  • Patent number: 8162039
Abstract: A finned tube includes channels defined between adjacent fins on the tube body outer surface. Wings extend from side walls of the adjacent fins between the fin top and the fin base such that the wings form a barrier which splits the channel into an upper channel and a lower channel. A plurality of holes penetrate the barrier where the wings meet, so liquids and gases can pass into and out of the enclosed area defined by the lower channel. The wings can include alternating upper wings and lower wings, and there can be depressions formed in the fin top.

  • Patent number: 8162131
Abstract: An apparatus for extending the wear life of flight bars used in chain-driven scraper conveyor systems by using a replaceable bar end. The bar end is securely attached to the flight bar body by a tongue protruding through an aperture in the bar end and interlocking with the clamp that secures the flight bar to the drive chain, without the use of additional fasteners. The replaceable bar end may be made from a different material than the body of the flight bar. Therefore, a wear resistant material could be used for the bar end, with the bar body and clamp made from conventional, typically more ductile materials. This invention therefore allows for the flight bar end to be replaced as required saving the cost of the main flight bar body and clamp.

  • Patent number: 8153699
Abstract: A surfacing composition made of recycled paint, which requires no priming, has a non-reflective “flat” appearance, and is partially composed of dried paint. The composition provides a useful application for used or excess household paint, which would otherwise require special methods of disposal and potentially create future toxic cleanup problems. The composition is made of granular dried paint and a water-based sealer, which can be spread on a surface to repair imperfections. The surface can then be finished, and no priming is required. Due to the composition's flat appearance, the patch does not display any characteristic sheen where the repair has been made. The composition provides a simple means of recycling paint, and provides a simple and inexpensive means of repairing imperfections in walls and other surfaces while saving the step of priming the patch before painting or repainting.

  • Patent number: 8147698
Abstract: The present disclosure describes novel standardized citrate replacement fluid solutions and a standardized dialysate solution for use with CRRT methods. The standardized citrate replacement fluid solutions and standardized dialysate solutions do not require modification based on the clinical status of the individual patients. The use of the standardized solutions described herein offers significant advantages over the prior art solutions used in CRRT. The present disclosure describes superior metabolic and electrolyte control and significantly increased dialyzer patency in: (a) 24 intensive care unit (ICU) patients with ARF using a 0.67% trisodium citrate replacement fluid solution, and (b) 32 ICU patients with ARF using a 0.5% trisodium citrate replacement fluid solution. Both groups were treated with Bicarbonate-25 dialysate and achieved effluent rates of 35 mL/kg/hr.

  • Patent number: 8111514
Abstract: A removable hard drive magazine for a computer with improved thermal performance has been developed. The invention includes a hot pluggable magazine module for organizing multiple hard drives in a computer that includes multiple of hard drives and a sleeve with a plurality of rail slots in the side of the sleeve. A slide rail is attached to the side of each hard drive, where the slide rail is inserted into a rail slot of the sleeve so that the slide rail is exposed externally to the sleeve and is in contact with a thermally conductive elastomeric coupler. A hard drive receptacle that is mounted in the computer is included. The receptacle includes guide slots that mate with the exposed slide rails of the hard drives. A heat sink is mounted on the receptacle that receives heat transferred from the plurality of hard drives through the thermally conductive elastomeric coupler. Finally, a backplane located in rear of the hard drive receptacle, where the backplane attaches the module to the computer.
