  • Patent number: 8337664
Abstract: A method and apparatus of manufacturing a web which is striped with add-on material, comprising: a first slurry supply which forms a sheet of base web and moves the sheet along a first path; a second slurry supply; and a moving orifice applicator operative so as to repetitively discharge the second slurry upon the moving sheet of base web. The moving orifice applicator includes a chamber box arranged to establish a reservoir of the second slurry across the first path, an endless belt having orifice groups, the endless belt received through the chamber box, and a drive arrangement operative upon the endless belt to continuously move the orifices along an endless-path and repetitively through the chamber box. The orifices communicate with the reservoir to discharge the second slurry as bands of add-on material to the base web. Orifices within the orifice groups can be spaced relative to one another to define bands of add-on material having a relative minimum in thickness or to define spaced apart bands.

  • Patent number: 8341731
Abstract: An IC card is recognized by an IC card reader. Data is obtained from the recognized IC card. Card ID included in the obtained data is compared with card ID stored in a user registration information DB. If it is determined that the same card ID exists, an IC card issue count included in the obtained data is compared with an IC card issue count stored in the user registration information DB, and it is determined whether the counts are the same. If it is determined that the issue counts are not the same, a PIN code entry window appears so that the entered PIN code is compared with a PIN code in the user registration information DB. If it is determined that the PIN codes are the same, authentication success is displayed.

  • Patent number: 8340555
Abstract: A toner supply container has a container body and a conveyance member rotatably arranged inside the container body and which conveys toner toward a discharge opening of the container body when driven to rotate by external force. The conveyance member includes a cylindrical rotary body and a screw blade member wound around the cylindrical rotary body so that the screw blade member stands on an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical rotary body. The inner surface of a bottom wall of the container body includes a cylindrically curved surface identical to a part of a circumferential surface of an imaginary cylinder whose axis is substantially the same as a rotation axis of the conveyance member. A curvature radius of the cylindrically curved surface is set so the conveyance member rotates in a state where an outer circumferential edge of the screw blade member substantially slides on the cylindrically curved surface.

  • Patent number: 8340920
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for measuring a flow rate, in particular in an inductive flowmeter, in which an electrical signal is applied to a measuring medium flowing in a measuring tube at electrodes, and the response function at measuring electrodes is determined as a measure of the flow rate, and to a corresponding flowmeter device. So that the flow effects of gas bubbles and/or particles in the measuring medium can be distinguished from other faults and the determination of the flow rate is thus more reliable, the disclosure proposes that, in order to detect gas bubbles and/or particles in the measuring medium, a magnetic and/or electric field is applied to the latter and the potential and/or current is/are read out at one or more electrodes, the signal profile A(t), together with its signal-to-noise component, is measured electronically as a function of the time, and a statistical evaluation is used to infer the existence of gas bubbles and/or particles.

  • Patent number: 8334979
Abstract: A method and/or an apparatus for controlling the register between print and three-dimensional structures, such as creases in the forming of a package, and a method and/or the apparatus for controlling a unit for repeated cutting-out or perforation of a material web from which the packages are formed. In the control, a focused, high intensive light beam, such as a laser line, is laid in a bisecting direction to relevant creases. The position of the crease or the creases is determined by sensing of a deflection of the projected laser line. Diffuse light from the laser line may be used in order to register the position of a register marking. If the difference between the register marking and crease differs more than a predetermined value, the creasing tool and/or printing press is automatically adjusted.
