  • Patent number: 7754134
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection molding process that improves recovery limited productivity. The present invention advantageously applies pressurized fluid within the nozzle of an injection molding machine to improve the machine's productivity. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, an existing or new injection molding machine is outfitted with a pressurized fluid system at the nozzle between the plasticizer barrel and the melt manifold. The use of a specialized nozzle and isolation valve allows the pressurized fluid to displace material within the nozzle and runner, ensuring the proper pressure is applied to the plastic resin within the mold during pack and hold while the plasticizing screw can begin its recovery cycle. Finally, the pressurized fluid can be evacuated from the nozzle melt stream area either via the fluid entrance or a fluid pin.

  • Patent number: 7594614
Abstract: An ultrasonic waterjet apparatus (10) has a mobile generator module (20) and a high-pressure water hose (40) for delivering high-pressure water from the mobile generator module (20) to a hand-held gun (50) with a trigger and an ultrasonic nozzle (60). An ultrasonic generator in the mobile generator module (20) transmits high-frequency electrical pulses to a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive transducer (62) which vibrates to modulate a high-pressure waterjet flowing through the nozzle (60). The waterjet exiting the ultrasonic nozzle (60) is pulsed into mini slugs of water, each of which imparts a waterhammer pressure on a target surface. The ultrasonic waterjet apparatus (10) may be used to cut and de-burr materials, to clean and de-coat surfaces, and to break rocks. The ultrasonic waterjet apparatus (10) performs these tasks with much greater efficiency than conventional continuous-flow waterjet systems because of the repetitive waterhammer effect.

  • Patent number: 7478986
Abstract: A lockable nut system for use with threaded steel bar which includes a screw threaded nut for engagement with the threaded steel bar and a locking member which is slidably engageable with the bar. The locking member is adapted to resist rotation about the bar and is also axially engageable with the nut to prevent rotation of the nut. The locking member has one or more fingers to engage the nut with an end of the finger being displaced to engage the nut as a result of deformation of a finger actuating tab or a dished body of the locking member. The locking member may engage the bar by displacement of an end of at least one tongue as a result of deformation of a tongue actuating tab during compression between the nut and a second structure.

  • Patent number: 7342060
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the production of pentaerythritol diphosphites of high spiro isomer content. The pentaerythritol diphosphites are produced via sequential transesterification of pentaerythritol with a monophosphite followed by a substituted phenol or other alcohol, wherein the transesterification reactions are carried out under controlled conditions of temperature and pressure. The unique reaction conditions result in intermediate and final pentaerythritol diphosphites of high spiro isomer content and high total yield of the diphosphites.

  • Patent number: 7306293
Abstract: A tone ring of a vehicle anti-lock braking system of the type that is integrated into a disc brake rotor. The tone ring has a protective layer which enables it to withstand the combination of extreme heat and harsh environmental conditions to which it is exposed during operation of the vehicle. The protective layer is applied by thermally spraying a selected one of a plurality of materials, such as a nickel-based alloy, a high-chrome stainless steel, or non-ferrous materials such as an aluminum, copper-based alloys or a ceramic, on teeth of the tone ring, and without causing the protective layer to be deposited on the rotor braking surfaces. The protective layer generally prevents the formation of oxidation and corrosion byproduct layers on the teeth, to thereby maintain sensitivity for detection of teeth movement by the anti-lock braking system sensor during operation of the system.

  • Patent number: 7303200
Abstract: A movable subframe or slider box for tractor-trailers includes a pair of elongated, longitudinally-extending, spaced-apart, parallel main members, and a plurality of cross members which extend between and are attached to the main members to form a rigid slider box structure. The slider box includes a retractable pin mechanism for selectively positioning the slider box beneath the trailer. The slider box supports one or more axle/suspension systems which in turn support the vehicle wheels and tires. The slider box is free of hangers for pivotally mounting beams of the axle/suspension systems on the slider box. The beams instead are pivotally mounted directly on the main members. Each main member has an inverted generally U-shaped configuration which forms a channel, so that a bushing assembly end of each beam nests within the channel of its respective main member and is pivotally attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 7296809
Abstract: A system used for alignment of a vehicle suspension and axle includes a pear-shaped cam that is rotatable relative to one of two spaced plates of a hanger bracket. An aperture and nose in the cam plate is aligned with an elongated opening in the bracket plate. The cam further includes a pin that is configured for insertion and movement within an arcuate aperture in the bracket plate. A fastener extends through the aperture and the nose of the cam, through the elongated openings in the bracket plates, and through the suspension control arm. Rotation of the cam causes a corresponding movement of the pin along the arcuate-shaped aperture of the bracket and of the fastener along the elongated openings of the bracket.
