  • Patent number: 5461305
Abstract: A signal envelope measurement preprocessing circuit including: input signal adjuster for interdicting a DC component contained in a signal input for measurement of the degree of flatness of an envelope or for passing only frequencies above a predetermined frequency; first and second half-wave rectifiers for separating into upper and lower portions the envelope of a signal output from the input signal adjusting means to thereafter detect the same; first and second frequency converters for converting a high frequency signal respectively from the first and second half-wave rectifiers into a low frequency signal; an analog-to-digital converters for converting a signal selected from low frequency signals output from the first and second frequency converters to a digital signal; and a system controller for comparing a data output from the analog-to-digital converter with a data stored on an internal program to thereafter measure the degree of flatness of a signal envelope.

  • Patent number: 5386140
Abstract: A bipolar transistor having an emitter, a base, and a collector includes an intrinsic base region having narrow side areas and a wider central area. The side areas are located adjacent to the extrinsic base region, while the central area is disposed underneath the emitter. The lateral doping profile of the base is tailored so that the doping concentrations in the extrinsic region and the central area are relatively high compared to the doping concentration of the narrow side areas of the intrinsic base. The combination of the narrow side areas and the lateral base doping profile constrains the depletion region within the base thereby lowering punch-through voltage of the transistor without loss of beta.

  • Patent number: 5168944
Abstract: A telescopically extensible drill comprises a drill barrel, a drill bit connected to the barrel, and a drill rod which can be displaced between two longitudinally spaced positions in relation to the drill barrel, and secured in either of those positions. The drill can thus be extended in length without having to splice additional barrels or rods to the drill.

  • Patent number: 5155227
Abstract: A dihydropyridine.revreaction.pyridinium salt type of redox, or chemical, delivery system for the site-specific and/or site-enhanced delivery of a radionuclide to the brain. A chelating agent capable of chelating with a radionuclide and having a reactive hydroxyl, carboxyl, amino, amide or imide group is coupled to a carrier moiety comprising a dihydropyridinie.revreaction.pyridinium salt nucleus and then complexed with a radionuclide to provide a new radionuclide pharmaceutial that, in its lipoidal dihydropyridine form, penetrates the blood-brain barrier (`BBB`) and allows increased levels of radionuclide concentration in the brain, particularly since oxidation of the dihydropyridine carrier moiety in vivo to the ionic pyridinium salt retards elimination from the brain while elimination from the general circulation is accelerated. This radionuclide delivery system is well suited for use in scintigraphy and similar radiographic techniques.

  • Patent number: 5109959
Abstract: A disc brake assembly includes a mounting member and two brake pads mounted on the mounting member on opposite sides of a disc to be acted upon the brake pads. The brake pads are mounted on backing plates which have circumferential ends disposed in facing relationship to torsion-resisting surfaces of the mounting member. The torsion-resisting surfaces have circumferentially extending projections which engage the backing plates in a manner resisting radial outward movement of the brake pads in response to frictional braking forces.

  • Patent number: 4562244
Abstract: An improved polymerization process is provided for the formation of a polyester which is capable of forming an anisotropic melt phase and which optionally may include amide linkages. An approximately 0.25 to 4 percent molar excess of aliphatic dicarboxylic acid monomer containing 4 to 12 carbon atoms (e.g. azelaic acid) and/or an esterified derivative thereof is provided in the polymerization zone during the polymerization reaction. Such monomer imparts dicarboxyaliphatic units to the interior of the resulting polymer chains and causes the polymer chains to terminate in carboxylic acid end groups and/or an esterified derivative thereof wherein the polymer chains achieve a predetermined average chain length through the depletion of other monomers present in the polymerization zone.

  • Patent number: PP6361
Abstract: A new and distinct apple variety is provided which is especially well adapted for growing in warmer apple growing areas because of its unusually good heat tolerance. The new variety possesses a medium large upright and spreading growth habit and abundantly forms attractive dessert-type fruit. Such fruit is tangy and richly flavored, and possesses a bright red skin coloration coupled with exceptionally good flesh firmness when compared to other early ripening apple varieties.
