Abstract: A device and method for the treatment of mouth sores or ulcers, such as canker sores. The device includes a vacuum bulb connected to a treatment tip via a fluid-tight conduit. The device allows for a vacuum to be applied to the area of a canker sore by positioning of the tip and actuation of the vacuum bulb. Through gentle application of a vacuum to the area afflicted with a canker sore, the sensitivity of the afflicted area is diminished and the healing process is significantly improved. The device preferably includes disposable applicator tips.

Abstract: A method for the dynamic creation of a symptom database from at least one social bookmark includes bookmarking a webpage comprising a solution to a problem using a web browser; defining a bookmark for the webpage by editing a bookmark field to characterize the solution by at least one of a text or numeric identifier and by providing at least one tag to classify the solution by at least one of product, topic, enterprise, or database; and automatically storing the bookmark in at least one symptom database. In response to a query for a solution to the problem, the bookmark is provided.

Abstract: This invention relates to building materials and methods. A building assembly for constructing a building includes load bearing structural panels joined and finished with a non-load bearing panels. The load bearing panels comprise a structural concrete insulating panel (SCIP) comprising a pair of wire mesh members sandwiching a middle member comprising polystyrene, wherein each of said wire mesh members defines two outwardly projecting screed ridges. The non-load bearing panels comprise a pair of fiber cement boards sandwiching a polystyrene core. The load bearing SCIP panel is placed in position and then the non-load bearing panel is positioned in a desirous location abutting the SCIP. The SCIP then receives a layer of cementitious material that is cut flat using the screed ridges. The assembled SCIP and non-load bearing composite is then finished with a final finishing layer so that the entire assembly has the same outer appearance.

Abstract: A Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) add/drop device (102?) supporting plug & play redundancy to connect at least one ring (100-i), e.g. SDH/SONET ring, to a switch or router device is disclosed. The add/drop device according to the invention comprises two systems (300-1 and 300-2), e.g. Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). If a failure happens in one of these systems or in a fiber, the whole RPR node comprising these two systems is not affected and the failing system may be changed without perturbation. Each system comprises a framer device and an Add/Drop Multiplexor-Media Access Control (ADM-MAC) device (304). In a preferred embodiment, the framer device is a multiplexing framer device that combines at least two RPR data signals having an input data rate into a single data stream having an output data rate being higher than the input data rate for transmission on a shared medium or vice versa.

Each of the multiplexing framer devices combine at least two RPR data signals having an input data rate into a single data stream having an output data rate being higher than the input data rate for transmission on a shared medium or vice versa. The ADM-MAC device interfaces the two multiplexing framer devices and the switch or router device.

Abstract: An adhesive sheet is provided enabling to efficiently produce the very small size semiconductor chip by a stealth dicing method. An adhesive sheet for a stealth dicing includes a substrate and an adhesive layer formed on one side of the substrate, wherein a Young's modulus of the adhesive sheet at 23° C. is 200 to 600 MPa, and a storage elastic modulus of the adhesive layer at 23° C. is 0.10 to 50 MPa.

Abstract: The invention includes a method for key creation and recovery based on solutions to puzzles solvable by humans and not computers. In some exemplary embodiments, the key is created and recovered based on the solution(s) in conjunction with the password entered by the user. The puzzle(s) is selected based on the password used by the user from a puzzle database containing multiple puzzles that is greater in number to the number of puzzles used in conjunction with a particular password.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for tracking arbitrary task dependencies on computers in a grid environment including the steps of downloading a task to a computer coupled to the grid and identifying the dependencies necessary to perform the task and downloading the dependency executables to check the dependencies on the computer, and executing the downloaded dependency executables on the computer. When the dependencies are satisfied, executing the task on the computer and returning the results of the task to the grid server. When at least one of the dependencies are checked and are not satisfied on the computer, returning an error for the task to the grid server, recording the particular dependencies that failed as not satisfied for the computer, and recording a timestamp indicating when the dependency was checked.

Abstract: A method for extending the service life of a portable device includes monitoring a battery of a portable device; identifying a problem bank; reconfiguring a connection schema for the battery to replace the problem battery bank with at least one spare bank; conditioning or exercising the problem bank; connecting the portable device to a power supply to recharge the problem bank; and reconnecting the recharged or repaired bank according to the connection schema without the at least one spare bank. A method for extending the service life of a portable device includes monitoring power consumption of at least one of the hardware or software of a portable device; and reconfiguring the connection schema of the battery banks to redistribute power consumption of at least one of the hardware or software.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for effective memory clustering to minimize page faults and optimize memory utilization. More specifically, the method monitors data access requests to secondary storage and identifies data addresses in secondary storage having similar properties. Multi-dimensional clusters are created based on the monitoring to group the data addresses having similar properties. A memory page is created from a multi-dimensional cluster, wherein a cross-sectional partition is created (sliced) from the multi-dimensional cluster. The method receives a request for a data object in secondary storage and identifies a data address corresponding to the requested data object. The data address is mapped to the multi-dimensional cluster and/or the memory page; and, the memory page is transferred to a data cache in primary storage.

Abstract: A liquid gas vaporization and measurement system, and associated method, for efficiently vaporizing a continuous sample of liquid gas, such as liquid natural gas (LNG), and accurately determining the constituent components of the gas. A constant flow of liquid gas sampled from a mass storage device is maintained in a vaporizing device. Within the vaporizing device the liquid gas is flash vaporized within heated narrow tubing. The liquid gas is converted to vapor very quickly as it enters one or more independently operating vaporizer stages within the vaporizing device. The vapor gas is provided to a measuring instrument such as a chromatograph and the individual constituent components and the BTU value of the gas are determined to an accuracy of within +/?0.5 mole percent and 1 BTU, respectively.

Abstract: An insurance program for entities in the mortgage industry that provides coverage for financial loss as a result of material inaccuracies in the financial information provided by or on behalf of the borrower. The insurance program preferably includes the initial insurance application and establishment of an insurance agreement, periodic issuing of individual insurance coverages for particular loans handled by the lender, training and consulting on improved controls for lenders, maintaining an ineligible database of entities and a database of loan information, and handling of claims. Handling of claims includes attempting to minimize the potential loss suffered as a result of a misrepresentation of information in a loan file when coverage under the insurance policy exists.

The invention accesses a data repository via a data connection, displays the data from the data repository, and allows the displayed data to be characterized as scheduling data, statistical data, action items, current status, and listing of individuals.

Abstract: In a distributed computing network having computers interconnected with each other, a method and apparatus of providing policy based provisioning of middleware components to provide a solution for a service. With this invention, the middleware components that are necessary to provide the solution are determined. Then, the configurations of the computers are determined so as to satisfy a selected configuration policy for a selected solution. Finally, the necessary middleware components are installed on the configured computers so that the solution can be provided. Some of the selected configuration policies are: maximization of server utilization policy, provisioning of software components requiring external access based on availability of external resources, and minimization of total time to install said determined components.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for efficiency coupling a LTO HH tape drive device having a Serial Attached SCSI connector to a SAS-Cable. The method for coupling a LTO HH tape drive device having a Serial Attached SCSI connector to a SAS-Cable includes employing an adapter having a structure featuring an offset between the centerlines of the LTO side and the SAS-Cable side. The method also includes reducing the overmold structure of the adapter on the SAS Cable Side of the adapter to prevent interference from excess structure contained on the connector during the insertion of the SAS Cable as well as enhancing the overmold structure of the adapter on the LTO drive side of the adapter to facilitate a secure grip on the adapter.
