  • Patent number: 7639714
Abstract: A method, apparatus and medium are provided for detecting anomalous payloads transmitted through a network. The system receives payloads within the network and determines a length for data contained in each payload. A statistical distribution is generated for data contained in each payload received within the network, and compared to a selected model distribution representative of normal payloads transmitted through the network. The model payload can be selected such that it has a predetermined length range that encompasses the length for data contained in the received payload. Anomalous payloads are then identified based on differences detected between the statistical distribution of received payloads and the model distribution. The system can also provide for automatic training and incremental updating of models.

  • Patent number: 7614748
Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying three-dimensional (3D) images are described. In particular, the systems can include a display block made from a transparent material with optical elements three-dimensionally disposed therein. Each optical element becomes luminous when illuminated by a light ray. The systems can also include a computing device configured to generate two-dimensional (2D) images formatted to create 3D images when projected on the display block, by a video projector coupled to the computing device. The video projector is configured to project the 2D images on the block to create the 3D images by causing a set of the passive optical elements to become luminous. Various other systems and methods are described for displaying 3D images.

  • Patent number: 7600437
Abstract: In some embodiments, devices for measuring strings of a racket include a housing and a button. The devices also include a setting device that determines the frame size of the racket in response to the button being depressed and a spring system that adjusts pre-tension of the strings in response to the button being depressed. The devices further include a calibrated leaf spring having strain gages and an adjustment screw which is affixed to the button and which makes the starting measuring pressure onto the calibrated leaf spring adjustable. The devices still further include a fixing part which becomes fixed to the housing when force is applied to the button that causes the spring system to reach a specified level of compression and a display that reflects pressure on the strings in response to pressure applied to the strain gages.

  • Patent number: 7578065
Abstract: Devices for determining the string tension of racket strings are provided. In some embodiments, devices for determining the string tension of racket strings comprise: a body having a front surface indicating different combinations of player and racket characteristics, windows corresponding to certain types of rackets, and an axis perpendicular to the front surface; and a rotary disc which is rotatably situated on the axis behind the front surface and which has numbers indicated thereon representing racket string tension values that can be viewed through the windows for the different combinations of player and racket characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7490268
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, computer implemented methods and systems are provided that allow an application to automatically recover from software failures and attacks. Using one or more sensors, failures may be detected in the application. In response to detecting the failure, the portion of the application's code that caused the failure is isolated. Using the input vectors that caused the failure, information regarding the failure (e.g., the type of failure), a core dump file (e.g., stack trace), etc., an emulator-based vaccine that repairs the failure is constructed. In response to verifying that the vaccine repaired the failure, the application is automatically updated with the emulator-based vaccine without user intervention. Application community features that efficiently use the resources available in software monoculture is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7464167
Abstract: Methods and products for reducing the time required to set-up a call are provided. In particular, new functionality to H.324 is added by allowing the transmission of media to commence after a reduced number of H.245 messages have been exchanged by two calling devices. If two terminals involved in a call are capable of automatic connect renegotiation, one or more predetermined logical channels in the two terminals for transmitting media is selected, a message is sent from one terminal to the other terminal to open the predetermined logical channel, and media transmission between the two terminals is commenced.

  • Patent number: 7461126
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is a multipoint conferencing system having the ability to dynamically assign an endpoint to a “closest” one of multiple conference servers is disclosed. In one embodiment, when an endpoint first connects to the conferencing system, its Endpoint ID (e.g., IP address, E164 address) is determined. Based on the Endpoint ID, the conferencing system selects the most appropriate ones of the conference servers to act as the endpoint's “local” conference server. That is, the endpoint will transmit and receive conference data from other endpoints via the selected conference server. If no other endpoints across the network happen to be viewing a particular endpoint's video stream, the stream is not provided to the network, thus conserving network bandwidth. An embodiment further creates appropriate linking between conference servers automatically, manages conference server topology and determines link type (e.g., Unicast vs. Multicast linking) automatically.

  • Patent number: 7432878
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for displaying 3D images using a display system having multiple physical layers. The physical layers of the display system are controlled (or manufactured) such that the display system produces a desired 4D light field corresponding to a real or synthetic 3D object or scene to be viewed by an observer. This may be accomplished, for example, by determining the transmittance values of one or more points in each physical layer that are required such that the desired 4D light field is produced by the display system. Various alternative embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7420750
Abstract: Catadioptric single camera systems capable of sampling the lightfield of a scene from a locus of circular viewpoints and the methods thereof are described. The epipolar lines of the system are radial, and the systems have foveated vision characteristics. A first embodiment of the invention is directed to a camera capable of looking at a scene through a cylinder with a mirrored inside surface. A second embodiment uses a truncated cone with a mirrored inside surface. A third embodiment uses a first truncated cone with a mirrored outside surface and a second truncated cone with a mirrored inside surface. A fourth embodiment of the invention uses a planar mirror with a truncated cone with a mirrored inside surface. The present invention allows high quality depth information to be gathered by capturing stereo images having radial epipolar lines in a simple and efficient method.

  • Patent number: 7415047
Abstract: Methods for determining multiplex patterns are provided. More particularly, a multidimensional data structure is used to store multiplex patterns and indexes used to access individual ones of those patterns based on audio channel selection, audio frame size, and what other media channels have frames pending. For example, when using a single audio channel, a two-dimensional look-up table maybe used to store multiplex patterns wherein one index is the audio frame size and the other index is an encoded value formed from bits representing whether any frames are pending for other corresponding media channels.
