  • Patent number: 3985112
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for improving fuel vaporization in internal combustion engines in which a high temperature fluid, preferably the engine exhaust gas, is supplied to flow through an internal passage of heater means disposed in the air-fuel flow path of the engine to heat an external surface of the heater means and to radiate an optimum amount of heat into the fuel for vaporization of the fuel. The flow of the high temperature fluid is controlled to maintain the heat radiating surface of the heater means at a certain temperature which is preferably decreased as ambient temperature is increased.

  • Patent number: 3984031
Abstract: Devices are disclosed including a dispenser having a wall closing compartments of a container with an opening in the wall being moveable over a selected compartment, the compartments being preferably in angularly spaced relation about an axis on which the dispenser rotates. An engagement member is provided for engagement by one finger to release a lock device which normally securely locks the dispenser against movement relative to the container while the dispenser is engagable by another finger for movement thereof. In one embodiment, the lock device includes a lock bar carried by the dispenser and having outer end portions engageable in diametrically opposed slots in a ring carried by the container means. In another embodiment, a resiliently deformable element is carried by the container and has a portion engageable in angularly spaced slots of a projecting portion of the dispenser, such projecting portion also serving to journal the dispenser on the container.

  • Patent number: 3944692
Abstract: Pressure sensitive materials and methods of making same, wherein a layer of adhesive material is sandwiched between a printing paper sheet surface and a backing sheet surface which is preferably of high density and coated with an adhesive release agent, preferably a silicone material. The backing sheet is of undulating form with the size of the undulations being large enough to provide a high coefficient of friction with a finger engaged therewith and being small enough to minimize stretching thereof and to thereby facilitate removal and to provide substantially uniform support of the printing paper for letter press printing thereon without mottling. A barrier coating may be provided on the surface of the printing sheet which is engaged with the adhesive and a non-skid coating may be provided on the exposed surface of the backing sheet.

  • Patent number: 3930477
Abstract: Electric heating means for fuel vaporization in internal combustion engines to improve the efficiency, performance and starting thereof, an optimum amount of electrical power being supplied to the heating means during operation of the engine. An important feature relates to the use of heating units mounted in an intake manifold preferably with there being one heating unit for each engine cylinder, mounted adjacent the intake valve. In an engine having fuel injection, a heating unit is mounted on the downstream side of each fuel injector. Another important feature relates to the provision of means controlled by ambient temperature sensing means for automatically adjusting the optimum amount of electrical power supplied to electric heating and vaporizing means.
