  • Patent number: 4602789
Abstract: A golf ball teeing apparatus has an upper surface. A tee-like device has a ball receiving top and is vertically reciprocable between a retracted position and a raised position where the top is above the upper surface. A feed mechanism feeds one ball at a time onto the top of the tee-like device. The feed mechanism is adjacent the top of the tee-like device when the tee-like device is in the retracted position. A guide track slopes downwardly towards the feed mechanism. A ball storage rack is below the upper surface and slopes downwardly towards a discharge end thereof. There is a ball elevator for raising balls from a lower position adjacent the discharge end of the storage rack to an upper position where the balls can roll down the guide track to the feed mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4587868
Abstract: A device for controlling filing of a depth gauge of a saw chain has an elongated file holder with a center portion having clips for holding a file. The filing surface of the file faces outwardly from the holder. The file holder has a flat surface facing outwardly on a first side of the center portion and has a straight edge facing outwardly on a second side of the center portion. The flat surface and the straight edge are positioned relative to the center portion such that, after a depth gauge of a first cutter link has been filed to a desired level, the flat surface rests against the cutter edge of the first cutter link while the straight edge engages the non-cutter link of the chain and a back of a second cutter link.

  • Patent number: 4576237
Abstract: A collapsible fire fighting bucket to be suspended from an aircraft and to be filled from an open body of water. The bucket has two means for adjusting the capacity thereof to accomodate load carrying capacity of the aircraft. One means includes sidewall stiffening means in the bucket sidewall which bulge outwardly under load. The second means includes an adjusting means around the side wall for adjustably restricting the circumference thereof and thereby reducing the capacity of the bucket. A bucket assembly comprising a main bucket and a booster bucket is used for filling from shallow water. The booster bucket empties into the main bucket on lifting to give the main bucket a better fill.

  • Patent number: 4572335
Abstract: A brake actuating system for use with a brake assembly having a body, a brake actuator and at least one friction member cooperating with the actuator and the body to brake a brakeable member. The invention provides a system with improved operator "feel" of braking force, and has a first fluid valve receiving pressurized fluid and controlling actuation of the actuator, with a signal input adapted to receive a signal from an operator and to be responsive to extension of the actuator. In this way, a change in brake signal from the operator produces a corresponding change of extension of the actuator which produces a corresponding change in fluid output signal to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4565026
Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, a fishing line connecting device can be connected to a first line or cable for use below the surface of a body of water. The device can be releasably connected to a second line. There is a release mechanism for releasing the second line when the release mechanism is struck. According to another aspect of the invention, there is an apparatus for adapting a fishing rod and reel for use with a depth seeking weight. The apparatus has a bracket for holding the rod in a substantially horizontal position, a guide pulley for guiding a line wound on the reel and passing downwardly into the water and bollards between the bracket and the guide pulley for restraining movement of the line between the rod and the guide pulley.

  • Patent number: 4546967
Abstract: An extendable bench having a long front seat portion hinged to a short rear seat portion. Extendable support supports the bench at the hinge connection and at the front seat portion. Front and rear seat portions are independently tiltable. An arm with rollers engages arms and legs of a user and can be connected to the bench at various locations. The bench is extremely versatile and compact, and can be adjusted to any of its various exercise stations quickly, easily and without the use of tools.

  • Patent number: 4544179
Abstract: A climbing device for skis has a member with a ski receiving aperture therethrough. The member has a deformed shape where the aperture can slidably fit over a tail end of the ski to a position rearwards of a binding on the ski. The member is resiliently biased away from the deformed shape towards a second shape where portions of the member about the aperture grip the ski to resist sliding of the device from the position towards the tail end of the ski. The member has a part projecting below the ski when the device is in the position. This part is shaped to project into snow below the ski.

  • Patent number: 4533116
Abstract: A claw hammer head has a fulcrum member hinged by a hinge assembly to the head for swinging between retracted and extended positions. In the retracted position, the fulcrum member is retained in a recess in the head so that the hammer can be used for driving nails into a work surface in the normal manner. In the extended position, the fulcrum member is swung relative to the head to extend beyond the head so as to increase leverage for extracting nails from the surface. The fulcrum member is hinged to the head in such a manner that load incurred while extracting nails is transferred essentially directly to a bearing surface of the hammer head, and thus relieves load from the hinge assembly.

  • Patent number: 4522111
Abstract: An infinitely variable, double-acting positioning linear actuator which responds proportionally to fluid pressure includes a hollow cylindrical housing and an actuating rod axially movable through the housing. Two partitions cooperate with the actuating rod for movement therewith and define within the housing a spring chamber and first and second actuating chambers which are at opposite ends of the spring chamber. A compression spring is mounted within the spring chamber and each actuating chamber has a fluid port to communicate with pressurized fluid. First and second retaining structures within the spring chamber cooperate with respective ends of the spring and each have a respective stop. The spring chamber has a limiting structure which cooperates with the stops to hold the stops spaced apart at a particular spacing when the actuator is centered.

  • Patent number: 4517099
Abstract: Apparatus has a receiving chamber subjected to low pressure to receive solid/liquid mixture through inlet valve thereof. The chamber also has outlet valve to discharge the mixture, an admitting valve to raise pressure in the chamber, and quantity sensing structure responsive to predetermined quantity of mixture within the chamber. The inlet valve is positioned above a predetermined upper level of mixture within the chamber, and a riser constrains the mixture to move initially upwardly and then, optionally, downwardly prior to discharging through the inlet valve. The riser is shaped to cause solids that might otherwise tend to rest initially adjacent the inlet valve, when the mixture flow therethrough ceases, to fall under gravity either forwardly through the inlet valve, or backwardly towards mixture within the delivery duct.

  • Patent number: 4512451
Abstract: A control lever assembly, particularly for controlling marine propulsion systems, having first and second signal outputs controllable simultaneously by a single lever. The lever is journalled for rotation about a lever axis relative to a body, and can be shifted axially between engaged and disengaged positions. An interrupter driver has driving engagement structure and responds to lever rotation and cooperates with the first signal output. An interrupter driven structure has driven engagement structure which is engageable with the driving engagement structure when the lever is in the engaged position, and is disengageable when the lever is in neutral and is shifted axially. When engaged, the second signal output is responsive to primary rotation of lever. Selector structure permits the axial movement only when the lever is in neutral, and simultaneously permits rotation of the lever to control the first signal output with no corresponding change in the second signal output.
