Abstract: A medication ointment applicator comprising a length of plastic film to which is attached a backing band made of a length of elastic mesh material. The ointment is applied to the surface of the plastic film which is engaged with the skin of the user, the elastic material backing band being wrapped around, for example, the user's ankle or wrist such as to hold the plastic film in firm engagement with the skin for absorption of the medication ointment through the skin. Preferably, the plastic film is provided with a scale enabling the user to measure the correct amount of ointment to be applied as a result of measuring the length of a ribbon of ointment expelled from a dispenser tube, and the surface of the plastic film to which the ointment is applied is textured, in one embodiment of the invention, by ridges being formed on the surface, to help contain the ointment within the edges of the plastic film.
Abstract: A system for treating water includes an aerator or degasifier that is fluidly connected to a blower that moves gases released from the water cascading down in the aerator over slat trays or plastic packing media. The released gases enter a gas scrubber and are treated with an iron salt solution that removes undesirable gases and that form a sludge that is removed from the scrubber. The residual gases, mostly nitrogen, argon, and other minor gases found in ambient air, flow into the aerator.
Abstract: There is disclosed a nozzle apparatus for spraying a mixture of gas and liquid. The apparatus comprises a casing having therein a gas jetting nozzle member and a liquid chamber. The liquid flows out of the chamber in directions to cross at a predetermined angle with a direction in which the gas is jetted out of the nozzle member.
Abstract: A post light having an upstanding elongate main body portion of decorative appearance, preferably made of concrete and having a hollow interior in which is lengthwise disposed a weather impervious tubular conduit. An annular member is attached on top of the tubular conduit and supports a light bulb socket, the wiring from the light bulb socket to an electrical junction box passing through the annular member and being disposed on the interior of the tubular member. A seal is disposed between the light bulb socket and the annular member. A light fixture surrounds the light bulb socket and a removable finial is supported from the top of the main body portion by spaced apart support members. The resulting post light structure is strong and sturdy, substantially weatherproof, and of highly decorative appearance.
Abstract: A portable personal shelter formed of a sheet of water-repellant canvas or fabric having a semi-circular edge provided with a gusset through which is disposed a bowed flexible rod. The ends of the rod projecting from the gusset are provided with a ring to which is removably attached the end of a chordal member in the form of an elastic band provided at each end with a hook for attachment to a ring. A rope is attached to the center of the straight chordal edge of the sheet for attachment to a tree trunk or to a vertical post, with the chordal member engaged with the surface of the tree trunk or vertical post, thus forming a semi-conical roof for protecting a person from rain or snow. For easy transportation, the elastic band is doubled-up by passing through a ring and attaching both hooks to the same opposite rings such as to decrease the chordal length. While in the transportation mode, the shelter can be carried on the head of a person to provide protection against rain or snow while walking.
