  • Patent number: 7827741
Abstract: A device for anchoring one or more guy wires used to support a transmission tower is provided. The device includes an equalizer plate having a front surface and a back surface, and an anchor rod affixed proximal to a first end thereof such that a flat end surface of the first end of the anchor rod is completely exposed. The equalizer plate of the anchoring device includes a recess for receiving the first end of the anchor rod. The recess comprises a first elongated region having a width approximately equal to the diameter of the anchor rod, and an opening formed at an end of the elongated region. The flat end surface of the first end of the anchor rod preferably extends into the opening beyond the point where the opening meets the elongated region.

  • Patent number: 7325473
Abstract: An improved guide for stabilizing the saw blade of a saw mill assembly is provided. The guide includes a guide block having a first surface for engaging a surface of a saw blade and a second opposing surface. A threaded shaft extends outwardly from the second surface of the guide block, and is generally rotatable in relation to the guide block. A securing nut threadably engages the shaft such that a surface of the securing nut engages the second surface of said guide block upon rotation into engagement therewith thereby rendering the threaded shaft nonrotable in relation to the guide block. An improved guide block or insert is also provided. The insert is bi-metallic such that the metallic material proximal to a first blade-engaging surface thereof is harder than the metallic material proximal to a second guide-engaging surface.

  • Patent number: 7207549
Abstract: An improved apparatus for assisting in the removal and installation of vehicle components such as doors, hoods, deck lids, bumpers and/or the like during assembly, disassembly and/or repair by using an expandable metal fixture attached to a portable engine hoist is provided. The apparatus includes a central telescoping fixture assembly formed of a plurality of parallel tubes secured together by a mounting plate on the rear face thereof. An upper telescoping tube assembly is provided comprising one or more tubes having a first end slidably engaging and extending outwardly from the central fixture assembly tubes and second ends affixed to a cross bar assembly. Also provided is a lower telescoping tube assembly comprising a tube having a first end slidably engaging and extending outwardly from a central fixture assembly tube and a second end affixed to a cross bar assembly.

  • Patent number: 7183876
Abstract: A variable coupling factor directional coupler having a variable aperture positioned between a transmission line section and a coupling conductor connected at either end to a center conductor of a pair of connectors. The coupling factor of an RF signal in the transmission line section to the coupling conductor may be adjusted by linear movement of a gap plate to open or close the aperture. Alternatively, the coupling conductor may be located within a slotted tube. As the slotted tube is rotated, the slotted portion of the tube opens or closes the aperture. The position of the inner conductor of the coupling conductor with respect to a grounded sidewall can be adjusted to change the coupled line impedance in order to optimize the coupler directivity.

  • Patent number: 7044904
Abstract: An improved centrifuge apparatus comprising a spindle with an affixed bowl and a drive shaft passing through the spindle with a plurality of scraper blades affixed which rotate within the bowl. The spindle is driven by a pulley with a belt attached to a motor. The centrifuge has a clutch mechanism which provides a positive lock to insure synchronous blade and bowl rotation during processing. The clutch mechanism comprises a shifting coupling attached to the drive shaft with a bottom set of teeth and a top set of teeth. The bottom set of teeth interlockingly engage a matching set of teeth located on either the pulley or the top of the spindle. The top set of teeth interlockingly engage a matching set of teeth that are either immovably attached to a plate or attached to a sprocket which is rotatably attached to the plate.

  • Patent number: RE40890
Abstract: A bandpass filter makes use of at least one waveguide cavity that is thermally compensated to minimize drift of a resonant frequency of the cavity with thermal expansion of cavity components. The compensation relies on deformation of the shape of at least one cavity surface in response to thermally-induced dimensional changes of the cavity. A control rod is used to limit the movement of a point on the deformed surface, while the rest of the surface moves with the thermal expansion. The control rod is made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion that is significantly different than that of other filter components. The rod may also be arranged to span more thermally expandable material than defines the filter such that, as the filter expands, the point of deflection is moved toward the interior of the filter beyond its original position.
