  • Patent number: 5845687
Abstract: A device for converting linear movement into rotary movement includes a pair of pulleys mounted to a linearly movable supporting element. Selective linear movement of the supporting element drives a rotary element by a drive cable engaging the pulleys and the rotary element. The device is particularly adapted for use as a rotary valve for controlling the flow of product from an upper storage container to a lower hopper of an agricultural dispensing vehicle. An agricultural vehicle incorporating the rotary valve system of the present invention is provided with vertical supports for the product container enabling the vehicle to carry containers of larger size and increased storage capacity.

  • Patent number: 5769107
Abstract: A split clam shell valve for flow and metering of powder, semi-viscous, and granular materials includes a resilient slitted cover over a discharge outlet in an outer valve component. The valve is driven into an open position by the action of an inner valve component received within the outer valve component and movable relative to the cover for applying a force which opens the slitted cover. An elastic band engaging the cover, cooperating with the resilient material forming the cover, seals the slit to automatically close the valve when the force applied to the cover by the inner valve component is removed. The valve is particularly useful for automatically refilling containers with semi-viscous, powder and granular material to the same level in repeatable operating sequence.

  • Patent number: 5725497
Abstract: An implant dart has a head of solid material and a tubular body that contains one or more drug-delivery implant packages. The head has a blade at its front end with a chisel type point with a beveled end and a scooped face extending rearwardly to the body. The body is formed as a helical coil that makes the body tubular and permits the coil turns to be compressed and engage to make the body relatively rigid when the dart is injected into the subject. A passage from the head to the interior of the body provides fluid communication between the subject's body fluids and the implant packages. Wings extend from the head to guide entry of the dart into the subject and to lock it against withdrawal. The complete system comprises at least one dart and an injection mechanism which retains a subject's body part on a platen and feeds darts into the body part and generally parallel to the platen.
