  • Patent number: 5237538
Abstract: A space time gate is selected surrounding a coherent noise to be removed from an array of seismic traces. Signal-plus-noise within the selected gate is extracted from the array of seismic traces. Coherent noise within the gated signal-plus-noise is estimated and subtracted from such gated signal-plus-noise to provide a signal estimate. This signal estimate is restored into the array of seismic traces.

  • Patent number: 5234602
Abstract: Barium sulfate scale is dissolved by contacting the scale with an aqueous solvent having a pH of about 10 to about 14, preferably about 12, and comprising a chelating agent comprising a polyaminopolycarboxylic acid or salt of such an acid, and a synergist anion. The solvent containing the dissolved scale is regenerated by acidifying the solvent in the presence of an anion which forms a precipitate of an insoluble salt of the alkaline earth metal of the dissolved scale. The precipitate is then removed from the solvent. Thereafter, the pH of the solvent is increased to a pH of about 10 to about 14, preferably about 12, to recover a regenerated solvent for reuse, in dissolving scale.

  • Patent number: 5209773
Abstract: A method and guardbed useful for the removal of residual amounts of mercury and entrained particulate matter from a gas such as a natural gas stream are disclosed. The guardbed contains at least two different particle size porous substrates impregnated with mercury amalgamable materials. In one embodiment, the porous substrates are arranged so that the larger substrates are disposed in the entrance region of the guardbed. In operation, a gas stream is passed over and through the porous substrates so that entrained particulate matter is trapped within the guardbed while mercury present in the gas stream is removed by amalgamation.

  • Patent number: 5209913
Abstract: A process for producing a natural gas condensate having a reduced amount of mercury from a mercury-containing natural gas wellstream, wherein the wellstream is separated into gaseous and liquid fractions. The treatment of the gaseous fraction includes treatment with a carbonate solution which, upon regeneration, yields an acid gas. A portion of the acid gas is mixed with the liquid fraction, the mixture is then filtered, passed over a substance capable of adsorbing hydrogen sulfide, and separated into a stream comprising a natural gas condensate and at least one other stream comprising lower molecular weight hydrocarbons and/or other gases.

  • Patent number: 5202015
Abstract: Process conditions and process configuration have been discovered for the concurrent but independent catalytic reaction of waxy distillate and light olefins feedstocks that simultaneously results in the dewaxing of distillate feedstock and the oligomerization of light olefins to produce olefinic gasoline. In the novel process, under the conditions discovered, the opposing reactions of molecular weight reduction, as exemplified by waxy n-paraffin cracking, and molecular weight growth, as exemplified by olefin oligomerization, have been found to compatibly coexist to achieve the sought after objective of producing olefinic gasoline while dewaxing distillate in a single conversion step. Partial desulfurization and denitrogenation of the distillate feed also occurs.
