  • Patent number: 6923648
Abstract: An endosseous dental implant fastening system is provided with a fastening screw that is configured to prevent complete disengagement of the fastening screw from a screw extraction tool during removal of the screw from threaded engagement with the implant and abutment members. A fastening screw is modified from conventional construction by providing the mouth of the socket in the head of the screw that is utilized to rotate the screw with left-hand threads, and to provide an installation and removal tool with a shank having corresponding left-hand threads at it distal tip. Counterclockwise rotation of the installation and removal tool relative to the fastening screw causes the distal tip of the installation and removal tool to advance into engagement with the left-hand threads defined in the socket of the fastening screw. The fastening screw is thereby temporarily attached to the installation and removal tool during installation and removal of the fastening screw.

  • Patent number: 6914674
Abstract: A weather identification system is provided which employs a first photosensitive receiver positioned directly in the path of a beam of light a predetermined distance from a partially coherent light beam source. The first photosensitive receiver is in direct optical communication with the light beam source to produce electronic signals in response to scintillations caused by particle movement between the source and the first receiver. A second photosensitive receiver is positioned out of the path of the beam of light and is oriented at an oblique angle relative thereto to provide an output indicative of forward scattering of light from scintillations that occur in the beam of light. The signals from the second photosensitive receiver are AC coupled to provide an output indicative of rate of fluctuation and having a signal strength characteristic that even distinguishes between light drizzle and fog.

  • Patent number: 6907877
Abstract: A medication inhaler is provided with a lanyard that is formed into a wearer neck encircling loop. A wearer is thereby able to carry the medication inhaler about his or her neck so that it is readily at hand in the event of an asthmatic or allergic attack. The lanyard may be looped directly about the inhaler and secured thereto by a cinch, slide, slipknot, or some other means. Alternatively, the lanyard may be connected to a socket designed to receive and capture the inhaler. A releasable coupling is provided with a pair of mutually engageable and separable coupling elements. At least one of the coupling elements is connected to the lanyard so that if the inhaler becomes caught or snagged on some object, the coupling members will separate to prevent injury to the user. Preferably the lanyard is formed with a pair of opposing ends at which the mutually engageable coupling members are located. In this way the coupling members will separate if either the lanyard or the inhaler becomes caught on some object.
