Abstract: A system for recycling cans includes a housing adapted for displaying promotional advertising, a deposit slot for receiving the cans and a discharge system for providing immediate payment for the recyclable cans. The system incorporates a rotating drum for receiving the cans and advancing the cans into a conduit where they are then transported to a crusher for compression and storage. A magnet associated with the drum maintains ferrous cans on the drum until they have passed the conduit opening for separating ferrous cans from non-ferrous, recyclable cans.
Abstract: A concealable, expandable baton having the appearance of a belt key ring is adapted to be concealed and carried in the waistband of undercover law enforcement personnel for use as an intermediate force weapon. The concealable baton includes a smooth handle and a detachable mechanism which may include a key ring and keys, and hangs over the waistband to prevent the concealed baton from falling into the clothing. The key ring and keys providing a readily accessible means for grasping and quickly drawing the baton.
Abstract: The bow string release includes a trigger mechanism which may be selectively operated in a push to fire or pull to fire manner. The sear mechanism in the release is adapted to pivot relative to the release body without the use of spherical bearing elements. The pull force of the trigger is adjustable in a direction orthogonal to the trigger travel. The release also includes a beard guard to minimize the tendency of a beard or hair from being caught in the release mechanism during firing.
Abstract: A quick-connect, universal connecting system for rapidly mounting accessories on law enforcement batons for providing ready access to full capacity equipment while not increasing the amount of equipment to be carried by law enforcement personnel. The connecting system includes an accessory connector having two components adapted to be attached separately to the baton or accessory and secured together by a pin and socket connection. The pin and socket connection defines a bayonet-type locking mechanism for rapid connection and disconnection with less than one turn thereby allowing an officer to quickly assemble the accessory and baton as an approach is made. The locking mechanism includes a spiral shaped channel which continues to tighten the connection between the pin and the socket as it wears.
Abstract: A safeguarded method and apparatus for providing fluid communication with coiled tubing, said coiled tubing comprising more particularly coiled-in-coiled tubing, having a inner tube and an outer tube, and including multicentric coiled-in-coiled tubing and its method of assembly, the safeguarded method having particular applicability to drill stem testing.
Abstract: An improved impact absorbing system for footwear including a compartment having a radiator structure attached to the footwear in fluid communication with an impact absorbing pad in the footwear for cooling the pad fluid heated by repeated compression, as the fluid circulates.
Abstract: A method of training in the use of law enforcement batons and a mock training baton for use in training exercises. The mock training baton includes a flexible rod covered by a cushioning material which is secured to the rod by a removable cover and may include a protective resilient disk at the ends of the rod and a means for securing the baton to the belt of trainee. The diameter, configuration and material of the handle of the mock training baton is identical to the handle of the actual standard issue baton. The mock baton may include a resilient ring for securing the cover to the baton and a fixed collar for anchoring the resilient disk in place. Alternatively, the mock baton may include a unique assembly for securing the handle to the rod.
Abstract: An energy efficient aquarium system with a separate cover wherein the lamp or lamps are located below the filters and filter ponds thus heating the filter pond bottom and sides to further heat the water contained in the filter ponds thus eliminating the need for a separate heater and further saving the energy required to heat the water as it flows into the aquarium. Floats each with a filter condition indicator bar are located in the filter ponds wherein the filter condition indicator bars extend through the cover and further indicate the condition of the filter as the water rises in the filter ponds due to the filters filling up with debris that restricts the flow of water passing through the filter; as the water rises in the filter ponds, the float rises and further causes the filter condition indicator to rise wherein it may easily be seen. When the filter condition indicator rises to a predetermined height, the owner of the aquarium would be given notice that the filters need to be changed.
Abstract: This invention relates to anionic compositions, containing an alkyl aryl sulfonic acid or salt thereof, a nonethoxylated glycol and an acetylenic alcohol in an alkyl alcohol solvent, that have proved effective for controlling sludge and emulsion formation during acid stimulation and treatment of hydrocarbon wells.
Abstract: A siphon apparatus having a uniquely designed base for initiating fluid transfer from any fluid container having an opening which is large enough to accommodate a single tube to a desired site in a reasonably short transfer time without the likelihood of spillage or unintentional bodily contact with the fluid being transferred. The siphon apparatus includes the base having two distinct openings for inserting a pressure inducing device and a fluid transfer tube. The base also includes an internal channel for connecting the pressure tube opening to the fluid transfer tube opening thereby allowing air introduced into the pressure inducing tube to enter the sealed fluid container through the opening for the fluid transfer tube. The apparatus may be stored in a compact carrying case or may be hung on a wall by forming the pressure inducing tube and the fluid transfer tube into a single tubular loop.
Abstract: A baton carrier for expandable batons is constructed for receiving and stowing expandable batons when in either the retracted or expanded position. The baton is received in a cylindrical holder having a bottom constructed such that a retracted baton cannot pass through the bottom when retracted, but the inner shafts of the baton can pass through the bottom when extended. A friction shoe positively secures the baton in the holder by pushing against the baton. A cinch bar is used to selectively lock the friction shoe. A belt attachment assembly secures the holder to the belt of the user.
Abstract: A thrust reverser system for jet engine comprising a tailpipe, clamshell doors and actuators, wherein the tailpipe and clamshell doors may be corrugated, the corrugations mating, the actuators may be situated out of the external free air flow, the doors may be stowed out of contact with internal engine gas flow and that may include a tailpipe aft fairing having a movable section and a pressure booster system for the actuators.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to the field of repair for manholes and other like tubular structures and is more specifically directed to a sectioned panel assembly which is premanufactured for installation within an existing manhole.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for anchoring a tool box to a pick-up truck bed utilizing struts attaching between opposing sidewall portions of the truck bed such that the box is anchored out of contact with truck bed surfaces.
Abstract: A detent mechanism for expandable batons of the type having a handle and at least one telescoping section. The detent mechanism including an elongated, substantially rectangular-shaped, locking button designed to provide a wide, flat surface to wide, flat surface contact for preventing deformation of the locking button and/or the mating tube of the telescoping baton section during the "recoil" and "bounce back" caused by the rapid extension of the baton to its expanded position. The locking button has radiused top edges and a top surface radiused to match the radius of the inner wall of the mating tube. The detent mechanism also includes a radiused inner recess for receiving the locking button and holding the baton in the retracted position and a biasing means in communication with the button for normally urging the button into the extended, projecting position.
