Abstract: Treatment of wet process phosphoric acid to inhibit post-precipitation by steps including addition of an aluminum silicate material such as perlite or the like to dilute acid from which a major portion of solids has been removed, concentration of the resulting dilute acid, and removal of resulting precipitate.
Abstract: The invention disclosed provides a new composition and method for inhibiting corrosion. The present composition is relatively non-toxic, contains no chromates, and consists essentially of an azole, water-soluble phosphate and water-soluble organophosphonic acid. Effective amounts of the corrosion inhibiting composition are used to provide corrosion protection in both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Abstract: Low toxicity, low pollution potential compositions and methods for inhibiting corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metallic parts in aqueous systems. The compositions have no chromate, no polyphosphate and no borate and consist essentially of alkali metal nitrite, alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate and an azole. Preferably the compositions also include an alkali metal silicate and small amounts of an alkali metal hydroxide. In the corrosion inhibiting method, the aforesaid compositions are added to the system water in amounts sufficient to provide from about 100 to 10,000 parts per million ("ppm") of alkali metal nitrite, the primary inhibitor.
Abstract: A method of use of calcium nitrite in corrosion control in hydraulic cements that contain metal pieces or structures, and in certain related uses, e.g., snow removal from alite cement bridge decking.

Abstract: This invention provides an improved composition and method for dispersing high molecular weight flocculant polymers and copolymers used for water and waste treatment by the combination of the polymer with an inert additive and a small amount of water.
Abstract: A method of inhibiting the deposition of scale on the heat exchange surfaces of evaporators by adding 0.1 to 15 part per million quantities of maleic-furan copolymers or salts thereof to the evaporators.
Abstract: This invention provides an improved composition and method for dispersing high molecular weight flocculant polymers and copolymers used for water and waste treatment by means of an effervescing additive.
Abstract: Clarification of iron waste waters using basic dyes such as methylene blue, methyl violet or malachite green and the like, alone or in combination with organic or inorganic additives.
Abstract: The invention disclosed provides a method for boiler water treatment to retard corrosion due to dissolved oxygen. Hydroxylamine, certain derivatives thereof and their salts have now been found to be highly effective oxygen scavengers for use in boiler water and thereby effect reduction of corrosion resulting from dissolved oxygen.

Abstract: Corrosion inhibiting compositions containing hydroxyamine phosphate ester or water-soluble derivative thereof, together with water-soluble zinc salt and 1,2,3-triazole or water-soluble derivative thereof; and methods for inhibiting corrosion in aqueous systems therewith.
Abstract: The invention disclosed relates to new improved corrosion inhibitors for cooling water systems, preparation thereof and use to inhibit metal corrosion in aqueous systems. The present corrosion inhibitors are 1,3,5-triazine-4,6-diketo 2-dithio ammonium phosphamate and 1,3,5-triazine 4,6-dithio 2-dithio ammonium phosphamate.
Abstract: The invention disclosed relates to a method for using a new improved composition for inhibiting or preventing accumulation of scale or the like on heating surfaces in an aqueous system. The present composition includes (A) copolymers of styrene sulfonic acid with acrylic or methacrylic acid, and their water-soluble salts; or (B) mixture of polystyrene sulfonic acid with polyacrylic or polymethacrylic acid, and their water-soluble salts.

Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus for developing printing plates by stripping away uncured material using a carefully controlled gas stream. An optional supplemental blotting system is provided.
Abstract: This invention provides an improved composition and method for dispersing high molecular weight polymers and copolymers used as flocculants for water and waste treatment by using, in combination with the polymer, a nonionic surfactant to retard polymer solubility, soda ash, a chelant, and a filler.
Abstract: This invention provides an improved composition and method for dispersing high molecular weight flocculant polymers and copolymers used for water and waste treatment by the combination of the polymer with an inert additive and a bonding agent.
