Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed that enables an existing handheld eye imaging device to do direct measurement on images taken from the patient eye. In a preferred embodiment, a reticle is arranged in the handheld eye imaging device so that a reticle image is superimposed on the object image. In addition to allowing the user to make measurements, the reticle superimposed eye image can also be used to align the eye with the handheld eye imaging device, be used for registering images taken at different times, and also be used for finding previously recorded points on the images for comparison purposes.

Abstract: In one embodiment, when a network element is to be removed from or inserted into a network a Graceful Operations Manager schedules graceful shut-down and/or start-up routines for different protocols and/or components on the network element in an optimal order based on dependencies between the different protocols and components. The Graceful Operations Manager communicates with the different components at different stages of their shut-down or start-up process and communicates information on the standby topology across components and/or protocols to enable the synchronization of the standby topology computation on all components and/or protocols that are affected by the removal or insertion.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an identification (ID) of a person involved in a current communication is utilized to access a communication log to determine an active time interval of a previous communication with the same person. The active time interval is utilized to identify the context material of the previous communication and access to the context material is provided during the current communication.

Abstract: In one embodiment, entries in an address table of the forwarding engine in a linecard or supervisor are updated to a current time value when the MAC address in the entry matches the destination MAC address of a received packet to prevent flooding if the linecard or supervisor is a non-ingress linecard or supervisor of an asymmetrically routed flow.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a CAM overflow structure holds flow indices in a CAM and each CAM entry is associated with an overflow count value (OCV) entry holding an OCV. If counter in a primary flow-counter bank (PFCB) overflows when updated, the CAM is searched and, if the index of the counter that overflowed is stored in the associated OCV entry, the OCV is incremented. The counter values in the PFCB are scanned according to specified criteria and transferred to a secondary flow-counter bank (SFCB) held in non-custom system RAM. When a counter value is transferred to the SFCB the corresponding OCV is appended to the counter value.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the convergence node switches of a destination node switch in a network having multiple equal paths between a source switch and destination switch are identified. When a new equal cost path is added to the network, packets are flushed up to the convergence node switch closest to the source switch.

A delta, being the difference between the first and second count values for each internal interface indicates the number of packets traversing the interface during the time period and can be analyzed to determine the identity of a packet processing hardware logic block where packets might be getting dropped.
