  • Patent number: 7060277
Abstract: The invention relates to peptides comprising an amino acid sequence homologous to the amino sequence of a fragment of a pyrogenic exotoxin, and functional derivatives of said peptides, capable of eliciting protective immunity against toxic shock induced by a pyrogenic exotoxin or by a mixture of pyrogenic exotoxins. Preferred peptides comprise an amino acid sequence homologous to the amino sequence of a fragment of Staphylococcal aureus enterotoxin B (SEB). The invention also relates to broad spectrum pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment, protection against or short term prophylaxis of toxin-mediated activation of T cells, comprising as active ingredient at least one peptide according to the invention or derivative thereof, and to broad spectrum vaccines for conferring long term immunity against toxic shock induced by at least one pyrogenic exotoxin are provided. The vaccines comprising as active ingredient at least one peptide according to the invention, or derivative thereof.

  • Patent number: 7028606
Abstract: An electric juicer having a housing, or case, a juice receptacle arranged on the case, a pouring accessory disposed on the receptacle and a juicer cone. The case contains a motor for rotating the cone through the intermediary of a transmission, the pouring accessory has a bottom permitting gravity flow of the collected juice toward a lateral flow outlet, and the bottom has an opening providing for the passage of the transmission. In accordance with the invention, the pouring accessory has a transmission axis, or shaft, belonging to the transmission, the shaft being mounted for free rotation in the opening. This arrangement permits the juicer to be used with or without the pouring accessory.

  • Patent number: 6929795
Abstract: Chimeric gene formed by the DNA sequences that encode the antigenic determinants of four proteins of L. infantum, useful for the serological diagnosis of canine Leishmaniosis and protein obtained, that consists of the prior employment of a cloning strategy. The patent describes the intermediate products generated during the process. A clone is achieved expressed in the protein rLiPO-Ct-Q (pPQI). To this initial vector, by means of the use of suitable restriction targets, DNA fragments are sequentially added that are encoded in other proteins and after each cloning step the correct orientation of each one of the inserts reduces the size of the expression products, the complete nucleotide sequence of the final pPQV clone being determined. A polypeptide is obtained with a molecular mass of 38 kD and with an isoelectric point of 7.37.
