Patent number: 5420017Abstract: The presence of microorganisms in a liquid sample can be determined by a method comprising the steps of (a) filtering the liquid sample through a filter having a pore size which is small enough to prevent passage of microorganisms through the filter but large enough to permit passage of any free reducing agents present in the sample whereby microorganisms present in the sample are retained on the filter; (b) passing a test solution comprising a chromogenic reagent through the filter having the retained microorganisms thereon, said chromogenic reagent having an oxidation potential such that the reagent can be reduced by microbial dehydrogenase and said chromogenic reagent being selected such that reduction of the chromogenic reagent yields a visibly colored product; and (c) monitoring the filter for the formation of a visibly colored product, wherein the formation of a visibly colored product is indicative of the presence of microorganisms in the sample.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1991Date of Patent: May 30, 1995Assignee: Orion Corporation Ltd.Inventors: Helena Tuompo, Helja Glasin

Patent number: 5357188Abstract: The emitter of a first pnp transistor is connected to a power supply voltage via a first resistor. The base and collector of the first transistor are not only connected to each other but connected to a ground terminal via a current source. The emitter of a second pnp transistor is connected to the power supply voltage via a second resistor. The bases of the first and second transistors are connected to each other. An input terminal of this current mirror circuit is connected to the emitter of the first transistor, and an output terminal is connected to the collector of the second transistor.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1992Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Rohm Co., Ltd.Inventors: Isoshi Takeda, Shigeyoshi Hayashi

Patent number: 5357177Abstract: An electrical adjustment device, in particular an electrical chain transfer device for bicycles is disclosed, comprising an adjusting element, a drive device for the adjusting element, a control unit for controlling the drive device and a presetting device connected with the control unit for presetting a plurality of set values, where each of these set values corresponds to an operational position of the adjusting element. In the adjustment device of the invention the adjusting element can be moved into respectively one set position corresponding to a desired operational position for fixing or, if required, correcting of the set values, and the resulting instantaneous value can be stored in the presetting device as the new set value.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1993Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Rainer Fey, Albert Thein

Patent number: 5337274Abstract: The drain region of a memory cell transistor is constituted of a drain diffusion layer and a p.sup.- diffusion layer to provide a steep gradient of the impurity concentration. The source region of the memory cell transistor is constituted of a source diffusion layer and an n.sup.- diffusion layer to provide a gentle gradient of the impurity concentration. The LDD structure is employed in the source and drain regions of a peripheral transistor.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1993Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Rohm Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hiroshi Ohji

Patent number: 4877672Abstract: A floor mat is composed of a multiplicity of rigid elongated rails arranged parallel to each other, each rail having a body portion adapted to receive a tread member and a coupling portion by which it is joined to an adjacent rail. The body and coupling portions are found by extrusion of a rigid high-impact strength thermoplastic polymeric material and are joined by a living hinge of a highly flexible thermoplastic elastomer formed by coextrusion with the body and coupling portions. Each rail includes at least two ribs along its underside laterally spaced apart from each other and adapted to support the rail on a surface, each rib being formed by coextrusion with the body and coupling portions and the living hinge of a soft, compressible thermoplastic polymeric material and serving as a cushion and an anti-slip element of the mat.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1988Date of Patent: October 31, 1989Assignee: Construction Specialties, Inc.Inventor: Thomas A. Shreiner

Patent number: 4494640Abstract: A hydraulic control device for automatic transmissions of the type where pressurized fluid activates a gear shift element, e.g., a forward clutch, includes a shift valve to selectively interrupt the delivery of pressurized fluid to disengage a gearshift element. The position of the shift valve is determined by an accelerator-pedal-position-dependent pressure, which is delivered through a throttle point and a control valve, preferably the so-called kick-down valve, the latter regulating the delivery of the load-dependent pressure. When the accelerator pedal is released, the control valve vents the fluid line leading to the shift valve, which causes shifting of the shift valve and disengagement of the gearshift element. When the accelerator is again depressed, pressurized fluid is delivered to the shift valve through the throttle point, to re-engage the gearshift element smoothly.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1983Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Volkswagenwerk AktiengesellschaftInventor: Ernst-August Honig

Patent number: 4348576Abstract: In a charge carrier beam machine, as an electron beam welding machine, a system for establishing the relative position of a beam impingement spot on a workpiece surface and a machine reference position, as a beam gun axis, comprises an X-ray sensor defining at least one measuring field boundary intersecting the workpiece surface at a line of intersection spaced from the gun axis. During repetitive measuring periods, the beam is deflected from the normal working position along a measuring path, which crosses the line of intersection, and a signal functionally related to the period of time the beam needs to travel from a reference position along the measuring path to the line of intersection is produced. This signal comprises the desired information about the relative position and can be used in a regulating apparatus for maintaining a desired relationship.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1980Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Steigerwald Strahltechnik GmbHInventors: Peter Anderl, Clauspeter Monch
