  • Patent number: 5514010
Abstract: A spacer (14) to be retained within a receptacle housing (11) in either a preset position or a final position. The spacer (14) has a pair of blades (17, 18) to be inserted in respective slots (67, 68) in the receptacle housing (11). Each blade (17, 18) provides first and second bumps (29-32) on the internal surface (24, 25) of the blade (17, 18) and these bumps (29-32) engage internal bumps (73-76) in the slots (67, 68) of the receptacle housing (11), such that upon receiving the spacer (14) in the preset position, the first bump (30, 31) on each of the blades (17, 18) prevents the spacer (14) from coming out and the second bump (29, 32) resists inserting the spacer (14) further to the final position. Upon receiving the spacer (14) in the final position, the second bump (29, 32) on each of the blades (17, 18) prevents the spacer (14) from coming out, thereby preventing an accidental insertion and removal of the spacer (14).

  • Patent number: 5219294
Abstract: Mating plug and receptacle connectors each include electrically insulating housings and plural rows of electrical terminals. The plug connector includes two terminal supporting walls or platforms extending outwardly from the housing with terminal contact portions positioned in channels on the terminal support platforms. Each platform includes at an end thereof a groove which receives a grounding strip in the form of a drain wire, commoned to an outer shielding shell. The receptacle connector has an insulating housing having two elongate slots thereacross, adapted for receiving the terminal support walls of the plug connector, and receptacle contacts for mating engagement with the plug connector terminals. The receptacle housing includes a groove in the front face carrying a grounding strip commoned to an outer shielding shell. The plug and receptacle are mateable with their respective shielding shells in mating contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 5073120
Abstract: A power distribution assembly is disclosed having a bussing distribution connector having a plurality of electrical bussing terminals positioned within an electrically insulative housing. A plurality of electrical terminals are positioned in the housing for distributing more than one electrical circuit; at least one ground terminal, at least one neutral terminal and at least three hot terminals. A grounding shell at least partially surrounds the bussing connector and includes a grounding tab grounding the one ground terminal to the metallic grounding shell. In another embodiment, two bussing connectors are interconnected together, to provide for an increased number of output ports.

  • Patent number: 4940425
Abstract: The contact member defines a channel having a base from which project side walls bowed in portions of which define wire slots. Inwardly convergent wings surmounting each wire slot have insulation severing edges. When a lead is forced into the channel the edges sever the insulation of the lead so that the crests of the bowed portions engage the core of the lead. The wings are then bent across the channel to hold the lead down therein. The portions merge with dimples in the base so that the side walls and the base are continuous as seen in cross section through the wire slots, so that the rigidity of the contact member and the contact force exerted against the core, are improved.

  • Patent number: 4936798
Abstract: The housing, which is of circular cross section, defines a series of spaced, terminal-receiving cavities arranged in a ring about the axis of the housing. An annular terminal retainer is received in an annular recess in the housing, at the outer periphery of a ring of terminal cavities. The retainer is provided with radially inwardly projecting terminal retaining members. The retainer ring can be moved between a first position, in which the terminal-retaining members are clear of the cavities, to allow terminals to be inserted into the cavities and a second angular position in which each retaining member intersects a respective cavity to overlie a collar on the respective terminal therein so that it is locked in its cavity.
