  • Patent number: 5112268
Abstract: A toy comprising a frame formed from a continuous length of rigid elongated wire having ends. The wire between its ends is bent to form multiple curves to give the frame a three dimensional configuration with top, bottom and sides. The curves of the wire at the bottom lie in a plane to form a flat supporting surface for the frame. A plurality of beads, with a hole in each bead are movably supported on the wire, with the wire passing through each hole. The holes are sufficiently large to permit the beads to freely slide over the curves of the wire between its ends. In alternative embodiments, stop means may be provided at the ends of the wire to hold the beads on the wire or the ends of the wire may be joined by appropriate means, in each case to provide a continuous, endless run for the beads over the entire frame.

  • Patent number: 5095589
Abstract: A self-locking safety pin comprising a tubular body which extends in circular fashion in a plane between opposed, spaced ends, the ends disposed to form a gap in the circular body, and an elongated curved tongue slidably mounted to extend, under bias, between a closed position extending across the gap from one end of the body into the other, and an open position in which the tongue is withdrawn into said one end of the body. The free end of the tongue is tapered to a fabric-piercing point. An actuator, by which the tongue may be moved to open position, extends from the tongue through an elongated slot on the body to the exterior surface of the body. An anchor is also positioned on the exterior surface of the body, spaced from the actuator. The actuator, anchor and slot are located on the side surface of the body, opposite from the gap.

  • Patent number: 4930205
Abstract: A method of making hard rollers for commercial printing presses comprising the sequential steps of heating a cylindrical sleeve of plastic material until it reaches an elastic state, fitting the sleeve into position over a cylindrical metal core having an outer diameter slightly greater than the inner diameter of the cylindrical sleeve, and cooling the cylindrical sleeve. The method may be used to rebuild worn rollers and is simpler and more versatile than conventional methods of making hard rollers including electrostatic spraying of metal cores or securing plastic sleeves by means of adhesive or heating heat shrinkable polymer sleeves.

  • Patent number: 4870691
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sound reproduction wherein a load and dispersion cell is provided. The cell comprises walls to enclose transducer means. The transducer means have front and back surfaces and are secured within the walls. The walls form an elongated narrow sound emitting slot. The slot is spaced from and extends parallel to and over the lengthwise center of the front surface of the transducer means. The slotted cell spreads the field of sound generated by the transducer in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the slot and loads the transducer to lower its resonance. The cell in accordance with the present invention extends the low frequency response and provides more uniform dispersion of sound.
