Patent number: 7063968Abstract: A novel microorganism capable of producing organic acids, Mannheimia sp. 55E, and a process for producing organic acid through anaerobic and aerobic incubation using the novel microorganism are provided. The method of producing an organic acid using the microorganism involves incubating Mannheimia sp. 55E with Accession Number KCTC 0769BP in a medium under anaerobic or aerobic conditions and obtaining an organic acid from the medium. Mannheimia sp. 55E produces succinic acid, lactic acid, and formic acid under anaerobic conditions saturated with CO2, and succinic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid, and formic acid under aerobic or N2 anaerobic conditions. Mannheimia sp. 55E is a facultative anaerobe tolerant of oxygen. Thus, the use of Mannheimia sp. 55E in producing organic acids can eliminate a problem of process instability, which would occur by the presence of oxygen in a fermentation process of producing organic acids using an obligate anaerobic microorganism.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2001Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignees: Bisinformatix, Inc., Korea Advanced Institute of Science and TechnologyInventors: Sang Yup Lee, Ho Nam Chang, Pyung Cheon Lee, Woo-gi Lee

Patent number: 7049985Abstract: Trimming by disconnecting a fuse connected in parallel to a feedback resistor of an amplifier circuit would cause a variation in voltage value due to a remaining resistance component. A voltage generator circuit is provided therein with a D/A converter circuit of an R-2R ladder resistor network type circuit. The D/A converter circuit is provided with a first switch circuit to an eighth switch circuit, corresponding to each bit, which are switched to set a digital value. Each switch circuit, which is provided with a fuse for providing a fixed voltage value, allows the fuse to be disconnected to fix the voltage value to a value obtained by inverting the initial value. The setting circuit controls the switching operation of each switch circuit, thereby simulating an electrical state of a fuse being disconnected before the fuse is actually disconnected.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Rohm Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Karasawa, Ichiro Yokomizo, Noboru Kagemoto

Patent number: 6517802Abstract: A chemical synthetic route for nanostructured materials that is scalable to large volume production, comprising spray atomization of a reactant solution into a precursor solution to form a nanostructured oxide or hydroxide precipitate. The precipitate is then heat-treated followed by sonication, or sonicated followed by heat treatment. This route yields nanostructured doped and undoped nickel hydroxide, manganese dioxide, and ytrria-stabilized zirconia. Unusual morphological superstructures may be obtained, including well-defined cylinders or nanorods, as well as a novel structure in nickel hydroxide and manganese dioxide, comprising assemblies of nanostructured fibers, assemblies of nanostructured fibers and agglomerates of nanostructured particles, and assemblies of nanostructured fibers and nanostructured particles. These novel structures have high percolation rates and high densities of active sites, rendering them particularly suitable for catalytic applications.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2000Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignees: The University of Connecticut, Rutgers, The State University of New JerseyInventors: Tongsan D.
