0, x+y>0, z>0) material.
Abstract: A self-standing shoe rack or other type of shoe rack such as a hanging shoe rack which can expand lengthwise due to telescoping shoe support bars. Opposite frame sides may have equal-size sockets that receive identical end tubes. The end tubes fit telescopically in center tubes to allow length adjustment.
Abstract: A vest is provided that may be quickly and easily removed from a wearer of the vest. The vest includes a waist belt, an optional cummerbund, and shoulder straps which may be easily released from the vest by the use of a flexible retainer in cooperation with a connector device which secures the waist belt, optional cummerbund and shoulder straps to the vest in a releasable manner. A cable portion of the retainer moves in a generally straight line except for accommodating curved portions of the body of the wearer. An accessory pouch may also be provided which uses a strap and loop arrangement on the vest and pouch to attach the accessory pouch to the vest.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved process for preparing modafinil wherein benzhydrylthioacetamide is prepared in high yield and purity by the reaction of a haloacetamide with the reaction product of thiourea and benzhydrol in aqueous solution. The reaction employing the haloacetamide is conducted in a solvent comprising water and an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide having dissolved therein a basic salt such as potassium carbonate. The resulting benzhydrylthioacetamide can be oxidized to provide the pharmaceutical modafinil.
Abstract: A chatter resistant shuttle valve is provided to direct fluid flow from at least two sources of pressurized fluid to a downstream apparatus. The shuttle valve includes a valve body with a shuttle valve member movably mounted inside. A dampening chamber is provided which dampen opening movement of the shuttle as it moved from a closed position on one side of the shuttle toward a closed position on the other end of the shuttle. One or more dampening chambers may be provided.
Abstract: A clarifier is provided with an improved inlet structure which receives influent from influent column ports and discharges the influent uniformly around the entire circumference of the inlet structure. The influent column ports may be baffled. Angled guide vanes on the inlet structure reduce the flow energy and effect a tangential flow into a feedwell in the basin. The feedwell may be conical to further reduce the velocities and create an outward flow to counteract inward flows in the basin.
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a group III nitride tunneling junction structure with a low tunneling potential barrier, in which Si layer or a group III-V compound semiconductor In(a)Ga(b)Al(c)As(d)[N]P(e) (0?a?1, 0?b?1, 0?c?1, 0?d?1, 0?e?1) which has a smaller band gap than that of Al(x)Ga(y)In(z)N (0?x?1, 0?y?1, 0?z?1) and can be doped with a high concentration of p is inserted into a tunneling junction based on a P++-Al(x)Ga(y)In(z)N (0?x?1, 0?y?1, 0?z?1) layer and a N++-Al(x)Ga(y)In(z)N (0?x?1, 0?y?1, 0?z?1) layer. This tunneling junction structure will be useful for the fabrication of a highly reliable ultrahigh-speed optoelectronic device.
Abstract: Various components of the present invention are collectively designated as Analysis of Variables Through Analog Representation (AVATAR). It is a method, processes, and apparatus for measurement and analysis of variables of different type and origin. AVATAR offers an analog solution to those problems of the analysis of variables which are normally handled by digital means. The invention allows (a) the improved perception of the measurements through geometrical analogies, (b) effective solutions of the existing computational problems of the order statistic methods, and (c) extended applicability of these methods to analysis of variables. The invention employs transformation of discrete or continuous variables into normalized continuous scalar fields, that is, into objects with mathematical properties of density and/or cumulative distribution functions. In addition to dependence on the displacement coordinates (thresholds), these objects can also depend on other parameters, including spatial coordinates (e.g.

Abstract: A resistance exercise machine has a frame that includes a base on the floor and upright posts on the base. Resistance packs mounted for adjustment up and down on the posts are equipped with cams that compensate for the increased resistance resulting from increasing deformation of the resistance elements in the packs. The resistance packs are interconnected by teeth on their rims which allow the packs to be arranged in a stack. An adjustable bench and seat are provided. One alternative is a direct drive system having angularly adjustable levers. Another alternative has a fixed number of resistance packs that can be selectively activated to add resistance.
Abstract: A fluid flow control valve that may be used as both a check valve and a relief valve. The valve includes a moveable valve member having a surface capable of forming two or more valve seal areas with two or more valve seat surfaces on a valve seat member. The valve seat surfaces may be formed by coining a portion of valve seat surfaces on fingers of the valve seat member. One of the valve seat fingers in inclined from the outlet toward the inlet. The valve seat member is metal, forming a metal to metal valve seat arrangement with the valve seat member.

Abstract: A method for facilitating at least one donor's management of charitable monies held in at least one donor account is provided wherein the method includes the step of providing at least one central system having organization information regarding at least one philanthropic organization and donor account information regarding said at least one donor account. The next step includes inputting into said system a query requesting said organization information about said at least one philanthropic organization followed by retrieving and displaying said organization information. The method of present invention further includes inputting into said system a request to transfer said charitable monies from said donor account to said philanthropic organization and generating an order to transfer said charitable monies from said donor account to said philanthropic organization. The final step includes fulfilling the generated order to complete transfer of said monies.
