Abstract: A scanning probe microscope method and apparatus that modifies imaging dynamics using an active drive technique to optimize the bandwidth of amplitude detection. The deflection is preferably measured by an optical detection system including a laser and a photodetector, which measures cantilever deflection by an optical beam bounce technique or another conventional technique. The detected deflection of the cantilever is subsequently demodulated to give a signal proportional to the amplitude of oscillation of the cantilever, which is thereafter used to drive the cantilever.
Abstract: A console switch assembly for appliances provides a rotatable electronic switch having a rotational range constrained by a cutout in the control panel to which the switch is mounted. The cutout most simply may be a sector of a circle having a different angular range which constrains a projecting tooth on the shaft of the switch or knob attached to the shaft of the switch.
Abstract: A stand-alone calculator enables multi energy electron beam treatments with standard single beam electron beam radiotherapy equipment thereby providing improved dose profiles. By employing user defined depth-dose profiles, the calculator may work with a wide variety of existing standard electron beam radiotherapy systems.

Abstract: A radiation exposure recording device and radiography method are disclosed, where the radiation exposure recording device includes a radiation exposure recording medium, a housing that at least partly surrounds the radiation exposure recording medium, and a first detector that detects a radiation exposure. An output signal produced in response to the detecting of the radiation exposure can be provided, and the detection of and output of a signal in response to the radiation exposure is entirely automatic and independent of any manual processing of the radiation exposure recording device. Further, the radiography method includes providing a first radiation exposure recording medium, providing a first radiation exposure detector, and sensing an exposure of radiation at the first radiation exposure detector. Also disclosed is a circuit that can be retrofitted to existing radiography cassettes for detecting when the cassettes are exposed to radiation.
Abstract: A side-to-side leveler couples a chain of a suspended cutter deck assembly to the associated cutter deck or, alternatively, to the associated lawnmower frame, so that the height of one side of cutter deck can be adjusted relative the other side while all chains remain under tension. The leveler preferably comprises a bell crank mechanism including a crank that is pivotally attached to one of the cutter deck and the lawnmower frame and that receives an end of the chain. A threaded adjuster cooperates with the crank to drive the crank to pivot and alter the spacing between the side of the cutter deck and the lawnmower frame.
Abstract: An ultraviolet super-continuum source with a fiber-optic may be provided with direct stimulation by a laser having a relatively narrow bandwidth, for example, less than the typical Raman shift in the material of the optical fiber to provide a super-continuum source extending for wavelengths below 400 nanometers.

Abstract: A system, a computer program product and a method for registration and analysis of data from a practised stage, and for generation of action programs in dependence of said data. Preferably, the system and the method are adapted for the analysis of the player properties of a sports practiser (1500) and for the generation of an action program in the form of a training model for the player, whereby the player will, while practising (1501) the sport, register (1502) player data (101) and result data (102) in a registration unit (104). In a parameter processing unit (106), a player characteristics profile, depending of said registered data, is generated (1503), regarding various parameters, such as shot type, number of shots per shot type, etc., as well as a comparison profile by means of which a current player characteristics profile for a player is compared with a normal profile for an average player.
Abstract: A table or desk includes a wire management arrangement located below a worksurface, and a support including a foot for engaging a supporting surface such as a floor. A leg is mounted to and extends upwardly from the foot, and the worksurface is mounted to a worksurface support at the upper end of the leg. A wire cover is releasably engageable with the leg, and defines an internal passage within which wiring is received. The wire cover faces an exterior surface of the leg, and is releasably engaged with the leg via a clip secured to the leg. The foot defines an opening which receives a lower end of the wire cover. The internal passage of the wire cover establishes communication with an internal area of the wire management arrangement, to enable wires to be routed upwardly into the internal area of the wire management arrangement from the foot.
Abstract: A method is provided for pumping fluid through a channel of a microfluidic device. The channel has an input port of a predetermined radius and an output port of a predetermined radius. The channel is filled with fluid and a pressure gradient is generated between the fluid between the input port and the fluid at the output port. As a result, fluid flows through the channel towards the output port.
Abstract: A method is provided of obtaining a sample concentration of a solution in a microfluidic device. The microfluidic device includes a channel having a reservoir and a collection port. The channel is filled with a solution having particles therein. A reservoir drop is deposited over the reservoir of the channel such that the solution of the channel flows towards the collection port in response to evaporation of the solution at the collection port. The particles at the collection port are collected to obtain the sample concentration.
Abstract: An instrument for checking quality of therapeutic x-ray and electron radiation provides modes optimized for both electrons and for photons obtained by physically flipping the unit to interpose the necessary build-up material between the radiation beam and contained detectors. The invention provides an improved method of constructing ionization detectors for improved energy discrimination using such detectors and wire-free operation.

Abstract: A rail assembly is provided for supporting a blanking tool insert on an outer frame for a lower blanking tool of a die cutting machine. The rail assembly includes an elongated insert receiving structure for receiving a portion of the blanking tool insert. A plate member is interconnected to the outer frame and a clamping structure is operatively connected to the plate member. The clamping structure is movable between a clamping position for rigidly retaining a portion of the insert receiving structure against the plate member and a release position.

Abstract: A high efficiency radiation detector employs longitudinally extending converter elements receiving longitudinally propagating radiation to produce high-energetic electrons received by detector structures in interstitial spaces. The secondary electron generation in this architecture allows great freedom in selection of converter materials and thickness. A variety of detector mechanisms may be used including ionization-type detectors or scintillation-type detector.

Abstract: A vehicle seat suspension that includes a suspension cartridge which houses suspension components that includes one or more of the following: one or more biasing elements, a suspension arm arrangement, a damper arrangement, a height adjust assembly, and a weight adjust assembly. In one preferred embodiment, the cartridge includes all of these. The suspension can include a truncated roller that provides a larger effect of radius. The suspension can also include a cam upon which a suspension roller rides that increases maximum suspension stroke while minimizing collapsed suspension height. The suspension can also include a damper that is oriented so as to provide a nearly linear response over all regions of suspension stroke or travel.

Abstract: A high scan rate spectroscopic system converts a narrow-band laser pulse into a multispectral pulse, using, for example, a nonlinear fiber. The multispectral pulse is then converted to a swept frequency pulse through a second fiber impressing a frequency-dependent delay in the light beam which is then applied to the object to be tested.
