  • Patent number: 7941912
Abstract: In order to increase the clamping effect in an electrical screw connector used in industrial applications to fix or hold an electrical conductor, the support and contact surfaces for the electrical conductor are textured. According to the invention, the texturing of the support and contact surfaces for the electrical conductor is carried out by various production methods using embossing or stamping tools.

  • Patent number: 7942385
Abstract: A rail post bracket includes a base with longitudinal members extending up from the base creating a square or rectangular surround for insertion of a rail post support and a rail post. The rail post support is inserted first following which the rail posts can be inserted over the rail post support and removed from the bracket to avoid the need for securing the rail posts into place using grout or concrete. The bracket base is attachable to any solid surface using bolts placed through bolt holes located in the base. Attached to the bottom of the base are adjustable feet for leveling of the rail post bracket. An adjustable mechanism is attached to and partially inset in the front longitudinal member to assist in leveling the rail post. Together these features enable a rail to be leveled in every direction and can be adjusted over time if the mounting surface moves and settles, as well as enabling the easy removal and replacement of rail posts.

  • Patent number: 7925159
Abstract: A missile or other weapons countermeasure system includes a non-directional, modulated laser energy signal designed to protect an object (such as an aircraft, land vehicle, building, or vessel). Once a potential threat has been detected, a laser energy source generates a laser energy signal of sufficient power to provide the necessary coverage. The laser energy is modulated using an oscillator to create the appropriate countermeasure signal. Next, fiber optics or other coupling device distribute the modulated laser energy signal to one or more apertures, preferably wide angle lenses or the like, disposed about the outer surface of the object to be protected. The number and location of the apertures will depend upon the circumstances of the installation as well as the desired coverage.

  • Patent number: 7861942
Abstract: A waterfall assembly features a first, substantially hermetically sealed chamber adapted to contain a quantity of liquid. The first chamber includes at least one substantially vertical and transparent side having an internal surface, preferably with a plurality of protrusions. A pump or fluid transport device is in fluid communication with the first chamber and at least one nozzle/aperture disposed within the first chamber. The nozzle/aperture directs the liquid against at least a portion of the internal surface of the vertical side of the first chamber such that some of the liquid flows over the protrusions. A second chamber having a light source may be disposed beneath the first chamber for illuminating the first chamber.

  • Patent number: 7850593
Abstract: A pumping system 10, FIG. 1, provides a physiological pulsatile flow and includes controller 121, a pump drive head 50 coupled to a motor 12 and a fluid housing 52 having at least one port 60. The port 60 includes a ball valve retainer region 69, a valve seat 73, and an occluder ball 71 disposed in the ball valve retainer region 69. During operation, the motor 12 forces the fluid in and out the fluid housing 52 and causes the occluder ball 71 to move from a first position whereby the fluid cannot pass through the port 60, to a second position whereby the fluid moves annular to and generally around the occluder ball 71. This movement creates a slight flow reversal that “breaks up” any blood clots that may form. The pumping system may be used as part of a cardiopulmonary bypass system, a ventricular assist device (VAD) and/or a heart pump.

  • Patent number: 7845714
Abstract: An assembly support with hybrid structure for front ends of passenger vehicles and light trucks includes an upper cross member (1), a lateral member (2) attached to it from below with a flange plate (3) for connection with the face ends of vehicle longitudinal members and a lower cross member (4) connecting the lower sections (2.1) of these lateral members (2). In order to reinforce the assembly support in the area of the lower cross member (4), the lower cross member (4) consists of a shell body (5) with a flange (5.1) running along its edge and projecting outward, and of a sealing part (6) whose edge area overlaps it. The shell body (5) and the sealing part (6) are made of a stiff material, whereby the flange (5.1) and edge areas (6.1) of the above-mentioned components are surrounded by injected plastic used for the hybrid structure, and are thus bound together with the lateral members (2).

  • Patent number: 7823519
Abstract: A dressing table skirt has a tabletop portion that is sized to fit over a dressing table and a drape portion covering the sides and legs of the dressing table. The drape portion is attached to the perimeter of the tabletop portion. The tabletop portion of the skirt may have one or more anti-skid pieces that come in contact with the dressing table. A continuous slit is provided in the tabletop portion and drape portion of the dressing table skirt. The slit includes a keyhole shape on the tabletop portion that is bulbous and forms into a narrow channel. One or more fasteners may hold the slit or expanded slit together. The drape portion may also have one or more fasteners found at the bottom edge positioned to couple the drape portion to the dressing table.

  • Patent number: 7818928
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conduit drain for removing liquid condensation in a vertical conduit. Moisture flows down the interior walls of the conduit and collects in a collection lip in the conduit drain. A drain channel is produced around the inner circumference of the conduit drain by the collection lip. The moisture collects within the drain channel and is drawn off into a drain port that is coupled to a drain pipe.

  • Patent number: 7781721
Abstract: A threat detection system and method protects an object of interest (such as, but not limited to, manned and unmanned aircrafts, vehicles, vessels, and buildings) from potential weapons (such as, but not limited to, a missile, an aircraft, a vehicle, a vessel, or the like). The threat detection system transmits a hi-powered, extremely short-pulsed non-directional laser signal. Because the pulse time of the laser signal is so short (a few tenths of a nanosecond), the laser signal is substantially only reflected off optics that are pointed or aimed at the object to be protected. The reflected laser signals are received by the threat detection system and are then compared with the transmitted laser signals to determined the direction, speed, distance and potentially identity of the potential weapon. Because the threat detection system is not based on movement alone, it is capable of detecting a potential weapon while in flight or prior to launch.

  • Patent number: 7780457
Abstract: The invention relates to physical connections of a plurality of mutually insulated connecting elements, especially configured for printed circuit boards, the physical connection being a component of an electric connection between two or more conducting elements with direct contact using a spring. The electric terminal represents such a connection, and allows rapid and simple detachment of the conductor, similar to the plug'n'play technology used for plugging in the conductors. A clamping system is provided which allows to simply and rapidly detach the conductor and which is accessible from several sides of the terminal. The advantageous accessibility of the clamping system makes it possible to always use the tools for operating the clamping system in a manner perpendicular to the surface of the printed circuit board.
