Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, a method for adjusting volume of a mobile device in relationship to environment noise is provided. The method comprises sampling ambient noise around the mobile device to obtain at least one audio sample; measuring volume of the at least one audio sample to determine volume of the ambient noise; increasing the volume of the mobile device, when the volume of the ambient noise is greater than a first threshold value; and decreasing the volume of the mobile device, when the volume of the ambient noise is less than a second threshold value.

Abstract: A device, method, system and computer readable medium allows for using a short-range address, such as a Bluetooth™ address, to identify a cellular device and authenticate cellular messages to the cellular device. In an embodiment of the present invention, a first short-range radio address for a cellular device is stored in a processing device, such as a server coupled to a cellular network. An authentication message is obtained by the processing device. A second short-range radio address is stored in the cellular device. A first message digest is calculated responsive to the authentication message and first short-range radio address. A cellular message, including the authentication message and the first message digest, is transmitted to the cellular device. The cellular device receives the cellular message and calculates a second message digest responsive to the authentication message and the second short-range radio address stored in the cellular device.

Abstract: A method, system, and processor readable medium allows a user to download information to a device within a predetermined period of time at a predetermined price. In an embodiment of the present invention, a processing device is coupled to a wide area network, including a cellular network, and transfers information to the device. A user selects a representation of the information to be downloaded. A user also selects a displayed associated predetermined price, in a plurality of prices, and respective predetermined download periods of time. A processing device transfers the information to the device within the selected predetermined period of time. The respective download periods of time are determined in response to a measured download rate and size of the information. In embodiments of the present invention, the information includes processor executable software such as a ring tone or a software game.

Abstract: A method, among other methods, includes generating a short-range radio signal that indicates a type of a device in a short distance wireless network. A cellular signal is transmitted from the short distance wireless network to a cellular network that indicates the type of the device in the short distance wireless network. User information is obtained. A software component is then selected in response to the type of the device and the user information. A cellular signal from the cellular network is received that includes the software component to be used by the device in the short distance wireless network.

In an embodiment of the present invention, a telecommunications operator monitors and manages devices and/or applications communicating with a wireless device, such as cellular telephone. In an embodiment of the present invention, a telecommunication operator adds LAN network services to microrouter 404 in a cellular telephone without user intervention. In an embodiment of the present invention, the cellular telephone has a Bluetooth™ processor and transceiver. In an embodiment of the present invention, microrouter 404 includes a Bluetooth™ LAN Access Profile software component, routing software component, PPP server software component and a NAT software component.

Abstract: An application based power management system comprises a power management application executed on a first device, wherein the power management application monitors communications interfaces for a plurality of applications in communication with one or more devices in a wireless environment, such that the power management application determines bandwidth and latency characteristics for each of the plurality of applications, and determines respective power management settings for each of the corresponding plurality of applications, wherein each respective power management setting optimizes data communicated by each of the applications in accordance with the corresponding bandwidth and latency characteristics.

Abstract: Process steps are provided for electronically sending promotional and advertising materials based upon consumer preferences by providing a unique identifier to a consumer's electronic mail address and sending electronic mail to the consumer, wherein the electronic mail includes a plurality of embedded Internet web sites. Thereafter, the consumer accesses the plurality of embedded Internet web sites in response to the sent electronic mail, and consumer movement within the plurality of accessed embedded Internet web sites is tracked. Promotional material can then be sent to the consumer based upon the tracked consumer movement within the embedded Internet web sites. Process steps are also provided to track consumer movement without the consumer's electronic mail address, if the consumer makes a purchase with a credit card while at a seller's web site. The IP address is linked to the credit card to track consumer movement within the web site.
