Abstract: A process is provided for continuously controlling the hydrocarbon heat content and flow rate of a partial oxidation unit feed-gas stream under conditions where the composition and hence the hydrocarbon heat content of the feed-gas stream is subject to variation. The hydrocarbon heat content of the incoming gases is continuously measured and compared against a design hydrocarbon heat content. An evaluating means calculates whether a moderator is required to decrease the hydrocarbon heat content to the design hydrocarbon heat content or a supplemental high hydrocarbon heat content gas is required to increase the hydrocarbon heat content to the design hydrocarbon heat content. The process utilizes recycle synthesis gas as a moderator.

Abstract: A method for preparing catalysts suitable for hydroprocessing and hydrocracking of naphthas and gas oils is provided. Catalysts consist of an aerogel support comprising one or more transition metal oxide polymers, prepared by the super-critical fluid extraction of alkoxide alcogels, together with one or several promoting metals in oxide or sulfide form. A process for hydroprocessing hydrocarbons using the catalyst of this invention is also provided.
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel class of compounds, useful as gasoline detergent additives, comprising hydrocarbyloxypolyether allophonate esters of 2-hydroxy ethane. The present invention also provides a motor fuel composition containing the novel allophonate esters and further provides a method of synthesizing the allophonate esters of the present invention.

Abstract: A diesel fuel composition comprising a major portion of a middle distillate fuel oil and a minor portion, effective to clean deposits from diesel fuel injectors, of a diesel fuel detergent comprising the reaction product of:(a) a 4-alkyl-2-morpholinone represented by the formula: ##STR1## in which R represents a monovalent aliphatic radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and(b) an alkylphenoxypolyoxyalkylene amine represented by the formula: ##STR2## in which R' represents a hydrocarbyl radical having from 4 to 30 carbon atoms, x has a value from 5 to 50, and R" represents a methyl radical or a mixture of hydrogen and methyl radicals.A method of cleaning diesel fuel injectors is also provided.
Abstract: Abundant low cost low rank coal may now be gasified by partial oxidation or burned in a furnace or boiler. About 30 to 45 parts by wt. of comminuted low rank coal is mixed and reacted in the reaction zone of a partial oxidation gas generator with a free-oxygen containing gas and (a) about 1 to 3 parts by wt. of a residual fuel oil, and (b) about 70 to 55 parts by wt. of water. The hot effluent stream of synthesis gas, reducing gas or fuel gas from the partial oxidation gasifier may be purified to provide a gas stream which will not pollute the environment.
Abstract: A polyurea elastomer which exhibits a reduced moisture transfer rate is disclosed. The elastomer includes an isocyanate, an amine terminated 1,2-polyoxybutylene diol and a chain extender. The isocyanate is preferably a quasiprepolymer of an isocyanate and a material selected from at least one polyol, a high molecular weight polyoxyalkyleneamine or a combination thereof.
Abstract: A gasoline detergent additive composition comprising a) the reaction product of a 4-alkyl-2-morpholinone and an alkylphenoxypolyoxyalkylene amine; b) the reaction product of a polyalkenyl succinic acid anhydride and a polyethylene polyamine; and c) a polyalphaolefin. A motor fuel composition is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel class of compounds, useful as gasoline detergent additives, comprising asymmetrical ureas of either a hydrocarbyloxypolyether amine alone, or a hydrocarbyloxypolyether amine and a tertiary aminoalkyl primary amine. The present invention also provides a motor fuel composition containing the novel asymmetrical ureas and further provides a method of synthesizing the asymmetrical ureas of the present invention.
Abstract: A multi-functional motor fuel additive comprising (a) a mono-polyalkenylsuccinimide, (b) a bis-polyalkenylsuccinimide and (c) a heavy oil is provided. A motor fuel composition comprising a major portion of a base fuel and a minor portion, sufficient to provide port fuel injector and intake valve detergency, of the multi-functional motor fuel additive of the present invention and a concentrate of the multi-functional motor fuel additive of the present invention are also provided.
