Abstract: A process for converting oil shale into petroleum is disclosed. The process includes the steps of pulverizing oil shale to produce pulverized oil shale and then preparing a mixture of pulverized oil shale, water and ethyl alcohol in a sealed vessel. The mixture in the sealed vessel is then heated to a temperature of at least about 465° F. for a period of time which is sufficient to cause the oil shale and ethyl alcohol to combine to produce a second mixture of petroleum and water. The water is then separated from the petroleum.
Abstract: A cableless power lift assembly for raising and lowering the roof structure or camper top of a pop-up camper includes an elongated drive housing mounted to the base of a pop-up camper and a pair of aligned left and right threaded screw drives mounted in the drive housing for rotatable movement therein. A motor is attached to the left and right screw drives for rotatably driving the screw drives to raise the camper top upon actuation of said motor in a first direction and lower the camper top upon actuation of the motor in an opposite second direction. In addition, collapsible lifting apparatus is also provided for moving the camper top between a generally horizontal lowered or collapsed position and a generally horizontal raised or extended position. In a preferred embodiment, an air conditioning unit is mounted in the camper top.
Abstract: An air duct for a motor vehicle air dryer has an outer shell defining an inner surface. A porous, fluid permeable lining for attenuating noise caused by turbulent air flow through the air duct is positioned on the shell inner surface, and defines an inner surface. The lining is retained in place by a relatively rigid expanded mesh adjacent the inner surface of the lining. The interior lining and mesh is preferably removable from the outer shell, but may be permanently mounted therein.
Abstract: Roof structures including safety stanchions for mounting directly to the roof of a building are disclosed. One disclosed safety stanchion has a cross-shaped base for mounting the stanchion on the surface of a roof or glass skylight supported by crisscrossing rafters and purlins. Another roof structure includes safety stanchions having inelastically deformable and replaceable components, crisscrossing rafters and purlins for supporting a roof surface and a structural member for supporting the rafter(s). This roof structure defines an opening extending through the rafter for receiving the stanchion's rigid elongated base which extends through the opening and is attached at its lower end to the structural member supporting the rafter(s).
